GB News will attempt to shake up the broadcasting landscape when the news network launches its TV channel in early June.

The news service, spearheaded by veteran broadcaster Andrew Neil, has announced plans to go live on Sunday June 13.

In a tweet, the channel said it would launch at 8pm with a special programme, 'Welcome to GB News'.

I can’t wait!

What are you objecting to now Kali ? Andrew Neil? Anything with GB in the title? ?

JessK Thu 27-May-21 10:07:38

Will definitely be worth tuning into. Hopefully it will be less biased than the BBC

I’ll certainly take a look at it, Andrew Neil is a formidable interviewer and always worth watching.

I like Andrew Neil as a presenter and interviewer - he was with the BBC for many years.

A formidable interviewer indeed - I'm looking forward to him finally having that one to one with Bozzer, you know the one that Johnson bottled out of before the General Election.

If Neil can get Johnson into the studio. Given Johnson's present form an interview with Neil is highly unlikely.

It is amazing how some people believe that the definition of "bias" is "not always agreeing with my opinion"

Have you ever seen Fox News? There are millions of Americans who supported Trump and thought Fox News was unbiased. Some of them now think Fox News is biased in favour of the left, liberal, socialist, communist because it "called" the presidential election for Biden when it was clear he had won.

Some of these Trump suppporters have now migrated to other tv stations even further to the extreme right and no doubt if you asked them they would say that their new station is "unbiased"

I am sure that GB News will do very well with people who think that the Telegraph, the Daily Mail and the Express are unbiased.

Riverwalk I enjoy any interview with Andrew Neil at the helm, including, if he does one, Boris Johnson.
Perhaps he will also do one with Dominic Cummings ( who used to be called Demonic Cummings on GN until he started a vengeful campaign for being sacked....now he is Saint Dom.)

Personally I like a wide variety of views. I watch BBC SKY RT and AlJazeera occasionally GMB. So I don't think the Telegraph Daily Mail or Express are unbiased but I have been known to read them and I might well add this new channel to my list.

Did you get him canonized, I hadn't heard that.

Any News channel that feels Piers Morgan would be an asset won't be my choice of viewing!

JanCl Fri 28-May-21 11:06:09

Given the funding and the line-up so far, not sure how its coverage could be considered balanced. Surely it's going to be the UK's Fox News. If only there were more left-wing billionaires who could finance some media, then we'd get more balance across the piece...

Davida1968 Fri 28-May-21 11:06:57

I get all the news I need from the radio or by reading newspapers (online & actual). The last thing I want is to watch TV news all day... Heaven help us all, if another "Fox news" type channel hits the TV airways.

Lucca Fri 28-May-21 11:11:49

“ until he started a vengeful campaign for being sacked....now he is Saint Dom.)”. Why on earth do you keep saying this?
It appears to me pretty much universal opinion on here that DC is deeply unsavoury but he may well have evidence that proves Boris Matt Gavin etc were both dishonest and incompetent.

helgawills Fri 28-May-21 11:12:31

Urrgh, Andrew Neil, can't stand the guy, happy watching Channel 4 news.

Urmstongran Fri 28-May-21 11:16:12

Nicely ‘Guardian left wing’ is Channel 4 news.
So there’s your balance against GB News!

I suspect that once most people are aware of it being on-air and the channel it's on - GB News will quickly become the most watched news in the UK, especially England.

In Scotland it will be with the sound turned low and in secret ...

henetha Fri 28-May-21 11:17:02

I'll definitely have a look, if it's on my Freesat.

Alegrias1 Fri 28-May-21 11:18:28

Nah, we'll be watching it with a glass of the uisge beatha and a well honed sense of the absurd.

lemongrove Fri 28-May-21 11:19:01

He may or may not have evidence Lucca which is why I reserve judgement on what is truth/ lies but there is certainly revenge on the menu by him, that’s what all this is about, wht he’s doing it.
It amuses me to say what I do ( Saint Dom) because all the posters who dislike/hate the government and used to call him all the names under the sun, now are hanging on his every word and nodding. Not you, I have to say but certainly a lot.

Neilspurgeon0 Fri 28-May-21 11:20:51

I think that, given the dreadful ‘trendy metropolitan’ slant of almost everything on the BBC, this new channel stands a very good chance of meeting many people’s real desire for what one might call, old fashioned, ‘honest to goodness’ news reporting.

I wish them success.

jaylucy Fri 28-May-21 11:21:00

Sorry, can't stand Andrew Neil - another one that has his own one sided view of things.
Never seen an interview that he has done, where he hasn't interrupted, talked over and belittled the person he is talking to.
It will be just another one-sided view on news items

Spec1alk Fri 28-May-21 11:21:29

I received a message form one of the team in Wales asking if they could interview people in my organisation to ask what they would like to see on this TV channel. Only a couple of people are interested!

lemongrove Fri 28-May-21 11:22:24

Back to the topic now?
The more choice we have regarding news and current affairs the better, think about countries like Russia, China etc .It’s wonderful to have the freedom to see different offerings.

frenchie Fri 28-May-21 11:42:36

Am sure the hard Right will love it!
