Where's the P.M.? Shouldn't he be in view, not hiding away ?

Look at the disruptions of recent days;
Exam results and fudged response from Education secretary , passing the buck, stretching the truth about when he really knew about the algorithm,

increase in covid figures
;
Migrants in small boats and Patel's response,

News of contract to work on Ofqual awarded to long term associates of Gove and Cummings without tender.

Not removing whip from MP accused of rape.

So it goes on .Surely a P.M worth his salt should give the nation the impression he is in charge. As usual Johnson is nowhere to be seen.

I do think that the pile-on to another poster is beginning to look like bullies in the playground who cannot have their own way?

lemongrove Fri 21-Aug-20 09:30:36

varian

You and your fellow Johnson fans have always been a minority UG

Yes, I expect that’s why he won the GE with such a huge majority?
Johnson won’t be pushed out by Gove or anyone else....it’s simply wishful thinking.
Never mind, anyone unhappy can sign the online petition to get rid of the government and start a new breakaway group.

I do not need to see the PM or Ministers rolled out at every opportunity to know that they are in charge

Lucca Fri 21-Aug-20 09:16:03

* I think those on here who are under the impression that the PM is not working whilst in Scotland are naive.*

I think people are talking about being visibly in charge.

westendgirl Fri 21-Aug-20 09:15:58

Lucca you are so right.
There is great concern about the u-turns, the lack of leadership and the contracts handed out without tenders, lack of ability in the cabinet , the influence of Cummings etc.
If you had a poor job done by a plumber you would surely complain. Why not about a poor job done by a weak P.M. leading an ineffective government.?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 21-Aug-20 09:15:52

Jabberwok

Apart from Grandad, the spite and venom on a personal level on here from so called intelligent left wing people (all those degrees!!) is actually pitiful and deeply unpleasant! I wonder what some of us look like when photographed on the hop in bracing weather?! Not a pretty sight I guess! Comments about not having any clothes on, snigger snigger! How pathetic is that from grown people (with degrees!) You all complain about the the Daily Mail, but you seem to echo that rag perfectly! Again, apart from Grandad who is clearly the only adult in the left wing room, disgusting!
And No, it was the WA that was oven ready, not the trade deal!

Is this some kind of parody?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 21-Aug-20 09:13:48

Approximately only 30% of Civil
Servants have returned to their desks the rest are working from home /remotely.

I think those on here who are under the impression that the PM is not working whilst in Scotland are naive.

If anything good comes out of the pandemic it will be that desk jobs whether they’re be low grade or higher up can be done just as well from the kitchen table or anywhere else with Internet connection!

I do feel that some of the electorate are still struggling with the fact that the Conservatives won with an 80 seat majority.

The PM fulfilled his election promise to get the UK out of the EU.

westendgirl Fri 21-Aug-20 09:07:28

Ooops what on earth did I do there .

Lucca Fri 21-Aug-20 09:04:44

What he wears, looks like etc is not the point of this thread. The point is his poor leadership. Nothing to do with being “haters” or “meanies” “spite”. “Venom” .
Everyone would like to think they deserved a holiday of course, but there are plenty who don’t manage to get one, and I think Johnson has shown poor judgement by staying away at this time.

Urmstongran Fri 21-Aug-20 09:03:51

It just seemed to me that once Boris wasn’t found out to be lying again (Oh the disappointment!) the meanies on here took to deriding his figure and holiday wear. That’s why I said ‘haters are gonna hate’. Nothing Boris does will gain any upticks on these threads!

Whitewavemark2 Fri 21-Aug-20 09:03:05

Johnson is having a well earned break from a well earned break!

Mombiot.

westendgirl Fri 21-Aug-20 09:02:23

I don't understand the use of the word "haters ". As far as I am concerned I do not know Johnson and therefore am completely indifferent to him as a person.
What does concern me is that this country is floundering under his direction as Prime Minister. It's all right saying that he delegates, but if those chosen to carry out the work are not up to the task and are not removed then I feel we should express our concern and this applies to the P.M.too.
I cannot see why he should not be at the helm visibly and am sure lots of young people felt that he should have addressed them and apologised. The success of this government is up to him.,so instead of delegation he should try leadership.

Just amazed at the lengths people are prepared to go to defend a thoroughly worthless individual. I can only think that they have no respect at all for the democratic institutions that he is allowing to be trashed and they approve of vast amounts of public money being showered on government cronies for contracts that haven't been properly tendered for and which haven't been effectively fulfilled.

Oh, and they're perfectly happy that Russia has a finger in our pies...

Many of us questioned the moral compass of Johnson supporters before he was even elected. I think we now know that they have none.

biba70 Fri 21-Aug-20 08:56:25

photoshopping is so useful these days - Glamping in Scotland, with all the midgies and a new baby- lol.

Ellianne Fri 21-Aug-20 08:54:06

Jabberwok I don't always agree with those so called intelligent left wing people (all those with degrees!!) and I have two! I was rather hoping though that they were mentally astute enough to understand the imagery that we are a reflection of our own country in how we dress and behave, especially on holiday. It was merely a light hearted observation.
The Daily Mail, although not my read, reflects the mentality of the people in this country too. That's how it is.

vegansrock Fri 21-Aug-20 08:46:57

Did the “lovers “ not criticise Corbyn, Abbott and co? Were they then not “haters”? So criticise a useless pm for being useless is “hating”? Criticism
Is not the same as hating btw

Lucca Fri 21-Aug-20 08:28:23

Are “haters” only those who don’t vote conservative ? Or who disapprove of the governments actions ? Sorry but I think it’s a silly term, but if it is a real “thing “ then there’s a whole thread full of them on another part of Gransnet !

ellainne delegator????

Ellianne Fri 21-Aug-20 08:16:59

Well glamping in Scotland is quite trendy, so I'm sure he will enjoy his stay, and to be fair he does look suitably attired for the weather.
I am not associated with the haters, Urmstongran, the Macron pictures were to show each leader to his own (country) on holiday this year. We had our property vetted for Cameron and family once, the lengths they go to for security is mind blowing.
I've always read that Boris' style is that of a delegator and that he chooses the best possible team to do the work for him. A bit like the Headmaster someone mentioned earlier who pops out of his study to read from the notebook. If anything the haters are justified in attacking some of the advisors but not necessarily Boris himself if that is his style.

Grandad1943 Fri 21-Aug-20 08:08:02

Urmstongran

So, after all the snide comments, Boris is on holiday in Scotland as he said - not Italy for Stanley’s 80th birthday then, not Greece.

A glamping holiday after all (albeit with a cottage attached).

So many meanies on this thread. I suppose haters are gonna hate.

Well said Urmstongran, at least as leader Boris has been visible often during the crisis.

Starmer however, has been almost completely invisible or bringing up the rear of comment whenever a crisis breaks.

The "Dear Leader" has definitely been found wanting.

Come back May and Corbyn all is forgiven. ???

Meanwhile, the Greater Spotted Boris has been captured - looking like Worzel Gummidge!

Benny from Crossroads was the comparison being used last night on twitter...?

Pantglas2 Fri 21-Aug-20 06:45:38

How lovely Macron looks (his Greek and Spanish counterparts are equally delectable # them out!)
