Stonewall have gone from a group campaigning for lgbtq rights to the thought police. Look on MN, the reports there from people working for colleges, universities etc., who have been ostracised and forced to resign because of their refusal to accept nonsense like the OP reported. It is truly terrifying, and it is women who are suffering. It would appear that even declaring yourself a feminist is transphobic. Here's a question; if a person with a penis who self identifies as a woman then rapes a woman, could a smart defence lawyer get the rape charge reduced to sexual assault on the basis of the offender's self identification? ie a woman cannot physically rape a woman?

If they have a penis and they rape somebody ( male or female)
Then they are a man. Which means they should go to a prison for men.
There was a case of a trans man being put into a women’s prison and attacked at least one woman there sexually.
It’s gone beyond ridiculous now and is scary.
Stonewall was needed as an organisation in the past, now it’s turned its attention to this subject and is just wrong.
Women have enough to put up with!

I actually think it is worse than the impact on statistics and prisons. I think it is further abuse of traumatised women. Imagine being raped and then told your rapist is a female, when by the very nature of what you have experienced you know that is a lie.

I have written to our Police and Crime Commissioner and the leader of our County Council asking for details locally of men committing criminal activity and then identifying as women. Also how it it likely to skew the local crime rate. It was fairly recently so I haven't had a reply yet.

I think this is yet another case of Stonewall giving misinformation and organisations not taking the time to check the legality. Our local Police Authority and Council are high up in the Stonewall Champions League of 850 champions.

It also means that other statistics that are gathered to check equal sex-based opportunities, access to facilities, 'gender' pay gaps and so on will be skewed. The rights and considerations that women have fought for for so long will be swept aside.

Not wanting this to happen is not remotely incompatible with having sympathy with and support for those who wish to transition from one gender to another. It is not transphobic to worry about women's rights being thrown under a bus like this.

In case it isn't clear in my OP, if a rape has been attempted or committed by a transwoman (male) that person will be recorded as female.
It doesn't mean the offence didn't happen, or doesn't count.
It does mean that the criminal is recorded as female and may very well be placed in a prison for females.

Incredible. So someone can't have been raped as the person who raped them is recorded as a woman?

This is exactly the sort of thing that those of us who have been arguing against self-id on the numerous trans threads on here have been worried about. We have been called transphobic for expressing these worries, and it has been suggested that we are behind the times, bigoted and worse.

I fear for the world that our daughters and granddaughters will inherit if this is not stoped in its tracks. Men can go anywhere (eg safe houses and refuges for female victims of violence) and join female sports teams and shortlists simply by saying that they identify as female.

I find it very worrying indeed.
