Didn’t Cummings travel under the belief (or lie) that one at least of his party had Covid?
His crime was absolutely no different and yet still he continues .
I actually got annoyed by a journalist on Today I think it was, who suggested that most people had probably broken the rules because they thought it OK.
Well, I haven’t, and I’m sure many on here haven’t. I resent that sort of implication!

Yet another MP who doesn't keep the rules, what a hypocrite!

And it says she called for Dominic Cummings' resignation, you couldn't make it up!
You’re on the wrong thread, Paddyanne.
However, since you’ve made this post here, where did I say IB had done anything illegal? I merely commented that he’d been subject to scrutiny.
can I just point out to Suedonim....After Ian Blackford criticised Cummings he was lamblasted over travelling 600 miles himself.
", some picked up on Mr Blackford announcing he had travelled the over 600 mile trip from London to his home on March 26.
And Mr Blackford, who has repeatedly called for Mr Cummings to be fired, then explained that he would isolate from everyone "given the prevalence of the virus in London".
The tweet ignited an online debate over whether Mr Blackford should have travelled at all. And most wrongly stated that Mr Blackford was suffering from Covid symptoms.
Sources close to Mr Blackford, said he and other MPs returned home from London, which they were entitled to do, and he has been based on Skye ever since. Many of his appearances in the House of Commons and on TV broadcasts have come from his home.
Sources say he did not have symptoms and had taken the decision to isolate as an extreme precaution because his wife Ann had a lung condition.
Mr Blackford's tweet stated: "Returned to Skye from Westminster but into isolation as a precaution away from Ann and everyone else given the prevalence of the virus in London. The right thing go do but hard not seeing Ann. #StayHomeSaveLives."
M r Blackford, along with his wife moved to the Isle of Skye in 2004, buying a croft that had previously been Mrs Blackford's family for hundreds of years.
He went home.Nothing illegal about that !
paddyanne you didn't actually give an opinion on this MP's flagrant disregard for possibly hundreds of peoples' safety. Do you condemn her selfish actions and agree she has to pay the price for those actions, which would be her resignation (or sacking/deselection) as she felt that was the appropriate result of Cummings actions?
Quite shocking. Add to that the photo of Corbyn with 8 dinner guests. Maybe I’m wrong but I think I recall a man being given a prison sentence for intentionally spreading HIV. Is that a precedent for it being a crime to knowingly spread a disease? If so, then anyone knowingly breaking quarantine is surely committing a crime. Instead of a fine “for breaking quarantine” why not call it what it is “ a fine for recklessly spreading Covid”. ( As in this is why the word shoplifting is misleading, the crime is “stealing from shops”. ) I feel slightly better for having a rant. My houseplants are benefitting from all the ranting to them. Better go and calm down. No wonder I am so nervous of going out and about.
I believe your remark was aimed at me lemongrove If so then I can assure you I dont think the SNP is "saintly" there are good and bad in all parties and they should all be criticised when and where necessary.I am a supporter though ,because they are our best chance of getting out of this DIS united kingdom .Like most people I do disagree with party policies ...now and again .I disagree with TORY policy always though so who to support is a no brainer .
Cummings was disgraceful, the way Johnson and co co-operated with his lying cover-up statement was disgraceful, but I remember lots of posters declaring that his breaking of the rules did not excuse anybody else breaking the rules. Suddenly, here and on other social media Cummings' behaviour is the excuse for other parties not to bring their miscreants to full justice. On that basis why on earth have I subjected my special needs grandson to his (perceived) torture that our separation because of Covid 19 was. For months he couldn't see me, and it's looking that way again soon. Perhaps in the event of more restrictions I should just make a "mistake", except my law abiding son and special needs grandson keep the rules!!!
It makes me think she won't be the only one breaking the rules and she has owned up. Others won't be so encouraged to own up if this MP gets dragged through the mud.
Just a thought.
They're the worst offenders aren't they ?
I could count on one hand the times I've had my D here since March ! I have a big " celebration " this weekend-----there'll only be me here.
I'm so vexed when I think of others who've more or less carried on as normal. I honestly give up.

lemongrove I am a stickler for rules, I am asthmatic, I manage to wear a mask and my glasses steam up. I just find it hypocritical when people find any excuse to absent themselves from the rules Plenty of examples over the last six months on GN!
Quite right too??
Cummings started this off. By his actions, he condoned this behaviour. By not sacking him (never a cat in hells chance of that), Boris has also condoned it.
Can't expect other parties to toe the line, if those leading the country can't.
Yes, she should resign, if she has any conscience at all. Disgusting way to behave. To KNOWINGLY move amongst the general public while infectious? To my mind, it should be an arrestable offence.

it is not about who is worse, or less bad, or whatever.
All should be fined and punished accordingly.
Flipping heck I totally agree with you ??

Have they??
No excuse, unless a health matter.
This is utterly infuriating! I’ve just cancelled a visit to my dd who’s been working long hours in a hospital and could do with a bit of moral support yet this woman thinks she can wander around selfishly spreading the virus willynilly. Of course she’s sorry - she got caught!

Stanley Johnson went into a shop without a mask, I suggest posters read some of the GN threads with GN posters admitting to not wearing masks.
I can’t believe Johnson senior didn’t know the rules...he is playing the ‘I’m 80’ card.
What this SNP MP did was much worse ....and to do it now as well, just when the figures for positive Covid tests are spiralling upwards.Unbelievable.
and not surprisingly lemon- Cummings should have been punished, and so should they all, Johnson's dad included. Every one getting away with it is a massive signal that it is OK to ignore the rules.
lemon unfortunately I think you are right.
I expect we will hear of many more examples over the course of the next six months sadly.
There was a thread today where the OP told us her dinner guests told her they had just had tests done.....yet had still shown up for the evening.
Most decent folk doing their best to abide by the rules despite the hardship it brings. Families separated, folk suffering loneliness and depression. Care home residents separated from their families since March. Relatives standing outside care home windows trying to hold a conversation and reassure their loved ones, many of whom don’t even recognise them now. Relatives not allowed to visit their nearest and dearest in hospital unless an end of life situation. Many were even denied that. Vulnerable people of all ages forced to shield for months.
Then we have someone involved in the rule making thinks it was ok to make an 800 mile round trip by train potentially infecting everyone around her.
I can’t even summon up the energy to get angry. I’m just so bloody depressed when I read about this act of crass stupidity and reckless behaviour.
There’d be very few in the HoC I bet!
I don't care if they are Tories, or Labour, Leavers or Remainers, Scottish or Welsh- Politicians who flout the rules, should be fined and made an example of- end of story.
And so should their close allies or relatives, be fined- no exception. It all started with Cummings- and it has cause so so much resentment and disobedience by so many.
