and the world breathes a massive sigh of relief - wow <3

He's still President, and seems to be able to do what he likes.
Pre-arranging support in the Supreme Court, and he might even have the Senate in his favour.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Nov-20 18:36:52

Apparently they are expecting Trump to lash out further and sack others.

varian Mon 09-Nov-20 18:33:44

We are slowly, at long last, moving in the right direction.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Nov-20 18:25:00

Biden has begun to tackle Covid. Urging everyone to wear a mask. What a difference!

I see Trump is lashing out and sacked his Defence Secretary.

Grannynannywanny Mon 09-Nov-20 16:41:49

He has history. He previously referred to the then Irish PM Leo Varadkar as a “typical Indian” Yet, still he’s allowed to turn up at the House of Lords and claim his £300 a day attendance fee.

Why do some Americans worry so much about socialism and losing their freedom? We have a National health service and most people in the UK think it’s great and would hate to lose it. We certainly don’t think we’ve lost our freedom by not having to fork out vast sums for medical procedures or by having allowances for people who need them. We also consider ourselves a free country. In my view that freedom would be curtailed if I had to worry about people carrying guns around with them everywhere- I would be afraid to go out. Biden and Harris are not left wing- as someone said up thread they are something like our moderate Tories. They just aren’t hard right like Trump & his cronies. I find them far more frightening!

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Nov-20 16:25:20

This Sub-human sits in the House of Lords.

John Kilclooney tweeted

“What happens if Biden moves on and the Indian becomes President......”

This will be seen by America.

And we wonder why they think of us as they do?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Nov-20 16:00:57

Fox News is culpable imo. It is watched by Trump supporters and could do much to calm things as well as point out the lies and myths on social media, but it doesn’t. Murdoch sticky fingers once again.

lemongrove Mon 09-Nov-20 15:55:45

I sincerely hope that there will be no mass violence in the US
Over this, there is certainly a lot of anger by many who voted for Trump there ( much like Brexit here....a close outcome)
Of course DT could do much to counter that by putting out a message of calmness to them ( but am guessing he won’t).
If he stops tweeting it would be a good start.

Ah yes, Algerias I see...one post on page nine from an American poster. That’s it.

biba it was a suggestion to move on before it descends into the usual you know what.

Fennel there may have been some mistakes/ irregularities/ voter fraud ( be amazing if there wasn’t) and there were errors with the software that attributed 9,000 votes to Biden that were really for Trump in one State, but that was corrected.
Even with all the re-counts and check ups, it would be very surprising if the Biden win was overturned though, there are just too many votes to make that possible by the sounds of it.
It was close, but Biden won fair and square I am sure.

I attempted to......

The ‘obsession’ as you call it, for one post is simply that! One post out of how many? Yes, one post too much indeed but it
Hasn’t continued has it? There are no other posts after that that are lies/ fake news or whatever you wish to call it.
So all the push me/ pull you outrage going on now isn’t necessary. That’s why I suggested upthread ( pity that nobody paid any attention to that!) that it’s time this thread moves on.
Jeez.

Well go on then, move it on.

Daisend1 Mon 09-Nov-20 15:37:48

Shrub .
Counting chickens before they are hatched ????

There are none so blind

Alegrias2 Mon 09-Nov-20 15:23:33

Lemon, pay attention to what I'm saying in my posts. Nothing to do with not liking the UK. Drop that idea, that's not the fake news. Jeez.

However, its a lot to do with the daft idea that there were votes cast in the names of people who were over 100 years old and were actually dead. Incorrect, not true, fake. Just like the assertion that Harris hates the US and that there are grounds for Biden to go to prison.

And why this obsession with there only being one post? GNHQ asked us to stop posting fake news as if it was fact. They didn't suggest how many posts were like that. One is too many.

lemongrove Mon 09-Nov-20 15:12:03

Yes , do carry on calling out fake news.....because it’s fake news all by itself that this thread carries much of it!
One post by an American poster and another short post by somebody who says ( shock horror!) that her American friend says that Biden doesn’t like the UK.
How exactly is that rubbishing or undermining Biden? By a group of posters? There is no group of posters! If this wasn’t so daft it would be funny.
That’s why I said upthread....time to move on.It’s quite ok about the last word Alegrias I expected that to happen.

Alegrias2 Mon 09-Nov-20 14:48:43

Yes suziewoozie, I got myself tied in knots trying not to draw attention to the misleading posts, whilst highlighting the paranoia...

Go for it!

Nope, wrong. At least two. You have missed the others completely. Nothing to do with Biden being Irish or liking the UK. That's what's interesting, so many people can't identify what's fake news and what isn't.

So, as a sensible person, I will stop talking about it now. You carry on again though. Sorry I stole your last word.

I’m going to carry on calling out any fake news posts and ones that make ridiculous comments about Biden as well. This is a public forum and fake news or lies as we should call them should be challenged. What’s happening now of course is that there is a group of posters who accept that DT was defeated ( and who may or may not be secretly sorry about that) but who now want to rubbish and undermine Biden. There are also of course those who don’t accept DT’s defeat and let’s not forget the DT supporters who have gone missing completely. Maybe there’s a news black out in Spain ?

One post only!
The other post was simply saying what a friend had told her (that Biden didn’t like the UK)
Thanks for the last word though.?

Alegrias2 Mon 09-Nov-20 14:02:21

Good try at being dismissive Lemon, but not quite right. At least two posts, but maybe you don't understand what fake news really is. For instance, saying that it was a software error when it was actually clerical error.

Anyway, one post or 1,000, fake news is fake news.

Now you carry on, you have the last word, but you'll still not be right.

More emojis!
Yes WW you have been an a busy bunny on this subject, time to move on.
Where is that in this thread Algerias ??

who are you, really, to decide when it is time to move on?

WW is quite old enough to make her own decisions, I am quite sure.

Fennel Mon 09-Nov-20 12:37:15

Last night, not being able to sleep, I was gloomily thinking of the worst case scenario. Trump uses the supreme court to find enough reason for the results of the election to be anulled.
After all, the third justice of the supreme court was appointed by him, Amy Barrett..
Then a new election would be called and no postal votes allowed.
Or he drags it out to Jan. 1st, when I think it's left to his vice president to make the decision. Mike Pence. Something in their constitution.
I think it's too soon to rejoice, hopefully just my cynical mood.

Alegrias2 Mon 09-Nov-20 12:23:44

It would be a bit daft to draw attention to fake news posts Lemon, that would just give them more credence. But I was quite interested to read page 9 of this thread.
