I suppose Starmer's poll ratings could improve

Yes being on the left or being in the centre or being anywhere on a particular political spectrum doesnt make you a good person. As many of us have learnt to our cost this last couple of years.

Exactly - Owen Jones is not a good person. I think when he first came on the scene he was a breath of fresh air but once he picked up and ran with TWAW he became unbearable.

So are we now labelling everyone who thinks trans women are women as mysoginist or evil? Of course Owen Jones is a good guy. He picked up on what was happening to working class people way before Cummings or anyone else started manipulating them for their own purposes. He remains a firm suporter of left wing politics and if the only argument anyone can come up with for not believing TWAW is that it's mysoginistic it proves how unfounded their beliefs are. Believing people should be treated equally and fairly has always been good. It's demonising people for beliefs which promote equality whilst pretending to care about people that is evil.

Oh yes, Andy Burnham just elected as Mayor of Greater Manchester; quite happy to abandon it to be leader 'if he is called.'
Such loyalty, to Manchester and to Keir Starmer.

Are you seriously suggesting that there is anything wrong with this? That all politicians haven't given up roles to get the ones they are in?

It's like saying that if I have a job as, say, head of the cheese counter in Sainsco's, I should turn down the chance to manage the store.

Labour needs an issue or two expressed in popular language. Labour also needs to project an image of fiscal efficiency.

eazybee Sun 09-May-21 10:24:16

Yes, Boris had given them seven years.
Not offering to take on another job the day after he was elected, so nice for all the people who have worked tooth and nail, unpaid, to get him elected.

Anniebach Sun 09-May-21 10:15:10

Yes, but the far left didn’t want him as leader , suddenly Abbott
glowed when asked about him this morning.

Like Johnson abandoned London in his last year as Mayor?!

I think one of the reasons people don’t think that Labour are a viable opposition is Dianne Abbott. A great, groundbreaking politician in her day but I find her embarrassing these days.

But she’s not part of the leadership team is she?

Agree MayBee and with the far left gunning for Starmer we will have PM Boris for the next ten years.

Suddenly Andy Burnham is chocolate yet twice lost the leadership election

I am not in either of those cults, do I need a cult, where do I find one I like grin

MayBee70 Sun 09-May-21 10:02:43

We seem to be a country split politically (and probably socially) into two cults, the cult of Corbyn and the cult of Boris, who now says he’s going to be PM for the next 10 years.

Diane Abbott interviewed on Sky this morning, yawn. And are we to have independence for Scotland all day every day.

I think the answer to this is yes, until they achieve it.

EllanVannin Sun 09-May-21 09:47:54

As someone said, Andy Burnham would make a huge difference as leader of the Labour party. His passion for the people/ constituents is there for all to see. Bring it on. Get rid of Starmer, he's as much use as an ashtray on a motor-bike.

Anniebach Sun 09-May-21 09:45:09

Reshuffle for Labour later today

Sir Kier Starmer's plus point is that he isn't Jeremy Corbyn. If Starmer wants to make the Labour Party a viable option for voters then he has to address the issues that affect them directly and not get bogged down with the price of Boris's wallpaper.

Galaxy Sun 09-May-21 08:53:29

Yes I have rarely seen a man who treats women with such contempt. It has been one of the harshest lessons of my later life. I actually cant believe I was so naive.

I like him! I used to find him irritating but he's improved a lot and I find him interesting and personable. He makes some very good points.

He's a misogynist? Are we talking about the same person?

His million+ followers on Twitter can't all be there because they hate him.

I agree with you Grannygangan

Plus he is he on the left of politics I think, like me.

He blocks people who don’t agree with him that TWAW

I've not hear of him as a misogynistic either Grannygangan

Well Said Owen.

Owen has a twin sister that he loves.

Loving your twin sister has nothing to do with whether whether you’re a misogynist or not.
