Yes - this is going to answer the question I have had all year. Does Johnson actually want no deal? Because WW is right - no-one who actually wanted a deal would walk away due to fish (Debenhams employs more people than our fisheries) but at various times over the last year I have been convinced no deal was the plan. Soon to find out.

The deal is almost sorted and just 0.1% of the economy has to be agreed.

No one in their right mind would throw the economy to the dogs for just 0.1%.

The M20 has been ground to a halt for 4 days now and the lorry tail back is at least 20 miles long.

The EU has announced that it may continue with the Erasmus programme for U.K. students, as it is aware of the strength of feeling amongst the young that the U.K. should have remained in the EU.

The return will gradually build momentum.

Oh that is wonderful news. I hope that will happen as at one stage it was saying that it would continue providing there were reciprocal arrangements (which would be good anyway - but I wouldn't trust this govt to see the value in that!)

I am confident that a deal on the principles was struck mid week and the negotiations on the transaction of fisheries will be finalised this weekend.

So, if it’s all about fishing rights what happens to the EU fisheries that bought the fishing rights off English and Welsh fisherman? Will they not be allowed to use those rights and is that legal? Are we prepared to lose Toyota and Nissan over all this?

Really. The evidence as given out by the government seems to point in the opposite direction. However, we can only hope that you are correct Whitewavemark2.

That said, I feel that should they be given only half a chance the British Road Transport industry will overcome the predicted chaos through the Channel port which is the largest threat to all of us should there be no agreement.

The only question is, will they be given even that half a chance.

So. There’s going to be an announcement tonight. Feeling a bit sick. Must be great to be one of those people not worrying either way.

I agree David0205, this is close to insider dealing, especially for JRM and his Somerset fund, now based in Ireland of course. They can drip gloom and doom as Gove has just done, cause the pound to drop and then when a deal is signed watch as the pound soars. This is small potatoes to those of us looking at holiday spending power, but huge gains to those dealing with sums of money which would make our eyes bleed.

For those that noticed my post yesterday, Sterling was on a high the highest rate since 2018 some said, predicting £1.40 by Easter.
As I predicted it slumped, after down beat predictions by BJ and Gove, Sterling lost most of its gains, I’m not sure about Friday, if no good news will continue down.

This volatility is directly stage managed so that the speculators can make money, as near “insider trading” as you can get

No. People have been saying on Facebook that there is a deal but it was then denied. Given that there’s usually no (white) smoke without fire I’m hopeful that it is true.

I think you have confused things ww with the bill being passed by the Lords ( Internal Market Bill.)
There has been no announcement tonight about a future UK and EU trade deal.
