A winter of very expensive heating and little food?

I have just been setting up a future Tesco grocery delivery.

I regularly have some of this.

It might be a temporary blip, that happens with some products sometimes but I have not known it happen with something basic like this since around March to April 2020, and maybe not with this brand.

But in the present situation I am wondering if this a temporary thing or not.

Just wondering what results readers around the country get by clicking the link. No need to say where you are, just thinking that a snapshot around the country might be an interesting insight.

We could do this for other products if you wish.

I used to buy rabbit in there for making a stew Callistemon and Brussels sprouts with frost still on them.Happy days!

Not many masks around but I understand they have a drop in centre for student vaccinations. Hopefully they will take advantage of that.

Just thinking about last year and I remember Exeter had a big outbreak when the students went back but Plymouth didn't seem as bad. Let's hope they are all safe this year, so nice to see them all enjoying themselves, young and healthy and full of excitement at their new life and a few seemed to have started romances already and definitely no masks involved.

That's great worried, Plymouth is a place close to my heart. Any sign that students are taking precautions against Covid?

Just been into Plymouth and shops look full. I wonder if it is the small out of the way towns that are feeling the shortages more? I can sort of understand that as if you are short of HGVs delivering to some small Devon towns isn't going to be the fastest places to get to.

The city was buzzing with all the freshers finding their way round the city. Felt very full of energy and positivity which was uplifting.

We can’t do without CO2 altogether. Humans would cease to exist if that were so. Remember the carbon cycle.

Gasometer were connected to the gasworks and stored the gas made from coal. They use to rise up and down according to the volume they were holding if you remember. They are not suited to storing natural gas. Most have now been dismantled and the sites cleared.

I remember seeing them when I was a child. I think that there are a few cages left as a reminder of our industrial past.

According to some twitter people gasometers are obsolete technology and not suitable for storing natural gas. Something to do with the form in which it is stored. I'll see if I can find the thread I read.

Growstuff I also love a salad as you described I sometimes grow my own mixed lettuce leaves only takes a small window ledge sized trough. You just gave me the idea I could do this through the winter on my windowsill.
Sometimes as it’s usually only me that eats them regularly a mixed bag can go a bit off if not used so clipping a few off each day fresh is much nicer

Yes, it is nicer and I grow them in troughs in my little garden, but I don't have the window sill space to grow them inside.

Boris is in the USA trying to persuade countries to cut the emissions of CO2 and here at home the government are paying a subsidy to a company to produce more C02. You couldn't make it up!

The problem is that the CO2 emissions aren't being captured, as I'm sure you know very well. It would be possible (and is) to capture some of them, but the technology needs to be developed.

An other move could be to develop more eco-friendly coolants. We already have aerogel, but it's horrendously expensive.

Maybe if universities and research facilities hadn't lost EU funding, the UK could be on the way to developing something.

I do occasionally pop into Lidl if I happen to be passing (about once every three months) and I like their nuts and seeds. Most of the food I buy is fresh or frozen (non-processed) and it won't keep for three months.

My nearest supermarket is Lidl and I love their nuts and seeds as well. I have saved alot since they opened a couple of years ago. The downside is the first thing you see is the bakery so I've saved pounds in money and put on pounds on the hips. I love their chocolate brownies and their pastel de nata. Last time I checked their pastel de nata were literally half the price of the same thing in Sainsburys. Hard to walk past when you have no willpower.
