WWM2 Sadly, just read this morning that Trumps has "roared back" (the article's wording) in Florida and has narrowed the gap in three more swing states. My stomach is in a constant roil these days. I cannot wait for this election to be over and hope and pray that this awful president is consigned to the dust heap of history.

I think if Biden wins, which I hope will happen, it will probably weaken the USA/UK relationship as Biden will be shrewd enough to prioritise a good relationship with the much large population bloc in the 27 countries of the European Union, rather than with a shrinking little isolated country run by the only remaining tinpot populist in the Western world.

It looks like Trump is going to struggle, but don’t write him off yet, if Biden does win don’t expect any great change in their relationship with UK or EU.

There are several areas of disagreement with the US these will remain whoever wins

Oh I really really hope that Trump suffers a humiliating defeat and clears out of the White House taking his freeloading family with him. I don't think Biden is a particularily strong opponent though, and I do wonder why the Democrats couldn't field a stronger one. It is striking how ill educated a lot of the US electorate are on politics though; I know that we only see a selected vox pop, but when you see people genuinly afraid of a democratic win, whispering the word socialist as if it is satanism, and certain that if Trump loses then USA will end up like Venezuela, it is obvious that the old 'reds under the beds' fears of the McCarthy era are still there. There doesn't seem to be any comprehension that there is a middle ground.

The problem for predictions ( well one of them) is their electoral college system. HC won 3m more of the popular votes. Therefore the only polls worth following are those in the swing states - and as has been said, they might hide ‘shy Tumpers’

Fingers crossed you are right WWM2, I hardly dare hope it is the case. I have a friend in Minnesota, which is a Democratic state, and she is convinced he will win a second term. He still has a lot of supporters and she says some people will vote for him but not admit it when polled because they think Biden is too old and unsuitable. Much like the fact that many people over here voted Conservative because they didn’t want Corbyn to be PM.

Think Trump knows he is the less popular which is why he is apparently trying to get the scientists to release untested vaccines for the general public!!! Can't think of anything complimentary to say about that man!!

Remember the forecasts last time they were spectacularly wrong on a Clinton win. One can only hope they are correct.
