Did you watch his interview with Piers Morgan?
What did you think?

Kali2 Thu 03-Jun-21 15:49:42

Exactly, the hypocrisy is mind blowing.

Starmer is biding his time- he is letting Johnson plenty of rope, and he is slowly making good/bad use of it. When the right time comes, Starmer will pounce, from such a great height, and he will be fully and totally 100% prepared.

Watch this space.

Galaxy Thu 03-Jun-21 15:46:40

Are you joking. Johnson has spent his life plugging his image kn TV. Its been a PR strategy of years.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 03-Jun-21 15:30:13

Blimey, I have just skimmed this thread and it appears to me that only some are allowed an opinion ? The following is my opinion on the OP.

For what it’s worth I did watch the programme and found the whole thing rather needy not sure I agree with the leader of the main opposition party doing a so called warts and all interview with Piers Morgan (who’s opinions and allegiances change with the wind).

Whilst I do not agree with some of the allegations made against our PM I do think it’s correct to keep ones private life private and not go on prime time mainstream TV in order to garner support for KS and the Labour Party.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 03-Jun-21 15:25:41

This is exactly what is needed.

@JoeBiden
’s global minimum corporate tax rate of 21% could raise £14.7 billion for Britain every year.

More than enough to fix the NHS funding shortfall.

But Boris Johnson wants to water it down to 15% - letting big multinationals off £6.8 billion.

Let's back Biden's plan.

Oh stop being so supercilious PippaZ.

So why am I being supercilious in holding an opinion of those whose posts I have read when we all know there would be posters up in arms if I said they were stupid, ill-informed and ignorant for expressing an opinion on something they hadn't bothered to watch.

Isn't yours just a spiteful and childish attack on a fellow poster Urmstongran? It's that sort of thinking that makes me think that we have degenerated to a shameful level. Lies are okay. Immoral actions are okay. Stealing is okay. Being a reasonable, moral and balanced human being appears not to be.

It's the latest big word of the day. wink Some people can't argue, so they call people names.

Or invent incredible stuff about them to shut them up.

How come you’re all not discussing the programme yourselves now anyway?

Perhaps this thread just didn’t generate enough enthusiasm?

It's difficult to concentrate on the topic when so many factual errors (lies?) are made by some posters which others try to correct. But that's a bit like hitting one's head against a brick wall because the errors keep on being repeated.

I didn't watch the interview as O don't feel the need to learn any more about KS than I already knew as I voted for him in the leadership contest.

He looks rather tasty in the photo in today's Guardian, taken whilst at uni.

Hold the line EV it’s you and me against this lot on here!

Oh wouldn't it be delicious if YC was elected leader, then lost her seat at the General Election!

Think about it. Yvette Cooper? The Yvette Cooper who in the immediate aftermath of the EU referendum stated ‘the result must be honoured’. Is this the same Yvette Cooper who for the following 3 years did her utmost to block every attempt the government made to leave the EU?

I believe it is one and the same.

Jo Swinson suffered that fate, but the LDs are so insignificant nowadays, hardly anyone noticed.

Didn’t Johnson do everything possible to thwart any brexit deal that Teresa May tried to get through because it didn’t fit in with his desire for the leadership? And also walk away from the leadership election when he should have been spearheading the very brexit that he’d campaigned for?

MaizieD Wed 02-Jun-21 23:19:59

He is lack-lustre isn’t he,and unfortunately for him it appears he is forgettable to the electorate.

I suspect that he is not known to the electorate because the right wing press have struggled to find any dirt on him, so say very little about him.

They had a field day with Corbyn after he'd scared them witless by doing so well in the 2017 election. May would have struggled more than she did if she hadn't bribed the DUP to come over to her. Once that happened they let rip with smears and scare stories. His name was plastered all over the media all the time. That's why voters knew who he was.

Kier Starmer might be a decent enough chap but as we all know that it takes a great deal more than that to make an impression on the voting public.

He is lack-lustre isn’t he,and unfortunately for him it appears he is forgettable to the electorate.

In the run-up to the local elections recently I read a very interesting insight into the problems facing him. He was visiting a northern town and an aide accompanying him rushed over to a group of people in the town centre and excitedly asked them if they would like to meet Kier Starmer.

The response - “Who?”

Kali2 Wed 02-Jun-21 22:45:45

Lady Doesnotkneelalot is struggling indeed.

Ellan Wed 02-Jun-21 22:41:49

It certainly generated your enthusiasm to display your lack of knowledge and propensity to spread fake news

I changed my mind. It has been known.

Kali2 Wed 02-Jun-21 22:30:48

Urmstongran

Nope. Just thought it wouldn’t interest me enough to tune in.
I’m not sorry I didn’t bother.
?

So why on earth come here to discuss a topic which is very clear in the title?

BTW 'supercilious' !!! you said you were bowing out?

Urmstongran Wed 02-Jun-21 22:25:10

Oh stop being so supercilious PippaZ.

Galaxy Wed 02-Jun-21 22:23:43

The taser thing on Corrie was crazy though grin

PippaZ Wed 02-Jun-21 22:21:30

Sadly Galaxy, we live in an era where everyone believes they are entitled to an opinion even when they know nothing at all about the subject.

I'm off to go and talk crochet elsewhere. This forum ... ... ... probably best left unsaid.

Urmstongran Wed 02-Jun-21 22:17:59

Actually you’re missing the point. This programme was to showcase the human side of the LPL. It’s just that it’s pretty irrelevant as it seems the long knives are out for him.

Urmstongran Wed 02-Jun-21 22:16:34

Many people have done just that in the past.

Galaxy Wed 02-Jun-21 22:13:17

Does anyone fancy popping onto the corrie thread and saying oh I dont watch it.

Urmstongran Wed 02-Jun-21 22:05:22

Nope. Just thought it wouldn’t interest me enough to tune in.

PippaZ Wed 02-Jun-21 22:00:18

God, I feel so let down by what I have found my fellow citizens to be on this forum. Thanks to those who have tried to balance the fake news.

For those who are commenting without seeing the interview - which is what the OP is about, after all - I can't find a copy of the whole interview but this has a little of it and an article on the rest. I do wonder, if those who vow they cannot pay any attention to it as they wouldn't vote for him, are actually afraid to see a real human being instead of a cardboard cutout with no morals.

P.s. when I said ‘the Labour vultures’ I meant his own party members. Not anyone on here! I wasn’t being mean. Diane Abbott is proposing Yvette Cooper and Andy Burnham instead of Keir Starmer in the news today.
