Where's the P.M.? Shouldn't he be in view, not hiding away ?

Look at the disruptions of recent days;
Exam results and fudged response from Education secretary , passing the buck, stretching the truth about when he really knew about the algorithm,

increase in covid figures
;
Migrants in small boats and Patel's response,

News of contract to work on Ofqual awarded to long term associates of Gove and Cummings without tender.

Not removing whip from MP accused of rape.

So it goes on .Surely a P.M worth his salt should give the nation the impression he is in charge. As usual Johnson is nowhere to be seen.

It’s not what you think of him it’s the question asked of Urm ( and you know that.)

geekesse Fri 21-Aug-20 10:26:38

The consensus on Twitter seems to be that the PM has actually gone to Greece for his father’s 80th birthday celebrations. Since that may be perceived as unwise by the public, the Scotland camping trip provides an acceptable cover story. Who’d want to go camping in Scotland in August with a four-month-old baby?

growstuff Fri 21-Aug-20 10:25:59

Ooooh! Here we are with the "some posters" sneers.

growstuff Fri 21-Aug-20 10:25:23

I agree. People who know him better than I do, have said the same and worse.

lemongrove Fri 21-Aug-20 10:25:21

That’s what I would expect of some posters .....but not Lucca.

biba70 Fri 21-Aug-20 10:22:03

no, just plain truth

lemongrove Fri 21-Aug-20 10:21:14

varian

I would be cheered up by an honourable, diligent, honest PM, but not by this immoral, lazy, luar UG.Have you no sense of decency?

Lucca...I would say this ranks highly as a personal ( and unpleasant) comment. What do you think?

growstuff Fri 21-Aug-20 10:19:32

Jabberwok Take a few deep breaths and get a grip!

trisher Fri 21-Aug-20 10:18:48

The average worker's holiday entitlement in 6 weeks a year. So some may be on holiday now, they would not have been on holiday for 2 weeks earlier in the year.
Is it name calling if the person involved is actually what the posters say they are?

Lucca Fri 21-Aug-20 10:15:59

Which idiotic personal comments ? I think it has already been said that personal appearance comments were strictly light hearted. I couldnt give a monkeys what mr Johnson looks like really, it’s his character and competence I have a problem with. But you don’t seem to accept that ?

Jabberwok Fri 21-Aug-20 10:03:16

Nobody is against political criticism, it's these idiotic personal comments that are cruel and nonsensical! Surely people on here are better than that?! Perhaps Carrie and Wilfred should be included in the name calling?! Guilty by association, both of them!

Urmstongran Fri 21-Aug-20 10:01:49

People working from home still take annual leave to which they are entitled. No one I know has been working from home since the beginning of March without a break.

lemongrove Fri 21-Aug-20 10:00:31

Yes....they are off on holiday somewhere! Thousands of people are having a Summer break, so much so that you can hardly book a self catering cottage/ campsite before the end of September.

trisher Fri 21-Aug-20 09:57:17

GrannyGravy13 many people may be still working from home, but they are still at home, and working usually requires that they log in and out at certain times, and be available during certain hours. They are not off on holiday somewhere, and isn't one of the attractions of Glamping that all connectons such as the internet/phone/social media are unavailable? Suggesting that Boris is working in any way similar to the average office home worker is an insult to them.

lemongrove Fri 21-Aug-20 09:54:09

On the subject of seeing Johnson ( all the visibly in charge stuff) things are better than they were ( Covid) so why shouldn’t he and his family have a Scottish break before September.Like all PM’s there will still be constant phone calls/ briefings/ paperwork even on holiday.

Urmstongran Fri 21-Aug-20 09:52:31

I’ve brought my brolly.

Marmight Fri 21-Aug-20 09:51:12

I’m not getting involved one way or the other in this ‘debate’. However a couple of sayings which I think may apply to some wink

‘It is only when we stop desperately trying to prove a point that reason prevails’

‘Some people try to create their own storms, then get upset when it rains’

Just saying ......

Urmstongran Fri 21-Aug-20 09:49:58

I know Lucca. You’re quite right. My comment was tongue in cheek really which doesn’t show on a post.

If I couldn’t stand the heat I’d get out of the kitchen!
?

Lucca Fri 21-Aug-20 09:49:27

How please are the comments “so personal “?

MaizieD Fri 21-Aug-20 09:48:55

GrannyGravy13

I do think that the pile-on to another poster is beginning to look like bullies in the playground who cannot have their own way?

I think that if you vote for the indefensible and don't give a monkeys about the consequences you're better off keeping your head down...

Lucca Fri 21-Aug-20 09:48:47

GrannyGravy13

I do not need to see the PM or Ministers rolled out at every opportunity to know that they are ^in charge^

of course not at every opportunity but I think with a crisis like the exams one it would have been good idea ?

lemongrove Fri 21-Aug-20 09:47:59

Actually GG13 I think it’s exactly that!
Making their comments to Urmstongran so personal is their own little equivalent of chucking eggs at Johnson. It’s silly and juvenile.

Lucca Fri 21-Aug-20 09:47:14

UG. With respect would you look at my post again? I’m not piling in to you I am just responding to accusations of “hating”

MaizieD Fri 21-Aug-20 09:46:20

The PM fulfilled his election promise to get the UK out of the EU.

I don't recall him making an election promise to destroy our constitution, to distribute public money to cronies and to let Russians into government. But he's doing it.

What really pees me off about this is that you lot defend Johnson for being out of sight on his fourth or fifth holiday of the year but you are so silent on his destruction of parliamentary democracy, the absolute incompetence of the government and the looting of the public purse.

You don't even try to defend it...

(And if Johnson has said that he's staying in that tent he's absolutely lying through his teeth again. It's not even put up properly...)

Urmstongran Fri 21-Aug-20 09:39:16

Thank you GG13 I’m feeling a bit battered!
