So Michael Gove is getting divorced now. Surely he hasn’t been having an affair?

Interestingly, if there was any truth in the gay theory, what does that say about GN members who are horrified at the mere thought? Would they be so repelled if it was a Labour shadow minister? Does homophobia raise it’s ugly head only for Conservative MP’s and Ministers?
Have a think about it.wink

It’s like the fall of Rome isn’t it except we’ve got how many more years of this government?

Calm yourself Maybee... it’s a government minister getting a divorce ....the fall of Rome!?

After the disclosure of the affair between John Major and Edwina Curry, any news of seedy extra marital affairs involving politicians no longer shocks me.
Well, until, that was, before I heard about Gove! Yeuch!!

Dianne Abbott is suggesting that he is getting it on with his male SPAD

Would this be the same Dianne Abbott who talked of recruiting 10 extra policemen, or a 100 or a 1,000,000 by any chance?

Steady. I love MN but sometimes they do overreach with their theories.

?
It could just be what the Goves have said...an amicable divorce
( I realise that wouldn’t be as much fun as what MN are saying)

Thinking about it, it's a bit weird that the two articles about the alleged Gove-Cummings relationship were both denials and in the Mail (for whom Mrs Gove aka Sara Vine) and by Mrs Cummings (aka Mary Wakefield). Why wasn't there an article somewhere claiming it was true? As far as I can tell, there wasn't. Oh what a tangled web we weave ...

You said it would make a good plotline, growstuff but I lost track of the plot a while ago.

As an aside. Did anyone hear Johnson pointing out the ridiculousness of the Brexit he created as he stood next to Merkel?

My god what an embarrassment.

Is that before or after he made that silly sausage joke?

muffinthemoo Fri 02-Jul-21 22:33:29

Please God, let there not be a video.

SueDonim Fri 02-Jul-21 21:56:34

Is it really only a week since Hancock resigned? It must true what they say - a week is a long time in politics, because that seems ages ago. ?

Michael Gove - good grief - what next!

What a potty mouth she has.

muffinthemoo Fri 02-Jul-21 21:37:52

I hope people choose to be kinder about her kids than she did about Jack Monroe’s little lad, who she claimed was the reason both he and his mum struggled with food poverty for a long time. It was a singularly wicked thing for one mother to write about another’s little child.

SueDonim Fri 02-Jul-21 21:34:48

Their conduct, Anniebach. I don’t give two hoots about their preferences. Though as WWM says, they’re all pretty nauseating.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 02-Jul-21 21:29:46

They all make me feel nauseous. None of them seem to have any taste at all ??. Still they are all as revolting as each other so it’s a case of like attracting like I suppose.

Dickens Fri 02-Jul-21 21:29:44

She (Vine) wrote a piece for the Independent criticising Jack Monroe (food blogger and campaigner) for having children whilst being unsure of her sexuality.
She also has plenty to say about Harry and Meghan - I presume most of it is conjecture, unless she really knows them that well.
... but wants privacy now the announcement of her divorce is official.

In other words, she can dig deep into other people's lives - and write copiously about them, but doesn't think it right that she might now come under the same scrutiny.

She makes money by writing scathing articles about people. What goes around, comes around.

I'm happy to give her the privacy she wants and avoid the speculation she probably doesn't want. If only she would give other people's intimate relationships the same privilege.

Anniebach Fri 02-Jul-21 21:29:05

Why do you feel nauseous SueDonim because it was a homosexual affair or because both men are not in anyway
good lookers ?

SueDonim Fri 02-Jul-21 21:19:48

Liam Fox did come to mind, WWM2. I remember that now.

I feel rather nauseous about the thought of Gove + Cummings. ?. Still, it would save spoiling another couple.

I have no idea if it's true and, frankly, I don't care, but Gove was rumoured to be having an affair with Dominic Cummings in 2016. You can Google an article in the Mail and Mary Wakefield's article about it in the Spectator. The only interesting thing about the smear was that the person who "leaked" it was Gavin Williamson, who was David Cameron's Chief Whip at the time. It's been hinted more than once that the reason the hapless Williamson hangs on to his job is that he knows secrets which some people wouldn't like to be revealed. It would certainly make a good plotline somewhere (not sure about "Corrie").

Remember the picture Williamson put out of himself sitting at his desk with the whip and that book on it? I always assumed it was stuff he had on Johnson but maybe he’s got stuff on all of them….

I think journalists should give them as much privacy as she gave Harry and his wife. That seems fair.

... hear, hear!

Whitewavemark2 Fri 02-Jul-21 20:48:57

Was there ever such a government?

Casdon Fri 02-Jul-21 20:47:53

It’s certainly been an interesting day in British politics today hasn’t it!
