“Recollections may vary”. Harry and Meghan (again - I know!)

This may be a pot shot too far, now they seem to be including the Queen in their self- righteous whingeing.
(Not that I am biased)
Apparently Duke and Duchess of Sussex believe the Queen failed to take “full ownership” of the race allegations made in their interview with Oprah Winfrey, according to the authors of the unauthorised biography Finding Freedom.
A “friend of the couple” (unnamed, of course) has apparently told Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand that the Queen’s lack of action had prevented the Duke and Duchess from moving on from the claims.
The source also suggested that the Queen’s assertion that “recollections may vary” had not gone down well.
(It did however rank IMHO as one of HM’s all-time greatest bons mots )
The Queen has until now been one of the only senior members of the Royal family to escape the Sussexes’ criticism, but this new epilogue to Finding Freedom, published in People magazine in the US, suggests that the Duke and Duchess feel frustrated that the Duke’s grandmother did not follow through with her promise to address their concerns.
It says: “The Queen’s ‘recollections may vary’ comment ‘did not go unnoticed’ by the couple, who a close source said were ‘not surprised’ that full ownership was not taken
Just one question, if this book is “unauthorised”, does it or does it not reflect their views? Or is it an example of letting somebody else put words in their mouths so that they can deny them afterwards if necessary? All these “unnamed friends,” and “close sources” - aye, right.

Wrong, as far as I am concerned, as I have a friend called Megan and that is what comes on my phone choice after typing Me .......
I'm afraid I never preview or re read (as is sometimes very evident).
And on the Strictly thread the Judi/Judy insults are taken in good (ish) humour as intended?

Alegrias1 Sun 03-Oct-21 11:14:34

Because on this thread people either do it on purpose to denigrate and insult the person they are talking about, because they believe they know better how a person should be spelling their own name.

Or they make posts specifically praising one form of spelling over the other, even though they've got it wrong smile

Alegrias1

Who's Megan?

Oh, Meghan

I wonder why it is only on this thread we are obsessed with spelling royal names correctly, Megan or Meghan, Siena or Sienna?
On the Stricly thread there are a variety of name spellings like Judi or Judy, Sara or Sarah and no one hardly notices or cares?

Grany, you were racist. You equated the term gorilla with being black.

You don’t have any grounds to lecture other people on racism until you address your own imbedded racism and denial.

If you can, put aside your antipathy to the Royal Family and take an honest look at your own failings.

A query about Archie was no worse than your own racist assumption about that somebody called a gorilla must be black.

That was the racist connection made by you.

The Royals are have been racist queen got layers to exempt the palace from anti racism laws ok that still stand today. Don't accuse me of racism I just pointed out that what the queen said laughingly about a person whatever colour, (who knew what colour he was) was rude? Queen banned this film.
Now I want you to stop calling me racist thank you.

Yes Megan

I’m curious as to why you do that Annie? Is there a reason ?

Smileless2012 Sat 02-Oct-21 22:03:25

Discussing Archie's skin colour is one thing Grany being worried about it is another thing entirely.

I agree there's been "enough waste of time on this subject" so maybe someone could tell Harry, and then he might stop using this accusation as sword of Damocles to hang over the heads of his family.

Grany Sat 02-Oct-21 21:55:04

I don’t think you like them Grany. you drop so many hints,

I am so sorry to shock you but Megan is ‘a person of colour’

Really Annie, I think I knew that about Meghan. confused

But with their anti descrimiation racism laws that they have been exempted from it is not to be wondered at as to why they would discuss or be worried about Archie's skin colour, get my drift? gringrin

I think that's enough waste of time on this subject

Anniebach Sat 02-Oct-21 21:50:17

‘When I Grow Old I Shall Wear Purple’

Alegrias1 Sat 02-Oct-21 21:42:19

We are talking about the RF here. Heaven forbid there would be a person of colour in the mix.

They like to think they are better than anyone else, Royal, blue blood, though with their gene pool of marrying cousins I don't rate it. grin

Alegrias1 get over yourself for five minutes!

How rude.

I'm actually in quite a good mood because I'm watching Strictly.

You've never seen me upset.... ?

Anniebach Sat 02-Oct-21 20:44:45

Grany she cannot be charged for breaking any laws .

The Queen v The Queen

Anniebach Sat 02-Oct-21 20:43:05

I have made comments about what someone reminds me of,
but I am not a perfect human being.

And I even said when my darling daughter was pregnant
‘I wonder it it will have your dark hair or it will have it’s
Daddy’s red hair’.

Oh the shame , not

Grany Sat 02-Oct-21 20:40:47

Anniebach

The Queen cannot have exempted herself from any laws , she
cannot be charged or arrested

Annie she got her layers to exempt her and Palace from anti discrimination laws ok

lemsip Sat 02-Oct-21 20:40:38

Peasblossom Sat 02-Oct-21 20:39:57

But your assumption was racist.

You heard the word gorilla and assumed that referred to a black person and was a racist comment.

You made the racist assumption. Can’t you see that?

Alegrias1 Sat 02-Oct-21 20:38:49

Oh well that's ok then ?
