Oh, look. Guess who took a private jet flight from COP26 to London (and back) to attend a private dinner.

Hmmm! Well! I tried to find out about the difference between a climate sceptic and a climate denier and came across this article:

theconversation.com/climate-sceptic-or-climate-denier-its-not-that-simple-and-heres-why-117913

Not sure I see much difference.

PS. What do you mean about the scientific models for Covid? Scientists have known almost from the emergence of the virus what it's like, how it transmits and what effects it has.

Whitewavemark2 did you read the entire article? Here’s a section

The Prime Minister travelled on one of the most carbon efficient planes of its size in the world, using the most sustainable aviation fuel possible. The U.K. will be offsetting all carbon emissions associated with running COP26 including travel

I think Johnson is more of a sceptic than a denier on climate change. I don’t think at heart he agrees with a lot of the measures, most of which hit the poor and put us under state control and erode democracy. He is not a true believer IMO but an opportunist.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 04-Nov-21 11:43:13

This thread is about Johnson, who is our PM, having attending (apparently) the most important climate change summit ever, whizzing off early in a private jet to attend a dinner with a climate change denier close friend of Paterson. Undoubtedly the little matter of overturning the suspension of Paterson found guilty of corruption was discussed.

GG13 so true and all these measures will affect the poor much much more than the rich. We are being hoodwinked if we think otherwise. I’ve just read up on Lord Charles Moore, Boris’s so called mate and I have to agree with what he says on that score. Climate sceptics are not the same as deniers. The models from science were wrong for Covid too, but that’s not to say Covid doesn’t exist.

I don’t think it’s whataboutery I think we have to look at them all, and en mass the whole spectacle is nothing more than that. No one can criticise one person and expect others to escape criticism. As I said previously, they’re all guilty. Total hypocrisy! From them all!

Whitewavemark2 Thu 04-Nov-21 11:21:15

??? love the whataboutery.

JenniferEccles Thu 04-Nov-21 11:19:14

Sorry GG13.
I’ve just seen you had already posted more or less what I said !

JenniferEccles Thu 04-Nov-21 11:17:13

It’s all been a bit of a joke hasn’t it?
Biden apparently breezed in complete with 80 cars, a helicopter and a decoy Air Force One!

They are all at it.

Seeing a photo of Carrie having a jolly in Rome, I strongly disapprove of and this includes any, other halves, who serve no purpose in being there, sends out the wrong message and the seriousness of COP26.

I agree, you couldn’t make this up.

nanna8

I don’t think any of theses people, including Prince Charles, have any right whatsoever to pontificate on saving the planet and global warming and pollution. They should concentrate on helping people and sharing their vast amounts of money around.

We had a programme on climate change in the U.K. last night, and climate scientists think that Australia is going to be more affected than any other country.

The only difference is that places like Africa are unable to deal with economically.

maddyone Thu 04-Nov-21 11:11:09

Indeed, good for the Duchess of Cambridge. However, I agree with nanna8.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 04-Nov-21 11:08:12

The Duchess of Cambridge was spotted flying back from Glasgow on a cheap standard flight good for her.

Joe Biden has FOUR planes with him, Airforce 1, a decoy Airforce 1 (folks not told which one he is on) along with two transport planes for his helicopter and various armoured cars.

Sorry COP26 is the elite rich telling the poor they need to pay more taxes and make sacrifices in their everyday lives…

Hypocrites one and all

silverlining48 Thu 04-Nov-21 10:43:19

I think the mate was a close friend of Owen Paterson

maddyone Thu 04-Nov-21 10:40:56

They’re all as bad as another. It was reported lots of them used private jets (I haven’t got numbers, it was reported on SkyNews) and the Japanese had a practice run to ensure they could land at the airport??? Biden and his twenty cars. The royals and their private jets and helicopters. And Boris Johnson and his private jet. Climate change? You couldn’t make it up!

Whitewavemark2 Thu 04-Nov-21 10:27:31

Oh yes! A climate change sceptic.

Dear oh dear

Whitewavemark2 Thu 04-Nov-21 10:26:31

Who was the mate?

MaizieD Thu 04-Nov-21 10:24:46

Title says it all really.

Johnson's Green conversion didn't last long 400 miles for dinner with an old mate...
