Thank you Grandad1943. Good points raised. Encouraging.
Voting. I’m so glad we still have the ‘old fashioned’ system…
This government is useless in everything they are doing or not doing. Demonstrations have not been effective. So an online group has been created which it hopes can spread gain millions of people with aim of then saying look we want to remove this useless government.
So what do GNetters think could this work?

What a good idea lemon!!?. Every time a government is unpopular, get up a petition to overthrow it!! No need for any GE's ever again! (Those pesky peasant votes would be a thing of the past,) You could have a petition two, three times a year!! All change, tickets please!!!
Blimey, what next!!
A referendum?
The Tories have the “whip hand” with an 80 seat majority but they are not stupid, we have seen this week how they will bend and change policy with strong public reaction to exam results.
That is how it will be, determined reaction will change policies as it did with Thatcher over the Poll Tax.
How would the Lib/dems fit into any coalition when they remain leaderless since last December!!! When do they anticipate electing a replacement for Jo Swinson? Why so long?!!!
Annie, haven't you heard GE's went out after last December ! Apparently they don't represent public opinion and are doubtless fraudulent! An opinion poll is the way forward, maybe every six months or so just to keep up with the fickle public! You must watch this space carefully!!!!?????
I wasn't aware that April Fools Day had moved to 21st August?
Apologies should be "are constantly witnessing" in my above post. ??
One for pendents corner there.?
I and my company have operated throughout the Covid-19 crisis working alongside other companies in setting up their safety regimes in their workplaces. The one thing that all of us engaged in such work is constantly witnessing how so many in those businesses have overcome the problems they have faced no matter how difficult and complex they were.
The above gives me huge confidence that no matter that whatever further problems both Covid-19 and a now very probable no-deal Brexit, Britain as a nation will overcome such problems.
I have always held throughout my long life strong left wing political views and would wish to see such a left wing government in office. However, that was not the verdict given only seven months back of the electoral system that the United Kingdom operates under at the present time, and further, the electorate has demonstrated no will to change that system when given the opportunity in past elections.
Therefore, we must go forward with the electoral and Parliamentary system we have at present and that will hold many problems for all who reside in the United Kingdom, but the past six months of the Covid crisis have demonstrated that with will and determination any problem can be faced and work through by the people on this country.
This is a sham democracy, perhaps not quite as corrupt as Belarus, but getting there.
Did anyone see 'The Summer of Rockets'?
This is not Belarus. This is a democracy.
Those who criticise me without reading up on the subject matter how about reading www.tabletmagcom article “The truth about George Soros November 19th 2018” or www.city-journal.org “Connoisseur of Chaos/George Soros” as well as www,v4na.com “Anti police anarchists sing from Soros’s hymn sheet”
As much as I despair at this current administration with the well reported and discussed corruption, lack of leadership, lies etc., I don't want them out of office. I want them to own the mess of their own making, the accumulation of 10+ years of unnecessary and politically motivated austerity, the fast approaching Brexit social and economic disaster, and their appalling handling of the covid19 pandemic.
No way, this is the way that the French Revolution started (not online of course), which, whilst a good idea to start with, finished up with the TERROR and Napoleon.
Democracy may not be the best way to run a country, but it is infinitely better than any viable alternatives on offer including this lunacy.
An insurance based scheme for the NHS would be a very good idea. Perhaps people would finally start to appreciate it!!!
“ A group has been created with the aim of removing the government “
Erm, isn’t there already one? The opposition?
I don’t think we can have a ‘coalition’ because the majority is too big. In order to change the government, there must be an election.

So who’s going to do it better then? I’d love to meet them!
I’m quite interested in who could do worse.
I think you’re right Devorgilla.
The Tories themselves to ditch BJ at whatever they perceive as the right time. I suspect it won’t happen until after December 31st this year.
I'll just ask again.
How would we select the members if the new coalition? Practically. The actual process not the ideology.
Who would be running the country while whatever it is is being put into place?
growstuff, 10.18am, absolutely right. It will be the Tories themselves who remove Johnson. The Tories have always got rid of those they see as failing or less electable. They will keep him only a long as he is useful and takes the hit for Brexit and the fallout from COVID19. Who will replace him is anyone's guess. I doubt there will be an election before 2024. Who gives up power with a majority like that? After the election I hope we will have a Labour victory with KS as PM. 'Red Wall' Tory MPs were elected to 'get Brexit done'. How will they react once it is done? Amazing how loyalties can change when your pay packet, and seat, is on the line.
The trouble is that with this useless inadequate corrupt government people are wondering what can they do to lesson will the damage.
Four years is long time to wait and in that time won't have much of a democracy Selling our NHS to America we will have insurance based system for one thing
So who’s going to do it better then? I’d love to meet them!

What I think is... that the Lefties of the world have no respect for democracy.
Last 4 UK elections...lost
EU referendum ...lost
Scotland referendum...lost
USA Democrats ...lost
the last 2 European Elections .....lost
Wouldn’t time be better spent working out how to reunite the shattered Labour Party and coming to some kind of compromise that would convince the electorate that it would be safe to vote them in again. Trying to blame everyone else and potentially evoke a civil war really doesn’t help at all.
Wouldn’t there need to be an election to change the government?
Bring down the democratically elected government? That might not end so well? No matter how much you lie to yourself, that is precisely what is being suggested and how other dictators got started.
I suppose you’re not the first to think a dictatorship is a good idea. They never seem to work out as promised and a lot of people end up in prison or dead, often those closest to the new regime leader who suddenly fears a threat to his (or her) newly found power.
Good job we live in a democracy because, with treasonous opinions expressed here, a number of Grannynetters would be waiting for a knock on their door and would never be heard of again!
Rubbish! The lefties are getting desperate.
