Where's the P.M.? Shouldn't he be in view, not hiding away ?

Look at the disruptions of recent days;
Exam results and fudged response from Education secretary , passing the buck, stretching the truth about when he really knew about the algorithm,

increase in covid figures
;
Migrants in small boats and Patel's response,

News of contract to work on Ofqual awarded to long term associates of Gove and Cummings without tender.

Not removing whip from MP accused of rape.

So it goes on .Surely a P.M worth his salt should give the nation the impression he is in charge. As usual Johnson is nowhere to be seen.

Of course, in a few weeks time, when several schools have been closed down due to teachers being infected, he’ll be copying Nicola Sturgeon and mandating mask wearing in schools.
She's left it a bit late, they've been back at school for a couple of weeks.

Jabberwok Tue 25-Aug-20 15:43:19

How did Boris walk away from the leadership contest post Brexit?!! He was already leader by then?! Putin? In reply to Maybee70 post referring to him!

Ah well , of course they didn’t take their own baby. Or, maybe they don’t have one at all. Perhaps the couple in Scotland are doubles. The tent is probably for the baby at night so it doesn’t wake them. The dog is left with the baby as a guard.

Oh, for goodness sake !

I predict that Boris will resign soon, citing damage to his health by his ‘being near death’ with Covid, and doing so for the sake of his young family.

In other news, polls showing Keir Starmer more popular that Boris.

Oooh look!

I'm also amazed at people who seem to believe anything as long as it suits their agenda.

I don't think that any of us who have commented on this story really believe it to be true. We're just playing with it... (and hoping it 'might' be true..)

You're taking us a bit too seriously, Oopsminty

MayBee70 Tue 25-Aug-20 15:16:35

Well, was it The Sun had a front page exclusive saying that the Queen supported brexit so nothing surprises me any more.

The Independent claims he intends to step down, blaming after effects from Covid - so no intention of accepting responsibility for the utter shambles he has thrown us all in sad

I'm surprised that those who are less than impressed with Boris seem to believe everything they read online/in the papers.

The father-in-law of Mr Johnson’s top aide Dominic Cummings was reported to have told a holidaymaker that Mr Johnson was still struggling badly with the after-effects of the Covid-19 infection that saw him taken into intensive care in April.

So some holidaymaker goes to the press with details of a conversation which may or may not have happened.

I'm amazed at a media that will launch headlines based solely on the word of someone who allegedly had a chat with Cummings' father-in-law.

I'm also amazed at people who seem to believe anything as long as it suits their agenda.

Don't worry about Putin ! He's had more than his fair share of extra maritals! Two grown up children. wife divorced after 30 years of marriage, mistress gave birth to twins in 2019, the list is endless! Probably approved of on here as a few jolly japes, as obviously the childish pathetic comments about Boris by supposedly intellectual women would never apply to anyone else even when totally justified, particularly Putin!

I'm absolutely baffled by this post, Jabberwok. What has Putin got to do with all this; apart from the fact that he's pulling Boris and Donald's strings?

Are you labouring under some extremely weird misconception about leftwingers that leads you to think that they approve of Putin?

Because if you do, I fear greatly for your comprehension skills...

Wonder if having security guards for the rest of his life will cramp Johnson’s style somewhat

If it didn't cramp John Major (when still in office!) it's not gonna stop Johnson.

MayBee70 Tue 25-Aug-20 15:04:07

He’ll be stood in an empty classroom telling everyone how safe it is for people to send their children back to school. Of course, in a few weeks time, when several schools have been closed down due to teachers being infected, he’ll be copying Nicola Sturgeon and mandating mask wearing in schools.

The PM is out and about today, not sure exactly where as I missed most of the lunchtime news.

MayBee70 Tue 25-Aug-20 14:36:02

Most people who become PM do it for totally different reasons to those which have propelled a Johnson into the job. There was always something fishy about the way that he walked away from the leadership contest post brexit. Everything his does seems to have ulterior motives and they aren’t necessarily about what’s good for the country.

MayBee70 Tue 25-Aug-20 14:32:51

Yes: I do know that lemon grove, but one would assume Cummings wife has a certain amount of influence on him.

lemongrove Tue 25-Aug-20 14:30:42

If it did happen by next Feb...meant to add, I would be pleased if Jeremy Hunt took over at that time.?

lemongrove Tue 25-Aug-20 14:22:53

Cummings is not Wakefield’s son Maybee !

lemongrove Tue 25-Aug-20 14:21:32

Cummings’ FIL was overheard ( allegedly) saying that Johnson would step down as he wasn’t completely well and still suffering from after effects of Covid.Which he probably is, as DH is still not completely well from a similar virus ( or possibly Covid) last Christmas with a stay in ICU for several days.
However, it will get better as time goes on and he should be entirely clear of it by next Feb ( which is the date suggesting he may step down.)
Most people ( possibly all!) who become PM are usually determined to hang onto the job at all costs.

Lucca Tue 25-Aug-20 14:15:34

Sorry should have said my post in response to Jabberwoks

MayBee70 Tue 25-Aug-20 14:15:09

Wonder if having security guards for the rest of his life will cramp Johnson’s style somewhat? Met Wakefield once: mad as a box of frogs sprung to mind although, at the time it never occurred to me that he and his family would have an influence on the politics of this country at a time of world crisis.

Lucca Tue 25-Aug-20 14:14:54

“ Probably approved of on here as a few jolly japes”

Why ? Personally it’s not the PM’s libido that distresses me, it’s his laziness (well documented from school onwards) and inefficiency and lack of honesty.

varian Tue 25-Aug-20 14:14:08

One way or another it has often seemed to be Putin pulling the strings.

MayBee70 Tue 25-Aug-20 14:12:37

For some strange reason I don’t find it reassuring to realise that the PM of this country has similar moral standards to Putin: or am I missing the point?

growstuff Tue 25-Aug-20 14:08:59

I wouldn't trust a word Wakefield says. However, I really do think that Johnson won't last the course.

But I don't have a crystal ball, so who knows?

PS. A bit of gossip ... Mr and Mrs Gove had dinner with Mr and Mrs Murdoch last week (allegedly).
