Johnson asking Brazil for emergency food supplies

Although this I’d denied by the peers that be. The speculation is that it’s turkeys for Christmas. More suggestions about what else it could be. Is there a trade deal to be had here? Oven ready?

Johnson no longer being PM is not dependent on there being a Labour government.

lemongrove, I can assure you that any time Boris Johnson loses his job, I will be delighted. I'm not a member of any political party, but am quite prepared to take a chance on Keir Starmer.

If we get turkeys air-freighted from Brazil or anywhere else so far away, the Conservatives will lose points in the polls from anyone who takes climate change seriously. Or so I would hope.

lemongrove Fri 24-Sept-21 13:31:11

I think the urge to eat turkey on Christmas Day would easily win out with voters Wheniwas

There seems to be quite a few on GN who believe that Johnson won’t stand in the next election, but what PM ever goes willingly and why would the Conservatives get rid of him if he’s still popular? It’s ages off yet though.

What will they do when he's no longer PM lemongrovehmm.

Celebrate?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 24-Sept-21 13:39:02

Brazil needs vaccines, I understand that the U.K. has more than it needs. Makes sense to trade vaccines for Turkeys ??

lemongrove Fri 24-Sept-21 13:39:13

We’ve done that one already the worriedwell ????

I don’t like turkey at all, but as so many people do like it, and can’t imagine Christmas without it can you picture the outrage if only a few were available? Before you know it, if Johnson ensures turkeys for all, the Conservatives will be ten points ahead in the polls.?

Will it go any better than his promises about last Christmas? That didn't go well did it, might be better if he keeps his mouth shut and doesn't jinx it again.

A picture's worth 1,000 words.

People celebrate in their own way, I might not have a party but I might well put bunting out. Each to their own.

lemongrove Fri 24-Sept-21 13:43:36

Or have a roast turkey feast??

lemongrove Fri 24-Sept-21 13:46:24

Aleg we don’t know, but it’s entirely possible that Johnson will recapture popularity by two years time.Even in one years time.Even by Christmas. ‘A week is a long time in politics’ and
‘Events, dear boy, events!’

Granmarderby10 Fri 24-Sept-21 13:51:25

give me ? Wellington any Christmas Day ….stuff Turkeys I say ?

JenniferEccles Fri 24-Sept-21 13:59:27

Yes lemongrove ?
The promise to Get Brexit Done undoubtedly played a big part in Boris’s landslide victory in the GE.

If he is seen to be the saviour of Christmas by ensuring there were sufficient turkeys he’d be unbeatable wouldn’t he ?!

‘Starmer stymied by turkeys’ !

I can see The Sun headline now!!

A Turkey farmer on LBC.

We are more likely to buy turkeys from the EU apparently, whilst our farmers are ruined.

Callistemon Fri 24-Sept-21 14:28:05

This is just nuts!

vegansrock Fri 24-Sept-21 14:29:43

It’s incredible that some people would rather see turkeys flown from Brazil than help British farmers get the workers they need.

ayse Fri 24-Sept-21 14:31:10

Alegrias1, please put me down for the All-Gone-Boris party whenever we can have it. I'll do some garlic bread with a real French baguette. grin

Me too?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 24-Sept-21 14:34:02

I’ll supply the champagne - although not French but some lovely stuff from Cornwall.

Our businesses will need all the support they can get, until Brexit is booted out.

Cheer probably. Then tell those of you that voted for him that I was right all along, and I told you so, but you told me to get over it. Remember?

lemongrove Fri 24-Sept-21 16:23:09

No Gill I don’t.

Perhaps they could fly here themselves.

Smileless2012 Fri 24-Sept-21 16:25:01

No, I don't remember that either.
