Did you watch his interview with Piers Morgan?
What did you think?

Urmstongran Wed 02-Jun-21 21:43:38

Okay Ellan I apologise.
I’ll bow out now and leave you all to discuss Keir Starmer’s personality. I agree wholeheartedly he seems a decent, very nice man. Just not a leader. He doesn’t like to upset anybody you see.

And I still think he’s toast. But nicely buttered.

'The Labour vultures', 'this lot on here'
When I started this thread, I had hoped that we could have a discussion about Keir Starmer's interview with PM. His life story
Obviously, as leader of the Labour Party, his tenure has been dominated by Covid and I found it interesting to find out more about him as a person
Unfortunately, some of these comments are extremely childish, clearly divisive, rude and most importantly, untrue

Can I ask Urmstongran and EllanVannin if you watched the programme this post is referring to, or are you shooting from the hip?

See my very first post, only a few in. No I didn’t watch it. I didn’t want to know more ‘about the man’. How he likes rice pudding for his Sunday tea.

Onwards.... The basic problem Starmer has got is that he’s not a leader. The debacle of the reshuffle that never was after Hartlepool proves this.

The next issue is that the left of his party has clearly lost ‘the argument’ on several occasions now but are in denial.

They also have the luxury of having their own voters tell them so in no uncertain terms but still they don’t accept it preferring, in their arrogance, to believe that their voters are wrong - even stupid and racist.

Is there any hope for the current incumbents of the Opposition Benches?

It actually seems as if they feel comfortable there!

Are we now doing fantasy politics?

It would certainly appear so!

Apparently it's OK now to claim something which isn't true and, when challenged, to start calling people random names. And in this fantasy world, that's OK too ... so it seems.

No, EllanVannin, it is NOT up to the DPP to prosecute if there does not appear to be enough evidence. The police messed up, so if prosecutions had gone ahead, it is likely they would have failed and a considerable amount of public money would have been wasted.

What do you think about the amount of public money which the current Prime Minister has wasted?

I understand alright----enough to know that it wasn't up to the police, but Starmer as head of the DPP.

But,but,but.

IT IS NOT TRUE!

foxie48 Wed 02-Jun-21 21:23:10

OH and I watched it this afternoon. He came over a as a decent, intelligent man. It was interesting that he answered all the qs except for did he take drugs at Uni, clearly he did. Who cares? I certainly don't. Is he too nice for politics? Probably, but I could do with some decency and integrity but I suspect I may be in the minority. He does need a good PR team though and a much clearer, snappier version for what the labour party represents with him as leader. I thought his answers were a bit woolly.

Does anybody else remember the kids at school who couldn't do much else except call people names?

growstuff Wed 02-Jun-21 21:19:10

EllanVannin

growstuff I didn't say that Starmer was responsible for Worboys release---I said that Starmer didn't prosecute Worboys further for the sexual assault on those women.

You appear not to understand the role of the DPP. It was the police who failed in their duty.

Urmstongran Wed 02-Jun-21 21:06:17

Hold the line EV it’s you and me against this lot on here!

Oh wouldn't it be delicious if YC was elected leader, then lost her seat at the General Election!

Think about it. Yvette Cooper? The Yvette Cooper who in the immediate aftermath of the EU referendum stated ‘the result must be honoured’. Is this the same Yvette Cooper who for the following 3 years did her utmost to block every attempt the government made to leave the EU?

I believe it is one and the same.

Jo Swinson suffered that fate, but the LDs are so insignificant nowadays, hardly anyone noticed.

I am not sure predictions are your forte.

... or facts.

growstuff Wed 02-Jun-21 21:02:17

Goodness me! It's time to dance with the unicorns!

EllanVannin Wed 02-Jun-21 20:58:45

Urmston I wouldn't worry because Starmer isn't as popular as he's made out to be----hence why folk get aeriated.

Galaxy Wed 02-Jun-21 20:58:37

Urmstongran Wed 02-Jun-21 20:56:12

Well it seems the Labour vultures are circling the oh so lovely Starmer. He’s toast already.

Iam64 Wed 02-Jun-21 20:55:15

Another dispiriting non discussion, with snide, untrue comments about Starmer. Criticise his politics if you prefer Johnson’s politics but don’t repeat lies about Saville, Rochdale or Worboys. Starmer’ s record on the law is excellent.

Oh dear. No affairs, no abortions, never been sacked. How awful. He really must up his game mustn’t he....sad

Shouldn’t think he has had an abortion, legal in this country by the way, seeing as he is a man.

No but he arranged and paid for at least one. Wanted another but the woman refused to go ahead with an abortion. He scatters children like confetti.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 02-Jun-21 20:46:45

Nope - once again you have chosen to ignore what the posts were about.

The posts were about you posting false allegations which have been disproved time and again, but which for some apparent reason you are unable to absorb that information.

Yes EV you & I (in this echo chamber) have pretty much been told by WW we have no brains. Just because we have a different opinion. As HM the Queen recently said ‘some recollections may differ’.
?

Starmer is making a Royal mess of it, and the only folk putting heads above the parapet to be shot at are Cooper and Burnham. Cooper is past her sell by date, and Burnham has no practical clue just a big mouth.

No wonder the latest YouGov Poll gives the Tories an 18 point lead .....

EllanVannin Wed 02-Jun-21 20:42:00

It's those who have brains that don't do the reporting !!
Think about it ! Reporting is for wimps.

EllanVannin Wed 02-Jun-21 20:39:17

Good job I'm not a dab hand with the report button isn't it ??

Urmstongran Wed 02-Jun-21 20:35:06

Those of us who are old enough to remember the Goon Show, remember the comment: "Have you seen the next man?" That's why Sir Kneel-a-lot is struggling.
