Please leave the political comments to Meghan.

Just keep it zipped

^If Meghan follows her dream into politics they're going to need some seriously rich and influential friends.^
Oh but wouldn't it be great if she became President! The problems it would cause if they made a state visit to the UK in say 10 years time. Who goes first? Harry because he's the President's other half or William because he is heir to the throne??? grin

grin trisher, and maybe Meghan would barge ahead of Charles like Trump did with Her Majesty!

I think the point you are making merlotgran is very valid. Especially about their titles. I imagine there will be a tipping point which will push them in one direction or the other.

I did read Meghan had meetings with Michelle Obama recently.
Joining together to encourage women to vote.

Making contacts for the future??

The median age of the USA is 37years, (UK is around 38-39) which is their age isnt it?

That and anyone younger is the demographic they are hoping to influence, IMV.
More floating voters in that age range as well.

Meghan is determined to rise to the top, and Harry, being royalty is opening doors to facilitate this.

The only thing that might impede her/their progress is the constant me, me, me, the whining, her conceit and entitlement, Oh and their greed!
All of which they seem oblivious of!

Seeing as loads of top dogs seem to have the same juvenile traits they should be OK!! grin

Thanks for the Jan Moir link, she gets them to a T!!

I spoke to my son who lives in the US about this. He reads a lot of media for his work and he said it has barely been reported in America. He only knew of it because he saw it on the BBC website.

Thank God for that given he's a laughing stock here. Hopefully he's irrelevant there.

I don’t think that’s high on my son’s viewing list, Oopsminty! grin

I'm laughing here!

No, I'm sure it's not smile

If Meghan follows her dream into politics they're going to need some seriously rich and influential friends.

They don't seem to care that their popularity has nosedived in the UK but the same could happen in the USA.

They'd have to give up their titles and despite their constant criticism of the RF there is still a great deal of respect for the Queen.

Mr and Mrs Markle doesn't have much of a ring to it.

He had a sense of humour in those days then, Jaberwok!

Jaberwok Fri 25-Sept-20 15:23:11

Yes! I remember she was known as Princess Pushy!! I think she's more low-key these days!! Which member of the RF when asked, said that their least favourite task would be tea with Princess Michael'? Was it Prince Harry?!!!!

Anniebach Fri 25-Sept-20 14:55:07

“She is such an attention seeker she’d turn up to the opening of an envelope “

Think this was said of Princess Michael of Kent years ago

She has popped up on America's Got Talent.

She sure knows how to get around

Meghan .manages to look totally at ease and eager to lecture us all, in fact looks extremely pleased with life as I'm sure she is! Harry? looks sad, anxious, crouched on the seat, and generally miserable! You can be serious and enthusiastic, and smile!!! Harry looks as if he's terrified of performing badly and the consequences that will follow. In other words he's frightened of MM! Domestic abuse?!!

He certainly looked dejected from his body language, slumped and downcast, fiddling with his wedding ring. She on the other hand, looked upright and brighteyed and confident.

Callistemon

trisher

Callistemon she would have needed an account with a bookie as well.

Oh, I forgot that!
Would she have been able to pay her rent if she lost on the gee gees?

No she'd be permanently behind, so she'd have to start shop lifting the gin.

Actually the tour was undertaken at the request of the Foreign Office who thought there would be economic opportunities in Africa post Brexit and M&H were the people most likely to be able to promote British interests. The charity work was their own private initiative.

Anniebach Fri 25-Sept-20 13:29:19

merlot the visit to S.A. was to publicise the charities , no publicly for any charities just a tv interview about themselves.

merlotgran Fri 25-Sept-20 13:10:05

Interesting reports emerging today about the cost of H&M's South African tour.

£250,000 and despite the visit being a success they still felt the need to bleat about their hardships and announce they were suing the press!

Thereby trashing the whole thing.

Queen Mum did very well and became best friend with the West Indian lady next door- they had a hoot.

No doubt speaking in a Beryl Reid accent!

biba70 Fri 25-Sept-20 13:01:38

According to Sue (sadly died of complications of Diabetes quite some years back) - Queen Mum did very well and became best friend with the West Indian lady next door- they had a hoot.

Jaberwok Fri 25-Sept-20 12:55:21

Yes, I think the Queen Mother might have had difficulty accommodating all her 'baggage ' in more ways than one!!!!???

Jaberwok Fri 25-Sept-20 12:52:17

Bowing and curseying are not obligatory any more even to the Queen. People do so presumably because they want to not because they have to. Shaking hands is perfectly acceptable these days.

Callistemon Fri 25-Sept-20 12:36:18

I remember that book, biba

Somehow I can't imagine the Queen Mum adapting to life in a council house unless there was space for her butlers and a large cabinet for her gin and Dubonnet!
