This may be a pot shot too far, now they seem to be including the Queen in their self- righteous whingeing.
(Not that I am biased)
Apparently Duke and Duchess of Sussex believe the Queen failed to take “full ownership” of the race allegations made in their interview with Oprah Winfrey, according to the authors of the unauthorised biography Finding Freedom.
A “friend of the couple” (unnamed, of course) has apparently told Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand that the Queen’s lack of action had prevented the Duke and Duchess from moving on from the claims.
The source also suggested that the Queen’s assertion that “recollections may vary” had not gone down well.
(It did however rank IMHO as one of HM’s all-time greatest bons mots )
The Queen has until now been one of the only senior members of the Royal family to escape the Sussexes’ criticism, but this new epilogue to Finding Freedom, published in People magazine in the US, suggests that the Duke and Duchess feel frustrated that the Duke’s grandmother did not follow through with her promise to address their concerns.
It says: “The Queen’s ‘recollections may vary’ comment ‘did not go unnoticed’ by the couple, who a close source said were ‘not surprised’ that full ownership was not taken
Just one question, if this book is “unauthorised”, does it or does it not reflect their views? Or is it an example of letting somebody else put words in their mouths so that they can deny them afterwards if necessary? All these “unnamed friends,” and “close sources” - aye, right.

Well world events are not worrying Harry too much either. Yesterday he apparently used a friend’s private plane to fly to and from a polo match which was a two hour flight away.
Shall we discuss climate change maybe?
Takes after his dad.

"Light relief" for me. I tend to discuss more serious world events with Mr. S. and family and friends rather than here on GN.
I don't agree that the interest shown in this thread is "sad", we're free to discuss what we choose and shouldn't be judged for choosing lighter topics.

Afghanistan is collapsing.
Haiti has had their president assassinated, they suffered an earthquake and a tropical storm.
We are trying to get over the worst pandemic in 100 years.
Climate change is accelerating and we won't act to stop it.
We are governed by possibly the worst government in our living memory.
But the fastest growing thread in "News and Politics" is whether an entitled pair have upset their entitled granny. Light relief I suppose.
Alegreas So very true and sad. Does seem as if people are trying desperately, to avoid such issues as they are all so extremely disturbing - and find solace in discussing some other family's problems.
I am puzzled by ‘one of services provided for RF & Prince Andrew’
When was Andrew adopted ?

Farrer & Co considers itself a "full-service" firm for the British elite and "HNW" (high net worth) crowd, offering financial, legal, public relations and other services. One of those services provided for RF & Prince Andrew this week was this: Lawyers acting for the queen wrote to major British newspapers warning them against taking or publishing pictures of the royals at Balmoral the same day that Andrew arrived there.

Interestingly, Farrer & Co's Julian Pike is listed on a trust with Prince Andrew, Duke of York As a journalist, I would like to ask, how many others at Farrer & Co have financial ties to the

even as Farrer & Co does PR for the Queen and her kids?
I don’t get the relevance of this , but don’t bother to explain it to me, I’d rather stay blissfully ignorant
Yes, completely different Annie in this case it’s the family’s choice.
The photograph was taken by her mother to support the
Big Butterfly Count for Butterfly Conservation .
Big difference to a newspaper photographer snooping in a private garden
Nope, nothing at all. Picture of (part of) their family in the garden which was published in newspapers.
Beautiful photo of Charlotte taken and released by her Mum. Nothing wrong with that.
Who would want photographs of their family in their garden
published in newspapers.
When we first moved here my then neighbour widow of a well known celebrity used Farrers to demand we pay for the shared driveway. They were most certainly not easy to deal with. I would imagine they are handling PA’s case.

Grany Farrer & Co are actually a high quality law firm, not PR, which makes them all the more difficult to deal with.
Is this the same company sorting the Prince Andrew mess?

The Queen's PR firm, Farrer & Co, do not like journalists asking about possible money-laundering on one of the Queen's tax shelters.
In addition, Jersey hosts a branch of Coutts Crown Dependencies, the global offshore wealth manager that is private banker to the queen. Prominently, the queen herself was exposed by the Paradise Papers, as the leaked records showed her partaking of her far-flung offshore empire as Duchy of Lancaster. The monarch’s representatives were forced to admit for the first time in 2017 that she not only was investing in offshore financial vehicles but was well aware of it.
One of the toughest things about addressing the problems of the island is that it’s run by a confoundingly absent queen. “I often look at how we’re governing Jersey and say, ‘This is crazy,’” (say Higgins who was elected to Jersey parliament in 2008)There are things going on here that we don’t understand and can’t control. After 12 years in parliament, there are times I still don’t really know who’s running this island.”
Several years ago, Christensen, head of London’s Tax Justice Network, sat down and wrote a letter to the queen, exhorting her to take a stronger role within her sprawling constellation of tax shelters, crown dependencies, overseas territories, and secrecy jurisdictions, which, he noted, are among the most powerful on the planet. He was blunt, if dreadfully polite.
“I urge you,” he wrote, “as head of state of all these territories, to exert all possible influence to address one of the most harmful faultlines in the global economy.”
Extraordinarily, the queen, through a senior correspondence officer, wrote back. “The queen’s position as a constitutional sovereign precludes her from intervening in matters such as this,” the letter stated. “Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write as you did.”
Christensen was not impressed. “These places are undermining the global economy, so she cannot wash her hands of this role as monarch of all these tax shelters and head of state,” he says.
It doesn’t help, he adds, that she’s also directly reaping the benefits of her tax shelters.
“When the head of state is doing nothing and has offshore structures hiding her own money from tax, it does not pass the smell test,” he says. “A fish rots from the head.”
The queen does not involve herself in our constitution so what is she there for as a HoS pointless.
Accusations levelled at ? all accusations are true ?
Surely not grany you are a very strong supporter of an ex
party leader who was accused of anti semitism ?
I bet everyone has at least one skeleton in their cupboard
Campaign group Republic has to be seen to be doing something to maintain its existence. Hope no one else has any skeletons in their cupboard.

They have an agenda Grany.... and can they prove their claims in any case?
It wouldn’t have been the Queen ( if true anyway) but Palace staff.
Hope the group aren’t holding their breath!
