So wish others would come off that sinking ship.

Would love Dominic Grieve to join Lib Dems.

Starmer and Bercow will make a very strong team
That’s if there’s a leader called Starmer to join up with.
It’s not looking good.

How will Bercow and Starmer be a strong team kali? How will they be a team at all?
He isn’t an MP, much less in the Shadow Cabinet, he has just joined the LP not the PLP.

Yes- I do believe Starmer and Bercow will make a very strong team. Excited too.

Probably the reason Cons are so angry about this, is because they know it to be the case. Just at the right time, many in the Cons are realising the Emperor has no clothes and is a disaster for the country. And that his team are mostly catastrophic too.

As predicted elsewhere, I do think that when it begins to happen, it will happen very fast. VERY.

I think Bercow is everything Johnson wants to be. Eloquent and funny: quick thinking. Unlike Johnson he seems to have a good grasp of the law in a way that doesn’t involve just trying to override it whenever possible and seems to be a man of principle. Politics is lacking a politician that is a great orator. Much as I admire and support Keir that’s something he isn’t. I have great hopes that Bercow will use his eloquence to make the electorate realise what a bunch of lying charlatans we have governing us. I’m quite excited about it.

Good post

No barrel scraping from me, I just thought it was rather funny.

Same here. I type very fast and don't check- and I make typos and other errors all the time. This one did make me giggle.

I would have termed him The Greatest Showman
(2nd only to Hugh Jackman, of course)

the Bercow style when his wife posed wrapped in a sheet in the House of Commons

Is this the Johnson style then? Mind you they weren't married. Does that make it better or worse?

icanhandthemback Tue 22-Jun-21 11:46:46

A lot of people vote Conservative because they don't see a credible alternative. I used to vote for the SDLP because I liked what they stood for but I don't see the same with the LibDems. Give me a credible alternative and I'll camp overnight to put my x on the paper!

Kali2 Tue 22-Jun-21 11:46:36

All round? No, not at all. He was disliked by those he held up to account in the House. Oh for someone to do this now! Because that is the JOB of the Speaker.

Seriously? You’ve surpassed yourself.

I know you don't like my posts tickingbird, I'm trying to live with the shame.

However a poster said Bercow only used big words to hide the fact he was working class. He's been called a POS, a pig and an idiot.

QED.

Rosina Tue 22-Jun-21 11:31:14

Self important individual who is out to promote himself - today's paper tells us he wanted Corbyn to recommend him for a peerage. I truly think he was the worst Speaker in history - so biased. I think we all got a taste of the Bercow style when his wife posed wrapped in a sheet in the House of Commons, and opinion has it that he was throughly disliked all round.

If being a decent, principled man like Kenneth Clarke

Ha ha - try asking the victims and bereaved parents of the contaminated blood scandal what THEY think of Ken Clarke. Decent and principled and Kenneth Clarke in the same sentence? You need to expand your information source. Try following the current public, judge led inquiry into this. John Major too - disgraceful. Mrs Thatcher was advised against granting compensation by John Major - horrible man.

Brilliant typo PippaZ grin

I now have to somehow remove the image of Mr.Berco thrusting from my brain shock

Love the typo PippaZ- made me laugh smile lol

Mamardoit

When they open their mouths to speak or when they post on GN or anywhere else. Certainly when they are interviewed on TV.

How do you make your judgements about people?

I judge by what they say, and what they do (both now and historically) their level of expertise or knowledge (doesn't that include education?), the evidence they use to justify their words/actions.

Not an exhaustive list.

While 'appearance' shouldn't always matter, there are times when clothing and demeanour are purposefully used to make a statement or convey a desired image

Mamardoit Tue 22-Jun-21 09:48:20

Yes.....This too.

PippaZ Tue 22-Jun-21 09:47:00

MaizieD: So what criteria can we use to judge anyone?

By what we know of what they have done. By what they say they intend to do and by the degree to which I thrust them.

I'm not sure the 'little' necessarily relates to his height. Little could mean unimportant maybe. Unimportant in a posters opinion of course.

I don't think it's right to use height, hair colour, accent, even education level to judge anyone.

So what criteria can we use to judge anyone?

Their actions

Mamardoit Tue 22-Jun-21 09:41:56

By that I mean what they say not accent.
