More good news for the family.

How lovely of people to defend the honour of one of the people they want to see stripped of their privilege, their wealth and their property. Nice to see a bit of balance.

Well it certainly wouldn’t happen if the boot were on the other foot would it ????

My husband had that angioplasty, stent procedure at age 60, that is what I believe Prince Philip has just undergone. I know in the aftermath he told me he felt wiped out for a month or so, at PP's age he is bound to be feeling all that plus a lot more given he's only a few months off 100 now.

He is back home with his wife, at 99 years old I wish him well.

I am thrilled that he is out, but for anyone after four weeks in hospital, they will have become institutionalised, frail, scared of the outside and how they will cope, and that shows in his face. I do hope once back with his beloved wife he will be able to build up enough strength to enjoy his 100th birthday. Inevitably he can't have much longer, but I wish him a good recovery from this episode.

A 99 year old man leaves hospital to return to his family.
A young woman has a baby girl to the delight of her family.
Why can’t we just see human beings and wish them well. These are not politic
We are turning in to a snarky lot.

For those who claim to know his living arrangements and where he spends this that or the other time, you are either just guessing or, have insider knowledge and are breaking confidences.

The photos of him leaving the hospital are a disgrace - even a curmudgeonly old duke deserves some privacy.

Why didn’t they send a car with darkly tinted windows? Why myst they put him on display like that? It is undignified. He doesn’t look well and should be allowed his privacy. I wish the papers wouldn’t publish those photos.

I think it’s truly awful that the press are allowed to gather like this by the hospital to snatch photographs of his being discharged. And Fanny not appropriate at all.

FannyCornforth Tue 16-Mar-21 12:08:37

Jane I haven't seen the photos, but you are quite right

EllanVannin Tue 16-Mar-21 12:07:54

Poor old thing looks so ill. It's not nice showing pics like this. I felt the same when Princess Margaret was so ill in a wheelchair.
He hasn't aged as well as Captain Tom did bless him.
I can only hope PP reaches the 100 mark. I wish him well.

Not a bad age for either though.

I am not a RF fan but I think taking photos of an almost 100yo man who has just left hospital after surgery and lengthy stay is a pretty poor show. It says they put screens up to get him to the car privately, so why not respect that.

No Fanny, not offensive. Just inappropriate and distasteful.

NellG Tue 16-Mar-21 11:53:13

Good for him. I must admit, some of you possess impressive knowledge of the RF, I had no clue they lived separately in normal circumstances.

Anniebach Tue 16-Mar-21 11:51:21

Yes maddyone and at Sandringham he would have been near to his grandson and family . He did go to Balmoral when the Queen and family went there.

Buck house is a very large workplace.

FannyCornforth Tue 16-Mar-21 11:48:57

I don't think that my comment was offensive Alegrias
Thank you for that information Maddy

Did he not move to Sandringham when he retired , then moved to Windsor for lockdown

Yes Annie, you’re correct. Philip retired to a cottage on the Sandringham estate, where he had a very small number of staff to care for him. When lockdown was announced both Philip and the the Queen moved to an apartment in Windsor Castle.

Alegrias1 Tue 16-Mar-21 11:44:38

I came on this thread to say that this was good news, but within the first half an hour of this becoming public we've had posts saying he might be at death's door and then a discussion about his private life. Not, apparently, that he's allowed to have one.

I'm pleased he's out of hospital and I hope he's already back at Windsor with his wife.

maddyone Tue 16-Mar-21 11:43:00

The Queen and Prince Philip have been living together in an apartment in Windsor Castle, ever since the Covid pandemic began. They have been looked after by a reduced number of staff who live in. When they have time off and go home, they have to quarantine before they take up their duties again.

Good news. It’s been a worrying time for them. I hope he continues to get better.
