This is a headline from an American magazine last September. Considering the last president was publicly known for a popular tv program what do you rate her chances?

I quite like the fact that they said no I dont want to do this. I think lots of people would be a lot happier if they did that. One of the threads that I found really sad on this forum was a regrets thread, it was mostly people saying they wouldnt have got married, they would have travelled instead of doing what was expected of them. So I admire the fact that they said no.

Oh Suzie I know full well what it means - I choose my words quite carefully, including the word 'we'.

If all you have left is "Look, look, she swore" in a forum full of adults who thrive on innuendo you are seriously clutching at straws. ?

You perhaps haven’t been on here long enough to realise quite how much some posters object to swearing, frequently equating it with a lack of intelligence. And as G says, even when it’s in acronym form. As there was no response to the word you used all I could think was that posters didn’t understand it’s objectional meaning. There couldn’t be another explanation so I thought I’d help to prevent any possible future embarrassment.

Overblown comments are also allowed, suziewoozie!

You can't dictate how people word things.

If I've told people this once, I've told them a million times

It's not up to you. It's not up to me.

People will post.

If you don't like it you can report it. It's that easy.

It might not get deleted though. Comments you find awful may well be acceptable by those in charge.

Excellent post! ?agree with every word. GN hasn’t ( quite)

No Lucca but why not disagree and say why , why not praise them if you agree what they say and do

Can I ask when you were appointed as moderators? Do you get badges, like prefects?

Ah, back to school. I'd like to say the good old days, but they weren't.

These are discussion forums. We are discussing MM. Some are against, some are for and some don't know what all the fuss is about.

Galaxy Sun 21-Feb-21 21:41:21

I imagine suzie mentioned because she gets endless criticism for using the phrase FFS. Lots of people get very upset by those three letters.

Lucca Sun 21-Feb-21 21:41:05

By far the majority of posts/comments are anti Meghan and harry and always have been, those who find the endless criticism, sniping, prejudice against the pair hard to stomach are then accused of attacking posters ? Weird.
So if a thread is about Meghan and harry the only posts acceptable are those which criticise them ? Anyone who disagrees must keep, quiet ?

Oopsadaisy I hadn’t thought of that, surely so many posters don’t know every politician they speak of

Please stop suziewoozie

Alegrias if we only posted about people we ‘knew’ there would be very few threads.
If they are Newsworthy then we have every right to post about them and if some think that the Queen is upset, then they can post about it, who knows maybe they are correct?
She is human after all, her DH is in hospital and very frail, there is a lot of hoo ha about her family , are we to believe that she doesn’t care?
So we speak about it on here and we won’t be silenced by other posters, they too can have their say, without trying to shut others down. They have different views but they are equally valid.
I certainly haven’t seen anything disgusting or awful on here. Yet.

suziewoozie Sun 21-Feb-21 21:31:01

I know some posters get very upset about swearing on GN so I was a bit surprised at the lack of reaction to the word ‘twat’. It might be worth bearing in mind that it’s slang for a woman’a genitalia. I wouldn’t want anyone to unknowingly use it and then be embarrassed.

Anniebach Sun 21-Feb-21 20:54:26

Thank you NellG , I do think I may as well give up posting , but there are so few threads which interest me.

GagaJo Sun 21-Feb-21 20:49:56

No one is stopping anyone from saying what they want to. The ONLY thing that we shouldn't really reduce ourselves to is personal attacks.

Other than that, free for all.

Alegrias1 Sun 21-Feb-21 20:38:26

When opinions are posted about H&M, or anybody else for that matter, I for one wouldn't give a tinker's cuss what posters thought if they weren't so committed to basing the judgements on what they think it must be like for the Queen, and how the DoE must be feeling, and how that lovely boy was ruined by an American actress who doesn't fit fixed opinions of how a good royal should behave.

You are imagining what you think they must be feeling and instantly blaming the tabloids' nominated bad royals for all this exaggerated trouble. Thinking you know how terrible Charles, the Queen and maybe even the poor departed corgis are feeling for all I know. Well none of us know and to pretend we do is presumptuous.

I have a lot of respect for the queen although I'm not a monarchist. Seeing her portrayed as this poor, hard done by old woman is just unfair on her and to the people you think are disrespecting her. So I'll not move on, no matter how much you try to make us the bad guys, call us names or use crude language.

NellG Sun 21-Feb-21 20:34:02

You're right Anniebach, it's clearly a topic people want to talk about and they should be able to do so. Those who are bored of it can move on, those who disagree could try presenting a nuanced argument instead of showing up and verbally farting at everyone.

Anniebach Sun 21-Feb-21 20:27:08

Yes Smileless I just don’t understand why they do it and so
.obviously enjoy it

Smileless2012 Sun 21-Feb-21 20:11:48

Unkind, insulting and frustrating Annie. For some it seems you can say anything you like about H & M as long as it's supportive.

NellG Sun 21-Feb-21 20:10:55

We called house on that particular game of twat post bingo days ago Suzie. You need fresh bait.

Anniebach Sun 21-Feb-21 20:09:31

Smileless it’s the same on every thread about Megan but always opinion on posters never on Harry and Megan , ,amusement or to stop the thread perhaps, unfair because some wish to discuss . It’s so unkind

Smileless2012 Sun 21-Feb-21 19:48:35

Reference your post at 18.42 Annie I was wondering the same thing.

Instead of insulting posters who have a different point of view of H & M, why don't you give some examples of why you admire them suziewoozoe?

I don't dislike them, I don't know them but I disapprove of their conduct and their hypocrisy. Yet again with the Oprah interview they're courting publicity while simultaneously saying they want to be left alone.

Nezumi65 Sun 21-Feb-21 19:11:56

The words ‘if it’s true’ are doing a lot of work on this thread

suziewoozie Sun 21-Feb-21 19:07:55

GagaJo

Well, there is political and Political.

We could take this to the arguments thread ?
