David Ames MP stabbed multiple times

My thoughts are with his family what a terrible shock.

Sorry ‘is’ not ‘was’.

I have just seen this having been out all day.

His poor family.

I’ve just heard on the news that the man arrested was a Somalian national.

He’s my MP here in Southend. He was a great constituency MP. He often attended my choir concerts and was present at many other local events and he often knocked on my door at election time and was very friendly although I told him I wouldn’t vote for him. He was an animal lover too which is always an indication of a decent person

Horrendous. A desperately sad reflection of our times.

Angry and violent people and those with mental health problems are always a risk to politicians, sadly.

Dreadful news, his family must be devastated, a man just working for his community. So sad.

So very sad. Just going about his job for many years, helping people.

How awful. We lived in Southend for 2 years and he represented us well. A decent man.
Even though we're socialists.

How can we understand the motivation of a few wicked, violent people.

Awful for his family, his colleagues and his constituents. Just doing his job.

Just so awful and shocking. Tragic that it seems society is becoming so polarised - and so much hatred. Is there any information about who and why?

So shocking! How awful. Poor man, just doing his job, trying to help people.

This is terrible. Just doing his job. One of my neighbours has a daughter who is an MP we often see her and her children visiting - she was terrified when Jo Cox was murdered - I don't bear too think how she is feeling now. Her mum was so proud when she was elected, I think she'd wish she'd give it up now. I know she gets some disgusting hate mail and threats.

Such dreadful news and shows how vulnerable our politicians are as they go about their constituency business.

Oh what dreadful news. I can't believe that something so awful has happened again. Poor man, poor family,poor daughter and prospective son in law, just appalling.
