I watched CNN Live just at the start of the proceedings. They interviewed some Trump supporters who are saying they are going to take America back. Back from what? How do their minds work? Why do they equate a Democratic government with communism? It isn’t as if there haven’t been Democratic Governments before so it can’t be fear of the unknown. It just baffles me.

As for Trump he was saying Antifa aren't welcome in DC but he was actively encouraging MAGA supporters. He’s still saying he won the election ‘by a landslide’ and these people take it all in. He must have some kind of mental illness or dementia and his family are just letting it happen.

Trump has encouraged sedition. He needs arresting.

Trumps pernicious influence is not only destroying democracy in the US but I would suggest also the Republican Party itself.
I have no brief for the Republicans but if they want to salvage a shred of respectability as a legitimate political party, the sooner they cut Trump adrift and totally distance themselves from him, the better.

Why did I do that? Non live in partner texted to say don’t watch the news it’s terrifying. So I did. Hideous Covid news about UK followed but report from Washington of totally unhinged Trump supporters. One man on camera talked completely incoherently
