I wasnt embarrassed, I didn't particularly have strong feelings either way.

And his taking the knee in his office was just cringeworthy. With Angela Rayner. Perhaps she instigated it. It might have appealed to about 10% of the country but I’m sure the majority of us were embarrassed by it.

Didn't watch because I can't stand Piers Morgan. So maybe I missed a treat. But Keir wouldn't have been my choice as Labour leader. And I'm not hugely interested in their politician's private lives.

Yes, I know - I just personally find it depressing that he has had to do this. 'People' care more about liking him than what he represents and stands for. I remember in the Hartlepool elections seeing a previous Labour voter (a vicar) saying she was going to vote Labour as she didn't know who Kier was or what his voice sounded like or what he stood for, which is why I think this would have motivated him to this interview. I am quite able to switch my tv on at midday on a Wednesday and watch my blood pressure rise and I can read but there are plenty of political programs on tv. I just wondered why people wouldn't know? Sorry I do realise this is a bit of a ramble

When he was director of public prosecutions he let down many by not prosecuting those responsible for the Rochdale grooming and also John Worboys for the further sexual assaults that were known about. He was an absolute failure in this position that was supposed to protect the public.
How he became leader of the Labour Party I'll never know.
He even helped Saville avoid prosecution when he served with the DPP.

In fact Starmer worked to rectify mistakes made by the DPP to try to ensure that it didn't happen again.

We watched it and I personally thought it was depressing that people want to vote for someone they like or is deemed popular as that appears the obvious motivation for the interview. He seems a nice enough bloke but I don't feel I need to know what he did at university apart from his qualifications.

I watched it too and found it very moving and a great insight into the man. I think we will see a Labour leader emerging, with valid Labour policies. I have heard him speak before at a fund raising dinner and voted for him as leader. Politics is not normal in this country at the moment but it is starting to open up again and Keir will be out there campaigning and inspiring us. I think a lot of the 'Red Wall' voters will recognise his childhood experience in their own, or their parents' life. His father's approach to life certainly resonated with me from fathers of my friends who never, or rarely, told them they loved them but did so by the way they provided for them. A 'get on and do' attitude, which I also saw with the single mums whose children I taught.

Well Starmer supported Corbyn. Who supported the Russians over Novichok. The IRA over British soldiers. In fact, just about any anti British movement going. Plus he didn’t recognise we had voted for Brexit and tried his best for a second referendum.

Yes he seems a good chap. But that’s not enough for me to be interested in him. There’s a lot of decent individuals about but I’m not interested in their personal life stories either.

Oh no I think he would be a good PM , it's just I think we are at a stage that doesnt value the strengths he has.

I saw Keir Starmer at the leadership hustings. He was the stand out candidate. As well as answering questions clearly, he came over as intelligent, emotionally as well as academically. His comments about his family were memorable.
I hope the Morgan interview is watched by a big audience

What a comment on our society, when people wonder if a man with high integrity, competence and the ability to make difficult decisions in the teeth of opposition is not considered right.

Instead we have someone who fails at every level, except the ability to waffle, play to the gallery and lean the way those with the loudest voice say.

I echo what Galaxy has said.
A decent man, but that doesn’t always translate to a good leader or good PM.
He needs time to prove that, and tbh he does have time.

I think he is a decent man. I dont know if that is enough in current times.

I like him. He came over as very caring, humble , and a devoted family man, stays true to his values, he had a hard time with his parents especially his Mother who had bad health for years.
I think he is very grounded and with his career as a barrister which makes him see both sides, Now he needs to prove himself as a worthy labour leader ,

Don’t usually watch this program but pleased I did as I found it very interesting.

Oh, and members of my family have met him and have also been very impressed. This has been in a business setting.
