I can see no-one on here who is not horrified by what has happened and a little fearful, too, about what could happen.

But - America has faced crises in their democracy before now and the majority of decent Americans and will ensure that they weather this storm too.

Such a silly, narrow minded comment. Who's reality? Yours? Just because some people hold a different opinion, or see something from a different perspective doesn't mean that they're refusing to see reality. The vast majority of people, not just on this thread, but the public at large, are astonished, outraged and disgusted at the events in the USA, and with the Trump, yesterday. But please try to keep a sense of proportion in that, within those shared feelings of revulsion and condemnation, there is room for opinions and views that might differ to our own. That does not make them wrong. Or you right.

You don’t have to agree with the outcome of a vote and it is perfectly ok to protest against a policy you feel is wrong or corrupt in some way - that’s democratic. What’s not ok is violence, thuggery , vandalism. Some seem unable to see the difference, mainly some Trump, and Brexit supporters, and we all know there is a connection between the two, and before I get jumped on I said SOME supporters, not ALL. Pictures of Farage, Gove, Johnson cosying up to Trump tell the story.

If you try to make sense of what is happening and think about what is happening in USA, there have been a number of mob activities throughout the USA, not just in the capital, but yesterday a number of State Houses were breached. At the beginning of the year they tried to kidnap the Michigan Governor.
Many other instances.

Think of that together with the total lack of police protection yesterday.

It is almost as if all the instances are dress rehearsals for something too bad to think about. I am sure I’m wrong, but it doesn’t stop me feel very uncomfortable about what may be ahead.

But other people will have a different interpretation. I have no problem with what Biba posted whatsoever.

We are all so different- at this rate, one would never post anything at all. But yes, we are all responsible for our own interpretation and even, bias, fair or foe.

So no, I didn't expect posters to disclose their feelings about their own families and friends- YOU put that interpretation on it.

The glaringly obvious connection is the orchestrator, the puppeteer, the man who pushed forward this populist agenda in 2016, the man who must have enjoyed the spectacle in Washington DC more than anyone else - Vladimir Putin.

He may preside over a basket case economy in Russia, but his malicious influence over the USA and the UK has made him the most successful politician in the world.
