Baby Wilfred at G7 - what do you think?

Boris and Carrie are adamant no one shows photos of the baby's face yet they have twice paraded him in front of the world's media, meaning his face has to be pixilated before the film can be shown. We know how much Boris loves a photo opportunity - he's rarely seen without a Hi Viz jacket or a white coat and please don't mention his early morning swim but I think it's wrong to use the baby as a photo prop. Plus if they are going to show him they could have put some shorts on him instead of taking him to the beach in a nappy and t-shirt (the baby not Boris).

Hey I'm not sad, don't insult me , its my opinion , this is
a political meeting , young mothers with their babies are
not necessary

Astu Sun 13-Jun-21 13:43:57

The whole partner thing seems very much 1950s good little wives. Totally outdated.
If they don’t want pictures of the children they should keep them away from the areas where the media are and not use them for publicity.

Yet more spite.

When this PM is shown to have lied and behaved dishonourably, and his supporters on GN can't refute the weight of evidence, they resort to nasty name calling - using words like "spite", "venom" and "bile".

I assume these are insults picked up from the right wing press as I have never heard them used by GNetters who criticise this government.

Well I'm not a Boris supporter, far from it, but actually I am sick of the spiteful comments too. Everything is picked over looking for something to dislike or complain about. I get it! Some GNetters don't like Boris, despise his politics and suspect his motives for everything he does, but do you have to make a career out of it? Please don't tell me to avoid your threads, unless of course you want to name them so that it's clear it's just another tirade of Boris hate.

Foxie48 I just posted on the other Wilfred thread, these threads are just an excuse for a bitching session. Boris haters just keep pouring out their venom (yes varian, venom is the correct word) and criticise every single thing Boris or Carrie do. Such nastiness. They must be very unhappy people.

I agree with this .

I thought the comments about Wilfreds nappyknicks were tongue in cheek?! Obviously not! he was on the beach FGS! Lets face it, the Johnston's would be damned if they did bring Wilfred and damned if they'd left Wilfred at home. At least not seeing his face saves the little boy and his parents from the inevitable horrible comments on here and elsewhere. I thought the pictures of him were charming particularly with his Mum and Mrs Biden, but you can always find a sour puss to find fault and cluck with disapproval. He did wear shorts to the BBQ, so presumably he was considered to be decently dressed for that occasion.

Polarbear2 Sun 13-Jun-21 14:33:29

Venom? Spite? It’s all utterly deserved unfortunately. He is dragging our country into a ditch to suit his own ends, and whatever colours you pin to your mast in your hearts you must know he deserves everything he gets.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 13-Jun-21 14:33:47

A child should NEVER be subjected to this kind of scrutiny. It is outrageous.

Warele Sun 13-Jun-21 14:41:58

I still don’t understand why spouses of politicians attend such events, let alone children.

Oldbat1 Sun 13-Jun-21 14:42:08

How can we take this G7 conference seriously if all the respective spouses are in attendance? Why oh why parade any baby in front of the world press is beyond me. It isn’t a social club.

Jaxjacky Sun 13-Jun-21 14:43:37

Don’t see the issue myself, makes a change from dogs.

FarNorth Sun 13-Jun-21 15:24:09

Surely there are meetings for the leaders only, and also downtime for socialising.

Outrageous yes - yet here we are - with grumpy grans examining him from head to toe for faults just because of who his father is.

JaneJudge Sun 13-Jun-21 15:45:12

Well I must be a cynical old bugger as I think it was an extension of his comments in PMQs this week

They are 'hard working parents' they manage to 'work' and 'parent' just like we should have all been working 'working' and 'home schooling' throughout the pandemic

get on with it plebs look how well the BJ's #take3 are doing #IfAllElseFailsPayForATutor

Parsley3 Sun 13-Jun-21 15:51:57

Dear God. Do we really need to use a baby as an ice breaker ? What have we come to as a nation?

JaneJudge Sun 13-Jun-21 15:52:57

btw working 'working' is like going out 'out'

If you disagree with his politics then stick to posting about that. Why does this require endless personal bitching about him, Carrie and Wilfred which has nothing to do with the politics. He deserves everything he gets - what exactly does that mean? What nastiness.

Alegrias1 Sun 13-Jun-21 15:59:43

OK, sorry but I'm repeating myself.

We ask, is it right to use your child as a publicity tool? Don't we think that Johnson is behaving just as he always does?

Venom! Spite! Vitriol!

Like I said elsewhere, it's almost like its manufactured offence, you know, that thing all us snowflakes get accused of?

MawBe Sun 13-Jun-21 16:11:50

Two women meeting for the first time- one a young mum with her first baby - yes an “ice breaker”, a point of contact, what you will - IMO that has s*d all to do with “What have we come to as a nation”
They are not the politicians or world leaders , I did not suggest for one moment that Boris and Joe would be in need of Dad-chat, so what do you mean?
What have we come to as a nation when two women can not enjoy a walk on the beach with a toddler? Photo op or not (and when you are in the public eye there is no “not”)

GrannyGravy13 Sun 13-Jun-21 16:15:49

MawBe if it had been any other politicians baby I guess it would be acceptable.

MawBe Sun 13-Jun-21 16:17:00

???

Doodledog Sun 13-Jun-21 16:17:59

Outrageous yes - yet here we are - with grumpy grans examining him from head to toe for faults just because of who his father is.
I don't think that has happened, has it?

People have commented about his being used as a prop, and about his being photographed in a nappy (I don't have issues with that myself), but nobody has 'examined him from head to toe for faults', have they?

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 13-Jun-21 16:22:13

Johnson and his government are appalling. I can’t believe those who voted for him actually believed anything that came out of his mouth. Why aren’t the press calling him out on his lies? Why isn’t the Speaker doing likewise. At least the US got rid of their lying overweight buffoon - trump, although there is always the danger of him coming back like some resuscitated corpse.

Smileless2012 Sun 13-Jun-21 16:23:54

"We ask, is it right to use your child as a publicity tool?" it seems to me it depends on who is using their child. I recall some of the posters condemning Boris and Carrie doing exactly the opposite same when the name of H & M's daughter was announced.

As for addressing the OP, I agree with Jaxjacky.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 13-Jun-21 16:27:34

As for the little boy only having on a nappy and t-shirt, at that age my brood were always naked on the beach, round the pool and in the back garden.
