Can I ask what the GN leave voters think about this without the thread descending into vitriol please?

Davidhs

Come on Lemongrove tell us just 3 positives about Brexit.

Please.

That’s being ambitious.

I’d settle for one

^Because you are so fixated on the negatives of leaving the EU I think it’s now impossible for you to envisage any positives.^

We're still waiting to find out what the positives are, lemon. We've been asking for the last 4 years and still haven't had a convincing response.

Apparently it’s much more interesting for them to tell us there will be positives but not what they are because we can’t see them yet.

Cummings will have the Lords in his sights.

How very dare they!!

The House of Lords has just voted by huge majority of 226 to indicate its likely rejection of Johnson’s Internal Market Bill provisions for override the Good Friday Agreement & international law

564 peers voted: one of the largest votes in the entire history of the Lords!

I tell you what- shall we all agree with the ‘we are all doooomed’ scenario to put paid to all these incredibly predictable and tediously negative threads once and for all?

?
I think it would be easier all round Jennifer as the threads are like Groundhog Day.

Similar than to those threads that love to bash Meghan Markle for daring to breathe?

Maizie you just beat me to it. I scrolled back to the beginning to see whether any positives had been mentioned but, as per usual, there weren't any.

Johnson mentioned the bright future that's ahead of us but without an explanation of how we get there. I guess he was setting an example to his supporters - beliefs but no firm facts.

Did anyone answer the OP ?

Lucca Tue 20-Oct-20 09:51:09

Oh no I was afraid that’s what you meant. Where did you go ? A long and varied tour round I trust.

Reminds me of a friend who said she didn’t like Italy based on a weeks package holiday in lido di Jesolo.....

Covid is now the main problem for the UK ( and other countries!)
How about waiting for the end of this week, the talks are still going on, we are not at the moment, leaving without making a deal. This depressive repetitive chat about how awful everything is no doubt enjoyable for some to engage in, otherwise why do it all the time? Misery loves company.

ayse Tue 20-Oct-20 09:48:57

Firstly, I haven’t read the whole thread.

Secondly I’ve just heard on LBC that Boris has refused to reopen talks. I can’t help thinking that there is a hidden agenda here! I know that conspiracy theories are about and I don’t necessarily subscribe to them BUT it seems our government is descending into government by decree.

I have no respect at all for Tory members of parliament who criticise but do not take any positive action to prevent this government’s outrageous behaviour.

The government is rushing headlong into impoverishing huge numbers of people and I suspect the majority have no idea how difficult life may be in the future.

As an aside, I heard a professional photographer (and others) on LBC yesterday, talking about their unemployment experiences and finally realising that Universal Credit did not provide the safety net they were expecting.

No Deal and Covid are cooking the goose very effectively for vast numbers of our population.

The whole situation is frightening and we all know what happened in Germany prior to WW2. Truly scary times.

So lemon what will be better, come Jan 31st, for me & you, as a direct result of the divorce from the EU?

Jaberwok Tue 20-Oct-20 09:48:00

Honestly Lemon.el al, just ignore these people or better still agree!!!! If you say so comes to mind!! As for Spain ? One visit was enough to make me never to want to go there again! Is that clear. or is more explanation needed?!

Grany Tue 20-Oct-20 09:46:23

MaizieD I agree with you.

The question is What is our Head of State doing or should be doing to put a stop to this governments criminal behaviour?

Absolutely Nothing Not a thing

That's the thing when a government goes rogue a monarch as Head of State can't intervene, let's them get on with ruining the country. Does as she is asked by PM.

I think Jo Maugham Lawer is collecting lists evidence of this government awarding contracts without tender and other wrong doing. So there are some good people who will stand up to this government.

biba70 Tue 20-Oct-20 09:38:08

ah how drôle of you two - I remember when I pposted about predictions re medicines shortages- I was told I was so insensitive as some grans here were poorly or had family who were, and it was so unfair to scare them re medicines and isotope shortages. So you two happy clappy funny ahahs - can you assure us all that this won't be the case?

Never mind the shortages of everything else, huge price rises in goods, services and utlities... and on and on - Ariston.

I thought for a split second that you had posted a positive to come out of brexit.

I should have known better?????

Whitewavemark2 Tue 20-Oct-20 09:31:29

So does anyone have any idea whether the talks have resumed?

Gove at the despatch box praised the constructive move by the EU, seemed to perform a u-turn after he had said the talks had ended.

I’m not sure now whether they have resumed or not.

Services are of course one of biggest contributors to the GDP.

Has anyone any idea how that is progressing vis a vis the EU?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 20-Oct-20 09:21:23

Ok .. so if the pro divorce lobby want to cheer up the thread then please do!
List 2 or 3 things that you know( & have evidence to back up) will make everday life better for most people come January once the ' oven ready' deal is served.. frozen, hot, cold or burned to a cinder!

They haven’t a clue. Never have had.

Urm, I think the goaders need firmly ignoring! As for Spain! Once was enough!!!

I’m feeling yuck today so maybe that’s why I don’t understand the “Spain once was enough” comment ? What do you mean ? Genuine question

NannyJan53 Tue 20-Oct-20 09:02:24

Sadly there is nothing positive that I can forsee. Boris may have said he had an 'oven ready deal', he never said he had an oven though!
