Something joyful for William and Catherine to focus on.

I wont let the possibility, even a distinct possibility, that there'll be some posters who will seek to use a thread I start for their own agenda, prevent me from starting one suziewoozie.

As has been posted here, we're happy for a GN who shares the good news of a new baby in their family so why not for the sister of Catherine?

I certainly don't think that starting this thread was a daft thing to do despite it attracting some rather daft comments.

ATM there’s always a risk that any thread could turn into a MM bashing thread and I take your point that posters shouldn’t take that into account when starting one. However, when it happens, just be honest about the fact it did and who did it without trying to shift the blame to others who responded.

I noticed on a social media page it said ‘Pippa’s delightful tribute to the Queen as she names her daughter’, or words to that effect.

How silly, I should think they chose the names because they like them, and Elizabeth is a very popular second name.

Nothing to do with Her Maj I’m sure.

You fired the starting gun Lucca

Just catch the next bullet in your teeth and spit the thing out, then take a bow wink

No I think you’ll find it was Monica actually but never mind.

Not sad at all JaneJudge - people are fascinating. I do it all the time, I had no idea he was a teacher before Fanny mentioned it.

Strange how you read a thread that you wouldn't have posted on because you think it's daft susiewoozie and just because someone 'opens a gate' doesn't mean that others have to walk through does it.

I look at all threads when they’re started whether they sound daft or not ( apart from Games threads). The gate was opened, I’m surprised really you didn’t think it would be.

JaneJudge Tue 16-Mar-21 09:45:29

I searched him on wikipedia, how sad am I? grin I'm quite fond of him tbh, I moved away from the black country 2 decades ago (my family are all still there, more or less) but there is nothing like the acerbic black country sense of humor smile

How great that Joan was a real person smile

I thought it was just a piece of good news amongst all the cr*p at the moment. If any GN had posted that they or their AC or one of their friends, who we know even less about than PM, had just had a baby, could we have been happy without all the narky comments?

Yes - this happens on various threads where GNers announce the birth of dgc. And people are lovely about such news.

We could have a new favourite poetry thread - come on Fanny do your job.

NellG Tue 16-Mar-21 09:41:08

Jane Judge It's lovely isn't it? I'd forgotten it until Fanny mentioned it - one of those poems that's like a time machine. Apparently J Hunter -Dunn was a real person.

suziewoozy the birth of a child has always cheered us up, well it use to

Another snidey unnecessary comment about MM did not cheer me up. That was what changed the dynamics.

I had no idea he had been a teacher smile my cousin lived in Halesowen for a bit, I always associate it with makro blush

I love that poem, I had never heard of it

How did you know it was at Halesowen College, Jane?
Yes, it's a fabulous poem

Well I thought this was a nice thread to start which is why I started it suziewoozie, and still do despite some of the posts I've read.

Anything RF related is a potential risk.Monica’s post was unnecessary and as I said opened the gates. I looked at the thread before she posted and thought it was daft but wouldn’t have posted anything snide. . Once ‘let’s have another go at MM’ reared it’s ugly head, off it went.

Given how upset some people get over how we address her sister, shouldn't we be calling this person Pippa Matthews?

Congratulations to the family on the birth of a new baby girl :-)

NellG Tue 16-Mar-21 09:30:01

Fanny Oh god, Heart of Darkness...my A Level nemesis! I can imagine him being quite engaging as a teacher, and he seems a nice enough bloke. I bumped into him outside our local shop once, I think he and his wife/partner were on holiday, and we just smirked at each other in that 'oh blimey, it's you' way.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 16-Mar-21 09:29:28

There have been hints for a while that she was expecting another baby. The names are beautiful. Elizabeth is my daughter’s second name. But wow, Pippa’s two children have an uncle and a cousin who will be King one day. OTOH, another uncle and aunt and two more cousins, who they will probably have more fun with. Sorry, couldn’t resist!

Polarbear2 Tue 16-Mar-21 09:28:28
