English people want to bring back mask wearing and social distancing

I m not silly Last week I woke up feeling a bit under the weather one day, the first thing I did was take a test thankfully I was clear and the next day I felt fine Dont judge me as stupid because I said I m not sure masks are the be all people think they are, especially out in the fresh air
I ve followed all the rules
As I said in my other post I still have to wear one on the shop floor but not in the back rooms when at work and I still wear one on public transport so I m not a rebel

I have one friend who has never bought or used a mask and refuses to be vaccinated, I think that is pig headed and selfish

Everyone wears them here and we are not allowed to travel more than 5 kms from home. We have to wear them outside and inside and we are not allowed any visitors at all. Stalag 2021.

Young people ignore mask wearing spreading the virus to other young ones who have refused the vaccination, they now are filling the NHS beds. On the TV news Thursday evening we were shown a young unvaccinated man wearing a different kind of mask.

On my travels today, most people were masked and on the train, the announcements requested masks be worn.
It’s a request, not mandatory and mainly young people ignored it.

I don't see what political party choices have to do with it. Sensible people have been vaccinated and wear masks in crowded indoor places. I know there are some who say they cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons, but there are others who won't be vaccinated without good reason, probably people of all political views.

I shall certainly continue to be careful.

We all like the fresh air. But we don't like to risk infecting others with Covid, surely? Isn't maskwearing worth the tiny sacrifice?

If I have a cold or cough in winter I ll wear a mask so I don’t pass it on, otherwise I m done with them ……..like LtEve I don’t think they are the be all and end all I will wear them on pubic transport and when needed at work otherwise I like the fresh air

If you get a cough or a cold in winter (or any other time of year while covid is still an issue), I very much hope you will have a test to check that your self-diagnosis is correct. Otherwise, mask or no mask, you could easily be unwittingly spreading covid by being out and about at all!

Nothing has changed for us. We wear masks inside public places, including shops. We use sanitiser when unable to wash our hands. We keep our distance from people out of consideration for their safety. Until cases are reliably lowering we will continue to do so and expect the same consideration from others.

I am in a high covid area.

And no, they have not made it compulsory on public transport but some have said it's a condition of carriage

I have continued to wear a mask in shops, and if I used public transport, I would definitely use one then. I’m obliged to wear a mask in order to visit my elderly mother in her care home, although I’m allowed to take it off in her room. She wants me to take it off, doesn’t like me keeping it on. I always sanitise as I enter a building, with their sanitiser or my own. I sanitise again as I leave. I socially distance as far as I am able to, including yesterday asking someone behind me in a queue to move back a little, with a very polite response and a quick adjustment. Other than that, I get on with my normal life. Had a week in Somerset last month and intending to go on holiday to Zakinthos, all being well, late September.

I take a mask with me and wear it if others are doing so or I am asked; I sanitise my hands, don't go abroad and avoid nightclubs (!).
I am not surprised to see that 17% wish to keep people in their homes, (I know some of them) although these same people are perfectly happy for manufacturers, shop workers and drivers, and even their husbands, to prepare and deliver their essential supplies to their safe homes.

Perhaps it depends where you are and what the daily case rates are for your area. If they are high then you will be more inclined to wear a face masks and practise social distancing. Here in the SW some businesses insist on it, especially around Bristol.

Social distancing was a joke. On my fb today a man I know/ not well was in hospital with covid. He said most on his ward had been jabbed twice. He said he was lucky to survive.

Exactly the same here. Not even the staff are wearing the. In large supermarkets.
I’m not bothered as I stopped wearing one before July 19th.
I expected the library to say something, but they didn’t. Nobody is mentioning them.

I don't know where you live if you are seeing lots of masks out and about. I had to go to the post office this week and it's attached to a large supermarket. As I was waiting I watched people in the store, coming and going. I would guess maybe 10% (at most) had a mask on, no staff that I could see, and almost nobody used the hand sanitizer.

I bought a newspaper and had people shoving up so close I actually had to move back or would have been elbowed over.

Too many people totally unconcerned and virtually bumping into people as they zig-zagged their way round the store.

Social distancing is far more effective and tends to be what people do naturally. I caught covid whilst wearing a proper surgical mask but not socially distanced.
I have no objection if people want to wear masks and I do myself in crowded indoor spaces and wear one all the time at work but I don’t want to be wearing one for the rest of my life everywhere I go inside. Covid is not going to go away so we have to learn to live with it. There hasn’t been the expected surge in cases since the restrictions were lifted and I believe it was the right time to do it.

I haven't been far, but most people I have seen are wearing masks and keeping their distance. I imagine that crunch time will come in September when schools get back and we meet up indoors. Oh, there's also the variants which could bring back legal restrictions. Hey ho.
