Mr Johnson and Mr Cummings

Demonic has suggested that Mr Johnson has been not entirely honest about his communications with James Dyson.

I recognise many people believe Mr J was ‘doing his best for the country in a pandemic’ when he offered to sort the tax for Mr Dyson. But, do we want ethical government or not?

I haven’t actually heard what he said at the climate summit. Did he really talk about bunny hugging?

Oh yes - I also think the phrase politically correct might have been use ?

Well I care that we’re stuck with him. Good job I don’t do patriotism otherwise I’d be ashamed of my country.

Johnson ain’t going anywhere . I’m surprised anyone thinks he might be - honestly I am.

Frankly I don’t care except that the U.K. deserves something better.

Look how embarrassing the climate summit was. I made me squirm. What other leaders thought heaven alone knows.

Gove would have made a far better PM than Johnson, but would have lost the last GE or have won by a far less majority and just isn’t popular enough ( with anybody).
He could still be someone to watch though!

Believe me, I’m watching him!!

Murdock supports Gove. He has a lot of influence, look how many times Johnson has met him. So I’m sure that his influence will be a factor, particularly when it come to the noddies in the shires.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 24-Apr-21 10:17:15

If there is to be a new leader of the Conservative Party Rishi Sunak could be in with a shot!

My money is on Murdoch and the nodding donkeys.

To do what?

Gove is not a shoe-in. He has to be elected leader. The noddies don't have a great deal of influence there, do they? It's the tory party members who vote for the new leader.

For Gove to become PM he would have to be elected as leader of the tory party. That this would be automatic is open to doubt. It might be one of the current Cabinet non-entities. I wonder if Priti Patel might be the chosen one. Her particular brand of nastiness seems to go down well with tories.

eazybee Sat 24-Apr-21 10:06:19

Yes, GrannyGravy!
It has been obvious for some time even in the Tory press that someone is briefing against Boris Johnson, using Carrie Symonds as a means of attack.
Gove has been dangerously quiet. My money is on Gove.

The most terrifying thing is that Mr.Gove has been extremely quiet...

My thoughts exactly! He probably has a spring in his step and a glint in his eye, he has played the long game since the leadership election, Machiavelli has nothing on him.

lemongrove Sat 24-Apr-21 10:01:04

Dominic Grieve is well named...permanently aggrieved because of his hatred for Brexit and constant whining.

^?Well, whitewave they have been in power for a very long time now, where is this downfall that you speak of?^

It's in Scotland, where we know a bunch of chancers when we see them. They haven't been in power here since the 1950s.

And don't tell me how well Baroness Davidson did - she didn't do as well as Thatcher did for the Tories in Scotland, that's hardly a ringing endorsement.

Sorry, can't help myself wink

I have no intention of speaking of Davidson or even Scotland,
Tories have never done well in Scotland in my lifetime, but they still share the same Westminster government as the rest of the UK... so, that being the case, they are in power.
Bunch of chancers or not.?

Whitewavemark2 Sat 24-Apr-21 09:57:45

There are some Tories who recognise this government for what it is

Sir Dominic Grieve, former Conservative Attorney General says “Boris Johnson is a vacuum of integrity” running “a cronyistic cabal” and “chaotic government” for “self-enrichment”.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 24-Apr-21 09:54:11

And of course the media support, for the nodding donkeys.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 24-Apr-21 09:52:49

Of course Tory supporters ( do they not recognise lack of moral fibre and integrity when it is hitting them in the face?) will try to downplay this latest scandal.

But the Major government was brought down by something far less serious - they had the expenses scandal, but this current lot have corruption, potential illegality and immoral integrity everywhere you look.

What is saving Johnson’s skin is the fact that he is riding on the backs of the scientists and NHS, who he will cheerfully stab in the back if he deems it necessary to save his skin.

There’s definitely more to come if BJ’s demeanor on the news yesterday is anything to go by, he was more uncomfortable than I’ve ever seen him.

I'm looking forward to this. Cummings will know where all the bodies are buried whilst the Whips only know about some of them. There must be some very worried Ministers and MPs at the moment grin

lemongrove Sat 24-Apr-21 09:43:47

? Much condemning of Dyson vacuums coming up.

Alegrias1 Sat 24-Apr-21 09:41:17

I don't find anything entertaining about it at all. I don't think the absence of serious government in this country is at all entertaining.

FWIW, I thought Johnson had been doing better since Cummings disappeared off the scene as he had probably been getting better advice. Maybe he should have chosen his advisers better from the start.

Still think he's a dangerous liability though.
