He has more than enough material attacking Johnson on his abysmal record. Who said “when they go low we go high”? ?

PMQs should be exactly that in order that parliament and the wider public can clarify the government action etc.

Johnson is unable to answer anything!! It is a terrible indictment of his lack of ability.

It’s a poor tactic as we know there is far more dirt to dish up on Johnson.

I see that Johnson furiously blamed his team for his poor performance at PMQs last week ??

He has ordered them to find as much personal stuff as they can to attack Starmer.

What a sad little man he is. He can’t win the argument intellectually because he is not quick witted enough, so he resorts to name calling.

I suppose there are some who will be convinced by this, but only the not terribly bright I would have thought.

Does the President have to be a top notch debater, though? Or just a Good Egg?

Anyway, that was 30 years ago. He's clearly lost any debating skills he might have had. Lying has done him proud for decades, so why bother to put any intellectual effort into anything now?

He was President of the Oxford Union in the 80's that is supposed to be a top notch debating Society.

Are people still putting their boys down for Eton? Boris has proved such a poor advertisement for the school I would have thought they would be looking elsewhere. Wasn't he supposed to be a leading light of the debating society and yet he has trouble stringing words together to make a sentence?

Boris got away with at the last election because it was all about Brexit, he is the one who get us out at whatever cost. OK JC wasn't popular but how do we know he couldn't have done a better job during the pandemic? All I can really say is the Tories will have Boris out at a blink if they think they will lose votes. And god help us next year.

I’m just amazed that he pulled the wool over electors eyes at the last election, he was a proven liar then, who blustered his way through everything. Murdoch did a good job of propaganda for him.

The Tories are a disgrace putting him up as a candidate, they knew exactly what he was like, another performance at PQ like that will see him go. It’s going to be a poisoned chalice again but I guess Gove will want it.

Good post Whitewave - that's how I think of Johnson.
The problem is, before he was even elected London mayor, many people thought he was a brilliant intellectual so would save the country.
We're only getting to know now his real capabilities.

I'm struggling to see a link between liking Johnson and being discerning. I cannot see that he has any of the qualities need to be PM, but maybe that's just me.

Aww, you didn’t offend me at all Alegrias. We’re supposed to be able to talk on differences of opinion without getting rattled. So thank you?. You’re probably right about this government, we’ll just have to wait and see. Maybe what should happen is, everyone gets to have ‘ a go’, for 6 months, and the best performer wins?! We might all be pleasantly surprised.

DiscoDancer1975 I hope you don't feel I was getting at you, I was genuinely interested in why you liked Johnson and if it was enough it make you vote differently to usual.
You are of course entitled to your opinion and I'm sure voted for the party you feel will do the best job.
I have a deep concern that in this country we now vote for the most popular person and not the person we think would be best suited for the job, that was the source of my question. Thank you for taking the time to answer.
You won't be surprised to read that I can't abide the man or his party and think they are leading us into an abyss....but that's my opinion

Maybee and Alegrias. I would. have thought anyone would prefer someone genuine, or ‘ real’ in your words, to lead our country. I see Boris as being obvious, you get what you see. Someone’ polished’ is not necessarily that, more a sheep in wolves clothing.
I don’t know why I like Boris, but I’ve always been very discerning. Whether I’m right or not, I don’t know. I do know I’m not alone, because he was voted in! It would be difficult for anyone to say precisely, why they like or don’t like someone they don’t know. All I do know is, I’m fairly satisfied, as much as anyone can be, that this government are doing the best they can regards Covid.
I hope this has answered your questions. I shall not be returning to this thread, as, as I said before, I don’t usually get involved in the political ones. Too much scope for people to get angry. It’s just my opinion, and I respect you for yours.
