Won’t do a virtual debate - should be empty chaired. Good news

What a relief that someone so delusional will no longer be president.

If only him leaving office would heal the rifts and ugly schisms of hate in America

It’s looking likely that Trump has made arrangements to travel to Scotland the day before the inauguration. I wonder how the Scottish government will handle this since there is now a full lockdown, his golf course will probably be closed and will he even be able to enter the country?

Elegran Mon 04-Jan-21 20:54:18

He should be told in no uncertain terms that no-one will be allowed into the country.

Rhinestone Tue 05-Jan-21 10:34:19

Jane43 like you know thought there was nothing he could do now to incite madness in me. And there it was. What happens Wednesday will be interesting. If enough congress people object and want an investigation into voter fraud it can be done postponing the formality of Pence declaring a winner. And every one of those objectors should be tried for seditious activity in my opinion. I just want to get to the 20th at noon.

Jane43 Tue 05-Jan-21 13:22:35

Trump is now turning on Pence saying he’s not fighting hard enough for him, no wonder Pence is going to leave the country on official business on January 7th. I just don’t see how these GOP members can demand further investigations into voter fraud, despite very little evidence there have been numerous investigations, recounts, court cases and the only instances of voter fraud have been votes for Trump. At the Georgia press conference yesterday there was a board with all of the claims of fraud itemised and opposite all the facts negating the claims, the only outstanding item was a check on 40 or so signatures of votes from service personnel, even if all these were disqualified it would make no difference to the outcome. It is just a game for Trump, a game he thought his disregard for rules and his perceived power, popularity and money would ensure he won. There are several sources saying what he is doing now is what he planned to do if he lost in 2016, everything he is doing is a game plan which wasn’t used in 2016.

If the two Democrats win in Georgia then hopefully impeachment proceedings will begin because Democrats will have the majority in the senate and the HOR. It may seem futile and vindictive to impeach somebody who is so close to the exit door but it would mean he couldn’t stand for public office and he is already saying he will stand for Governor of Georgia in 2022 not because he wants to but because of what happened after his phone call last Saturday.

Like you Rhinestone I just want him gone on January 20th, his influence has done so much damage in a country where dear friends of ours live.

The latest Trump news is that Prestwick airport, near Trump’s Turnberry golf course resort, has been told to expect - on 19th January - a US military Boeing 757 that has occasionally been used by Trump
Would he receive a warm welcome or a hot reception in Scotland? I wonder if he realises that he would be obliged to self-isolate on arrival.grin

varian Tue 05-Jan-21 14:19:51

I wonder if there is any way Trump can be kept out of Scotland.

Ramblingrose22 Tue 05-Jan-21 16:18:10

Well, if he decides to turn up in Scotland I hope he remembers that the climate is not like Florida! And if the golf course is closed how's he going to spend his time? He can't even enjoy the whisky as he hates alcohol.

I can't imagine him leaving the White House though!

Smileless2012 Tue 05-Jan-21 16:23:45

He shouldn't be allowed to go because of Covid but if he is and he does, I hope someone changes all the locks at the
White House.

Jane43 Tue 05-Jan-21 17:36:49

Nicola Sturgeon was asked about Trump visiting Scotland during her briefing and her reply was that he wouldn’t be allowed to play golf in Scotland, that international travel to Scotland will only be allowed for essential reasons and playing golf isn’t an essential reason. But when has he ever listened to anybody else?

varian Tue 05-Jan-21 17:38:55

I hope that NS has the power to instruct Prestwick airport not to allow him to land there and she has no hesitation in issuing that instruction.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 05-Jan-21 18:15:40

There seems no reason why he should be allowed into Scotland. The man is a menace.

MaizieD Tue 05-Jan-21 18:40:54

I was seeing rumours on twitter last night that if Trump won't leave the White House all its services will be cut off - power, water etc!

Biden will run the Presidency from an alternative venue until Trump's out and the White House deep cleaned.

Just a rumour, but amusing...

Whitewavemark2 Tue 05-Jan-21 18:45:33

Actually deep cleaning doesn’t seem so daft. Trump has never been covid careful and I would ask for a deep clean if I was moving in after Trump.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 05-Jan-21 18:46:53

Tomorrow looks shaping up to be interesting? what will Pence do?

Jane43 Tue 05-Jan-21 23:18:13

Some pro Trump attorney named Lin Wood, don’t know what his role is, says because Pence hasn’t joined the law suit requesting Pence’s authority to overturn the result of the election he should be arrested, charged with treason and executed by a firing squad. The request has been denied anyway. People like this are dangerous in the extreme and he should be arrested for inciting violence. I do fear for Mike Pence, I don’t agree with his politics or his religious views but nobody should be put in the position he’s in.

Tomorrow should also see the result of the Georgia run-offs and Trump has requested his supporters turn up in Washington DC to support him so it will be an eventful day and I fear for people’s safety.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 06-Jan-21 08:56:02

So even though we are in lockdown, we can’t say life isn’t interesting at the moment in the USA.

We can all watch in glorious detail as Pence decides whether to follow the constitution or Trumps instructions.

Trump is desperately trying to avoid the inauguration by flying off to Scotland, although Scotland has told him he isn’t welcome.

At the moment it looks as if one Democrat has just squeaked the win in Georgia, but no news of the other seat although the opinion is that it is neck and neck.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 06-Jan-21 09:12:40

As you’d expect Trump is already claiming the result is a fraud.

At the moment it looks as if the democrats have won both seats.

Jane43 Wed 06-Jan-21 10:16:05

Trump’s claims of fraud were predictable, he is just an embarrassment now.

Let’s hope the Democrats have won both seats which will mean they control the senate making life easier for Biden to make the changes he wants to make.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 06-Jan-21 10:26:58

Mitch McConnell - minority leader ? sounds good doesn’t it?

Rhinestone Wed 06-Jan-21 10:33:21

I’m so happy with the two wins in Georgia. Now maybe we can get some legislature that will be in the best interest of the people and not just Trumps best interest. I cannot believe what we have lived through the last four years.
I know someone in Washington who said there will be six contested states and that means a day of discussion between parties.
They also said there are a few groups ready to cause some chaos on the 20th.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 06-Jan-21 10:51:07

It looks as if Republicans are beginning to blame Trump for the Georgia result.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 06-Jan-21 11:14:28

Does anyone know if rosecarmel is OK, only I haven’t seen her post lately. I tried pming her but she isn’t receiving pms.

Just hope she isn’t sick.

Jane43 Wed 06-Jan-21 12:20:40

I was only thinking of rosecarmel yesterday and considering messaging her. I hope she is ok too.

Jane43 Wed 06-Jan-21 12:26:49

I am happy with the results too Rhinestone. Does that mean a day of discussion per contested state? If so they are using delaying tactics but they are only delaying the inevitable. I read that the leader of The Proud Boys has been banned from visiting Washington DC for 6 months but there are plenty more unhinged people to cause trouble.
