He was served on August 27 at his home in Windsor and has until September 17 to respond, the affidavit states.

Staff had “already been primed not to allow anyone access on to the property to serve court process and instructed anyone not to accept the service”, according to the document.

Guiffre's civil claim against Alan Dershowitz, one of six other men she named along with Prince Andrew, was dropped by consent last month. She is said to have dropped the claim because the confidential settlement she reached with Epstein released him and others from certain liability. (source: Daily Telegraph).
Dershowitz is attempting to get this document unsealed.

The more I read about this the more I get the impression that it is mainly about money not justice.

It cant be about justice as this is a civil case.
Civil cases are always about money.

Anniebach Tue 14-Sept-21 11:22:20

I agree Jackiest if it was about justice why is she not suing the
Americans allegedly involved as well.

Judge gives Virginia Roberts lawyers another week to serve legal papers.

Tricky as Andy doesn't want to receive papers.

nadateturbe Tue 14-Sept-21 10:18:25

Itt doesn't really matter if they are served properly or not. Surely a member of the RF is expected to behave better than using a technicality to avoid a court hearing.

Anniebach Tue 14-Sept-21 09:26:18

It depends what was in the agreement when she received the money from the Epstein payout.

trisher Tue 14-Sept-21 09:13:25

Apparently his lawyers are saying because she got money from Epstein it means PA is off the hook and she doesn't deserve anything. It sound so dodgy. It's almost as if they are saying it's irrelevant if he did anything.

Anniebach Tue 14-Sept-21 08:53:10

Surely it’s what lawyers do

Apparently his lawyers are trying to find any legal loophole to allege that the papers were not properly solved. It doesn't look good does it when you have to scrabble around looking for minor technicalities to avoid facing the issue. No doubt even when and if they accept service has been properly carried out, they will continue to use technicalities to thwart the process.

Good you have inside information that the papers were actually delivered correctly.

I feel it would be great for British morale if Prince Andrew faced up to the allegations in an American court, even if he lost. If Prince A did so he'd be setting an example of moral courage that would inspire us. It takes guts to shoulder blame and pay the penalty even if you are innocent.

well, it wouldn't inspire me! Why on earth would anyone be expected to 'shoulder blame and pay the penalty even if you are innocent'. Is this some kind of nationalist rant about the British sticking it to the Yanks? hmm

Sex with a 17 year old is not a crime in this country yet he can be found guilty of having sex with a 17 year old in this country

This is not a criminal prosecution. It is a civil case.

varian Mon 13-Sept-21 19:38:32

Is it just him or is he being very badly advised? The slippery he gets in trying to evade a court hearing the more guilty he looks.

Casdon Mon 13-Sept-21 19:09:41

Just seen on Sky News that he is contesting.

I do think it's ridiculous that PA is being so uncooperative. Why??

nadateturbe Mon 13-Sept-21 18:25:37

Just saw NOT Caleo ?

nadateturbe Mon 13-Sept-21 18:24:23

Well I must be a bit thick Caleo. I posted further back to say I was missing something. ?

Caleo Mon 13-Sept-21 12:33:53

PS my typo error. Should be "probably NOT the only gran who------"

Caleo Mon 13-Sept-21 12:32:25

Okay Anniebach pet!

Anniebach Mon 13-Sept-21 12:23:24

So sorry Caleo

Caleo Mon 13-Sept-21 12:15:59

Anniebach, please be reassuured I don't and did not! Absolutely the opposite. You are probably the only Gran who failed to understand what I meant.

25Avalon Mon 13-Sept-21 11:12:14

I see there is a pre-trial meeting today to see if enough has been done to deliver the papers to PA or whether more is required.

Smileless2012 Mon 13-Sept-21 10:33:56

You're right about that saying nanna8.

Yes they've both lied Annie so it's going to be very difficult to be able to believe either of them,

nanna8 Mon 13-Sept-21 03:53:14

I think there is a saying that if you lie down with dogs, you get fleas. Quite applicable here.
