Interesting as well that in this report the LP is condemned for the party leader interfering in anti-semitism complaints, and placing someone from the LOTO to oversee the process. But I seem to remember a lot of publicity and the press demanding that Corbyn should take charge of the investigations. Seems you're damned if you do.....

Jeremy Corbyn said: “the public perception in an opinion poll last year was that a third of all Labour party members were somehow or other under suspicion of antisemitism. The reality is, it was 0.3 per cent of party members had a case against them.”

It’s not clear that Mr Corbyn can reliably claim to know what proportion of Labour members have been the subject of an antisemitism case – at least, not for the duration of his time as leader.

Labour told the EHRC that “it was not able to confirm the number of complaints made, or action taken on antisemitism complaints, until 2018 when it started to record this data”. The party has previously said that there was no “consistent or comprehensive system” in place for recording antisemitism cases before then, which means we can’t say what happened in the first two-and-a-half years of his tenure.

As I understand it, this is what he wouldn't retract and what he was suspended for.

How anyone could say that in the face of the way he has mis-quoted Corbyn I really don't understand.
Is it "forthright" to pay off wrongdoers when many think they could have been prosecuted or at least properly investigated?

IMO Corbyn has chosen this hill to die on. He knew exactly what Starmer was going to say and went right ahead and spoke against it. He then refused to retract that part of his statement. If the leadership had let it stand it would have significantly weakened what Starmer had just said.

I agree 100%. Starmer gave him every chance. He contacted Corbyn the night before and undoubtedly, knowing how Starmer works was entirely forthright in what he was going to say.

A closer look at the actual content of EHRC report suggests Corbyn has been done an injustice

Yesterday, another Labour leader, Keir Starmer, tried to copy the Kinnock and Blair masterstrokes.

And tried too hard.

He suspended former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, alongside whom he served as a senior member of his front bench team for several years, and in an especially sensitive post.

And for what?

I share the views expressed by Galaxy at 11.42 today. Corbyn has opposed every labour leader during his time as an Mp. He supported Militant when Kinnock was getting them out of the party.

I don't see how that culture could have prospered in the LP office without some MPs knowing about it Grany and I think Starmer is clever.
