Are you implying that folks who want to support U.K. veterans and are interested in animal welfare are blindly being led into voting for BF ?

I am just so fed up with what I (and some friends and family) are now calling hysteria politicking .

Yes, some of them are. They click on a link thinking it's about abused animals or homeless vets, then they are bombarded with propaganda. Some of it seems harmless enough to start with - and maybe people even believe in a tiny bit of it. That's exactly how people get sucked in!

There's no defending Britain First or anything that they try to do, and anyone saying they agree with them a little bit or that warning against them is hysteria politicking are falling for their methods.

They win people over by pretending to support the same things they do - ex-servicemen's rights and animal welfare - so that they say they support them a bit.

My comment regarding hysteria politicking was that they have tried in many forms to get noticed, each time something goes wrong and hey ho a change of name and reinvention. The only people not seeing through their mask are idiots with little or no grasp of politics.
They will never garner enough support to have any influence in my opinion.

I don’t agree with all the money we are spending on critical race theory. I don’t agree left wing ideologies should be taught to young children and neither should right wing ones, unless they are both taught.

I am not being manipulated by anyone either left wing or right wing. I am able to make up my own mind thank you very much.

Seems like they only really attract incels, the illiterate and the extremist right.

The only use they ever were that I could see was an insight into which people I should definitely avoid.

PS. I'm surprised that rumours about Gina Miller attracted more negative comments than Britain First.

Gina Miller is a Leavers' hate figure because of her action to try and keep May straight with parliamentary sovereignty. Spun by the leaders of Leave as Gina Miller trying to stop Brexit. A message thoroughly imbibed by Leavers, as demonstrated on the Miller thread.

At that time, of course, we did have a PM who had some respect for the law.

They've already lasted more than five minutes and aren't going away yet.

The trouble is that racists and islamophobes won't click on their mute button.

It doesn't shock me at all 25Avalon.

Apart from the fact they've broken the law in the past, it would appear there is nothing to stop them from registering.

It's important people know what they really stand for. One of the ways they attracted followers on social media was to pretend to be campaigning for veterans and against animal cruelty. People clicked on links and then were spammed with pro-Britain First propaganda. Don't ever be taken in by their pretending to be interested in real issues. They include a few just to attract people such as you.

Oh I'm not sure about that Kandinsky - Gina Miller as far as I remember operates within the law and doesn't threaten other people, in fact someone went to jail for threatening her, so yes you don't have to take any notice of her or her party.

BF on the other hand, can hardly be ignored, based on their past behaviour.

I actually agree with some of what Britain First say - shock, horror!! But only a tiny tiny part. I am sure the same is true of all political parties that whilst we don’t agree with the majority of what they say there may be a tiny element that we do. The danger is not just BF’s total policies but as Scones says their method of operating is what is of concern. But we have to allow them to form just as we allow peaceful protests. Once they stop being peaceful then action has to be taken.

And here they are being a little more upfront about their real aim.

You don't need to wait long to be outraged by Britain First's policies or methods of operating.

No, it isn't compulsory, although I really am surprised you haven't heard of BritainFirst.

Here are a few policies taken from Britain First's website: -

- Introduce a ban on abortion like that in place in Northern Ireland to prevent the deaths of millions of British children.

– Prohibit the teaching of left-wing ideological doctrines which are harmful to children and young folk. These include multiculturalism, modern feminism, gender fluidity and identity, white privilege and critical race theory.

- Greater influence of the Armed Forces in the education system, including day trips, training events and careers advise. (Their spelling, not mine)

– Introduce the use of 'chain gangs' to provide labour for national public work.

They seem like nice people.

That's what makes them so dangerous, that moderate right wingers think it's all being blown out of proportion.

If people are not outraged by what they say and do, then they need to examine their morals.

They're not really even 'Britain' First, are they? More like Engerland First...

Which is precisely why they use social media as a tool.
