And it says she called for Dominic Cummings' resignation, you couldn't make it up!

Yes, Stephen Kinnock was the first ( that we know of) to bend the rules, and yes, it is a spectrum of seriousness with the latest SNP Margaret Ferrier being at the worst end.Johnson is everybody's leader btw ( even if you didn’t vote for him.)
There is a range of fines in place, but for smaller transgressions ( Corbyn and Stanley J) there is presumably a warning first, then fines if it happened again.

Chew see my post to Jabber

suziewoozie Sat 03-Oct-20 15:07:52

The real point is that the breaking of rules/guidance/ laws has not been dealt with in a structured and transparent way. Yes of course it’s a spectrum and MF is at the far end of it but real leadership in addressing breaches in this ( and everything else todo with COVId ) has been and continues to be spectacularly absent. Johnson is no,leader. Who knew? ?

Chewbacca Sat 03-Oct-20 15:02:50

Stephen Kinnock was found to have breached COVID guidelines when he visited his father on the 28th March, just 1 week into the national lockdown. Was there another MP who decided that the pandemic guidelines didn't apply to them before him suziewoozie?

suziewoozie Sat 03-Oct-20 15:02:39

It’s nothing to do with the dates - what started everything were the revelations about Cummings and your leader’s refusal to condemn him. As if Kinnock started anything fgs.

Jaberwok Sat 03-Oct-20 14:59:51

Kinnock visited his parents on 28th March, Cummings travelled on the 29th . Blackford equally travelled to Skye during lockdown. However, this latest episode is by far the most serious, and does beggar belief! Dear old Jeremy has apologised for presumably not being able to count, so that's ok. Stanley ditto presumably for being senile ( must remember that one).

suziewoozie Sat 03-Oct-20 14:41:46

Jaberwok

It all started with Stephen Kinnock actually!

That’s just not true but hey, whatever version of reality floats the right wing boat ?

Jaberwok Sat 03-Oct-20 14:34:15

It all started with Stephen Kinnock actually!

biba70 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:39:34

She should - asap. But it all started with Cummings - and herein is the massive hypocrisy. Rules and sanctions should be applied to all- irrespective of political views or affiliation.

She’s had the whip withdrawn. I’m so fed up and ?? . What is the matter with these people - but this is the most egregious example yet

Exactly.

suziewoozie Sat 03-Oct-20 12:33:43

Nan she has been asked to resign - for some unfathomable reason she has not. There is nothing more that can be done pending the outcome of the Standards Committee.

Nannan2 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:31:53

How many folk are actually going to vote her in again next time, after this??

Nannan2 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:30:29

Well not sacked then, but asked to stand down then surely?!

Nannan2 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:29:11

This idiot of a woman could easily have rung H of C's & explained why she wouldnt be coming and im sure a representative of some sort could have been found to read out whatever she was speaking about when it showed her on tv.

Ilovecheese Sat 03-Oct-20 12:26:27

She can't be sacked. MPs are elected and self employed, so don't have an employer to sack them.

They should behave honourably though, to deserve the title of honourable member.

Nannan2 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:24:43

Police not fining such as them? Yet some £1000 fines were issued to 'normal' folk who had not isolated after returning from holiday? But the MP's & boris' father can most probably afford this fine! Ridiculous!?

Nannan2 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:20:40

Whats this about a whip? Why cant they just sack her? I dont get that.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:10:25

If is being reported in the Scottish Press that the day she had her test she also went to the gym, a beauty salon and a gift shop!!!!

Totally irresponsible behaviour.

I wish her a speedy recovery with hopefully no long lasting effects.

Wheniwasyourage Sat 03-Oct-20 11:51:19

First let me repeat that I think Margaret Ferrier was completely wrong and should resign. Then, can I point out that while on another thread we are urged to wish Donald Trump well now that he has tested positive, there seems to be no sympathy nor good wishes for this woman who has also tested positive?

I cannot believe, however careless she has been, that she can have directly infected as many people as DT has been responsible for indirectly.

Jaberwok Sat 03-Oct-20 10:16:25

Not only that, no doubt this lady used a taxi or public transport to travel to the train station, again on arriving in London to travel to the H of C, and yet again when returning to the train station to go back to Scotland, and finally from the station to her home, unless she could walk or use bike! Even then you risk contact with other people!! All in all, foolish, and that's being kind!!!!

Lucca Sat 03-Oct-20 08:30:04

I read that fines are not to be issued to corbyn or Johnson snr as police prefer it to be last resort. What’s the point of saying there will be fines then? We may well be a freedom loving nation but surely desperate times call for desperate measures?

LullyDully Sat 03-Oct-20 08:22:48

Is there a monetary fine for such bad behaviour? A fine for everything else. She should have sought advice to be honest, rather than travel to and from London. After 6 odd months no one is under any illusions about how deadly this can be for some people. No excuse.

Alegrias Sat 03-Oct-20 08:17:05

Jaberwok

I expect she thought her test would prove negative particularly as she felt better. When it was positive I expect she panicked and blindly made off back to her home asap without stopping to think, thus making the situation a hundred times worse! Extremely foolish but I doubt malicious.

I think you're right Jaberwok, that sounds very likely.

Alegrias Sat 03-Oct-20 08:09:08

Sing19

@Alegrias "the Ferrier thing" what a disgusting way to refer to any woman.

You realise, do you, Sing19, that it wasn't me who referred to her that way? That I was pointing out that another poster had used that phrase and I'm hoping she didn't write that intentionally? Because it's obviously unacceptable?

Washerwoman Sat 03-Oct-20 05:39:23

Even before Cummings I was cross that Stepthen Kinnock drove all the way from Wales to London to see his parents as we were all at that point being advised to exercise from home and not to make any unnecessary journeys. But this latest one by Margaret Ferrier is by far the worst, travelling by train twice and potentially infecting hundreds. And not isolating and waiting for her test result .She should have resigned immediately.
