Mr Johnson and Mr Cummings

Demonic has suggested that Mr Johnson has been not entirely honest about his communications with James Dyson.

I recognise many people believe Mr J was ‘doing his best for the country in a pandemic’ when he offered to sort the tax for Mr Dyson. But, do we want ethical government or not?

Mr Case is to answer questions about sleaze, mandarins and second jobs, aided and abetted by various government individuals.

Two well-placed government sources said that Mr Case would make clear that whatever discussions took place, the Prime Minister did not attempt to stop the inquiry.

“He will definitely say the PM did not interfere in the leak investigation,” one source said.

The other source said Mr Case will say there was no intervention from the Prime Minister, because “it’s true”.

^I see that Johnson is blocking any inquiry into the way the pandemic was handled.^

False news it seems WWmk2
Simon Case who used to work within the RF and was ‘poached’ by the government denied last night that this was true.

I wish it was, but I’m afraid bereaved families have been told that Johnson is too busy to allow am enquiry.

Mr Case will appear before the public administration and constitutional affairs committee this afternoon.

I have just been sent that headline via the week ww2, do you think he wouldn't say it?

I can’t imagine anyone saying it, unless they are in charge of delivering a Holocaust.

The the fact is that is exactly what happened.

How and why is a question Johnson is refusing to allow to take place.

Urmston proves my point about Johnson fans. Any criticism of our great leader is ignored or deflected onto some non current Labour politician.

Blair comes more to mind there.
?

Come on urmston. Blair isn’t the PM. We have had a succession of Conservative PMs. Cameron and Johnson are both mired in allegations of sleaze. Your comments suggest this doesn’t bother you one bit, yet a former Labour PM can be roped in as the bad guy.

I cannot believe that Johnson would have said this.

This is the sort of lying headlines that give our media such an appalling name.

Blair had his issues no doubt about that, but I have never read that he was corrupt on the scale of Johnson.

I expect Cummings will help “unblock”it?

Johnson doesn’t give a monkeys about what people think , he’s proved to be teflon coated so far, but let’s hope that’s wearing thin. Those Johnson fans who worship his ruffled mop and think “he is doing his best”, obviously do not wish, or are unable, to think critically about his performance, which in many areas has been dire, deceitful and even verging on the corrupt.

I can’t believe that no one knew about this super league till a few days ago. And still find it interesting that Johnson becomes the saviour of British football just before the local elections.

Doodledog Mon 26-Apr-21 00:20:59

It seems that there are now allegations that Johnson gave the nod to the football super league from which he has since tried to distance himself. It just goes on and on, doesn’t it?

From what I’ve seen of the pictures of the flat when the Camerons lived there it looked really tasteful and neutral.

Dinahmo Sun 25-Apr-21 23:58:10

This is nothing compared to the cost of refurbishing the Lord Chancellor's official residence in the House of Lords. Back on 1997 Lord Irvine of Lairg admitted that the costs amounted to around £650,00 which included £59,000 on new wallpaper made to the original design by AWN Pugin. Apparently this apartment is occasional open to the public which the PM's flat isn't.

Sorry didn’t make myself clear there growstuff, what I meant was that it will have to be changed again when she leaves Downing Street, at further expense, because few people could live with her choices.

Of course who paid for this refurb is more important.

Surely a neutral refurb that the next incumbent can live with as well is the sensible way to refurbish what is essentially a rented property - and David Cameron had that done not so many years ago at a cost of 68k.

I agree.

Just imagine if Corbyn had spent 200k on gold wallpaper......

He's never struck me as being a gold wallpaper kind of person.

If I moved into somewhere that was painted dark green I'd be straight off to B&Q.

Maybe the cost of painting everything magnolia should be deducted from the PM's last salary.

I actually think it's ironic that the flat is the issue making the headlines, when he's been responsibly for so much else.

Absolutely. I’ve been saying that to DH today. The number of times I’ve sausage that’s it, he’s done for and nothing happens. And then something like this looks as if it’s going to finish him off.

How does one manage to spend £200k on decorating a flat? I know it won't be three rooms and a kitchen, but I really can't imagine spending as much as that on wallpaper and carpets.

Casdon Sun 25-Apr-21 22:21:04

It’s not the only issue though PippaZ is it? If you live in a rented property it should at least be returned to a ‘bland’ standard decor, not cost the taxpayer (presumably) more to make it habitable for the next incumbent, as it’s not your own home?
