Starmer calling for lockdown (Edited by GNHQ)

Seems that Labour are breaking ranks and calling for a 2/3 week lockdown. Some Sage members agree and Whitty said that we are not doing enough. Personally I would support it, although it's not going to be popular. Looking at the mass gathering in Liverpool last night it's no wonder we are heading off a cliff.

Someone must have reported our deleted posts as I understand GN doesn’t monitor threads.

Maizie and Galaxy ?

LauraNorder Wed 28-Oct-20 21:57:53

I have no idea what has been said today. I have not been on my laptop or phone today. I have not been on this thread for over a week. I had a message out of the blue from GN tonight regarding a post I made 12 days ago for which I had much support through private messaging. I don't wish to be dragged in to anything that is happening this evening. I request that my previous posts are not quoted as this thread seems to have become ridiculous.

Galaxy Wed 28-Oct-20 21:50:17

I dont even know who our leader issmile

MaizieD Wed 28-Oct-20 21:48:40

We're all undercover socialist agents who are waiting for the nod from our leader to start the coup

OMG, Alegrias! I'm going to have to kill you now...

Galaxy Wed 28-Oct-20 21:09:42

And those of us who are centre left will be at the back saying steady now grin

Alegrias2 Wed 28-Oct-20 20:49:00

No its not that Janpt. Its because you at least are incredibly rude and disrespectful to people.

Either that or its a conspiracy and the revolution will start with Gransnetters. We're all undercover socialist agents who are waiting for the nod from our leader to start the coup hmm

LauraNorder Wed 28-Oct-20 20:48:09

Looks as if I have too Janpt. My comment from 12 days ago has been deleted today and I have had a warning from GHQ for calling another poster nasty in retaliation for her being nasty.
I don't even know what occurred today as I have been busy elsewhere.
It is all very biased.
No doubt this will be deleted in a minute, hey ho.

Janpt Wed 28-Oct-20 20:38:33

Looks as if myself Janpt and JenniferEccles have been given special treatment by having our posts removed. I wonder if it's because we are not Labour supporters ?

Hi all - it'd be great to get this thread back on track. Personal spats aren't helpful to anybody, and can detract from an otherwise important discussion. flowers

your recent one liners have been pretty rude and cutting JE- and made me wonder the same.

growstuff

LauraNorder

Growstuff printing money is the biggest cause of inflation, the last thing this country needs now is runaway inflation. This is why I agree strongly in local lockdown first to try to nurse the economy along in order to help health across the board.
We all need to make sacrifices.

[sigh]

As you don't like long posts and you probably wouldn't understand anyway, I'm not going to go into a detailed explanation about how quantitative easing does not necessarily lead to inflation. There are various measures the Treasury can take to prevent rampant inflation, including raising interest rates and taking the money out of circulation when the economy is recovering.

The immediate crisis is that millions of people in certain areas of the UK will lose their businesses and jobs, unless they are supported NOW.

Agreed varian.

I don't think you have to be a conspiracy theorist to be suspicious of Cummings.

Iam64 Fri 16-Oct-20 19:50:46

varian, I try to avoid conspiracy theories but Demonic raises my feet off the floor. I cannot see him as a source for good no matter how hard I try.

growstuff Fri 16-Oct-20 19:39:55

Suits me LauraNorder.

Three years in Russia.

varian Fri 16-Oct-20 19:18:15

Lest not forget that DC spent tbfee years in Russia.

Why should anyone assume that he has the best interests of our counry at heart?

Iam64 Fri 16-Oct-20 18:48:46

growstuff, I hadn't read that and will google - that Demonic C said a "dislike of the south should be encouraged in the north"

He is a destroyer isn't he. On record as saying he wants to destroy our civil service, our institutions. He wants chaos and the breakdown of society as we know it. How does an unelected man with such dangerous ideas end up running ur country?

varian Fri 16-Oct-20 17:39:39

Please remember that inflation is at a historic low. So now must be the time to "print money" if there ever was a time. Our government, if it had the will to do so, could protect businesses and individuals and at the same time fight this virus.

It is not a choice between health and wealth. We can prioritise protecting health and still protect businesses.
