Have you read the thread, at all, Lemongrove? Especially the posts from Christians about the meaning of Easter?
Voting. I’m so glad we still have the ‘old fashioned’ system…

Since all political parties have put up Easter messages and images, nobody can object to a message from a Conservative Minister ( and if they do...then they don’t have a leg to stand on)?
I had an Easter email message from a friend, a retired clergyman, on Good Friday complete with a cross and a lamb,
Wishing me a happy and peaceful Easter. Nothing wrong with that at all. Some people just have to moan at anything Tory ministers do ( it’s what gets them up in the morning.)
Just a point of interest. The 'Last Supper' was a 'Cedar Night' - this night before the Passover celebrations by jewish people. Remembering and commemorating the final plague before the exodus from Slavery in Egypt. No leavened bread to be eaten. These days, the usual meat at that festive meal is Lamb - but not sure what it would have been two thousand years ago in the Middle East .
Catholic upbringing, Convent school educated, avid Twitter user. Saw it yesterday and thought it a horrible meme. As said in earlier posts, Good Friday is for reflection - confession and stations of the Cross, Easter Sunday is the celebration that He Is Risen.
Wishing Happy Easter on Good Friday is bad taste. Putting any political or commercial branding on an image of the Cross of Christ is in bad taste. To this person brought up in the Christian faith. I'm not about to bang on about it because maybe the originator needed to be educated on that, but it is - for me - icky. And I'd call myself a lapsed Catholic. But it's about education, I think. A bit of research would have made it clear that this would be distasteful.

To original poster and the printing of the Good Friday image and cross. I do not bother with twitter and would not have seen this although I am not offended by it. It does not say Happy Easter it just says Good Friday.
In my Christain faith I attended mass yesterday and Good Friday is the most solemn mass and the day Jesus succumbed to death at the hands of his executors. Our days of Lent came to an end and the vigil will continue this
evening until we celebrate mass once more tomorrow.
To those who have beliefs it is a wonderful celebration and
if you are an atheist then that is your choice we are all different.I understand all about the importance of Good Friday,. I know the image didn’t say Happy Easter - that’s the point . It doesn’t just say Good Friday - that might have been acceptable - it has the word Conservatives on it and the logo - the logo of a political party by the cross???
They've all done it.

this is not an official conservative party post and I suspect that whoever posted it has put themselves in DEEP do-do.
He’s a government minister - he knows what his master wants.
I don't know Suzie, I think he's gone off in an "unauthorised" direction here. His Photoshop skills leave a lot to be desired.
Have you seen some of the comments on his Twitter?
OK I’ll rephrase it - he’s not very bright but he thinks he knows what his master wants. He is after all on the payroll for something and it’s not his sparkling wit and intelligence is it?
well I think in this case he got it badly wrong, but as I said, might have been an employee with a grudge or no brains or both. Many Twitter account holders either don't run their own accounts or run them but have others who can post for them.
There is absolutely no question whatsoever that this tweet was made by the minister concerned. He has not disowned it and it is on his verified Twitter account - I know of what I post. Why do you feel the need to make excuses for him?

Dear oh dear, do we really have to bring politics into everything.
I trust that you are aiming that comment fair and square at the tory minister who published this image with the tory logo on it.

sorry, wrong quote added to previous post
It has happened before in circumstances where someone doesn't run their own twitter account all the time....an employee makes a genuine mistake or has a grudge.

*David Cameron was always dropping things about being a Christian into his speeches, unfortunately, a lot of my Christian friends loved it and felt it might bring more people into the church! His ‘invention’ of Big Society also relied heavily on churches and others doing what they’ve always done, and serving their communities through voluntary work.*
Is that what is meant by having a Christian ethos Kerenhappuch? And so he used it to explain.
I am not familiar with other teachings.

Firecracker what exactly is it that you don’t seem to understand between how the Good Friday cross was used compared with Happy Easter/Passover/ Eid/ Diwali etc?

Perhaps it's a futile attempt to attract the Christian voter.
I say futile because surely no-one who believes in the teachings of Christ could possibly have any time for this government?

I don’t understand what ‘branding’ Good Friday as Conservative is meant to do for the party - does anyone else?
This is why I find none of this offensive, but it is worrying.
As a non-believer I don't get offended by any reference to religions or religious holidays, certainly not on Gransnet. I expect Johnson will give a nice Easter message tomorrow, as no doubt will Sturgeon and Drakeford. I expect someone will mention Passover as well. Usually they are all very careful in how they word the messages to avoid alienating anyone. All good.
But when one member of one political party just publishes a tweet that says "Good Friday. Conservatives", and an image of the central symbol of that religion, then the underlying effect is that they are associating their brand with Christianity. There's no good wishes, no commentary. Just "Good Friday. Conservatives". When political parties start to associate themselves with religion we're on a slippery slope.
So, not offended, not "woke"
, just worried about how the Conservatives, and Zahawi in particular, think they are insinuating themselves into places they don't belong.
Surely not , can one assume this was after Starmer became leader ? ?
Thanks to GrannyGravy13, Jean Ainsworth and SW for sharing the images showing all political parties are happy to share their awareness of religious celebrations.
As a practising Christian I don’t find any of them offensive.
