Nine years after being shot in the head and left for dead by a Taliban gunman, Malala Yousafzai wrote on social media: “Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life.
“We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.”
I do find it interesting that they have had the muslim niqqah marriage ceremony, but do not seem to have had a legal ceremony in a registery office or similar.
MOnica, they may well have the civil wedding that makes it legal in British law. I rather hope so - too many young Muslim women find themselves disadvantaged if they dont
That photo is utterly gorgeous. I had no idea that Malala lived in Brum. I wish them every bit of love and joy ♥️
she initially came to Birmingham for specialist surgery and rehab, paid for by the pakistan govt, then her father got a job there with the pakistan consulate and she attended one of the king edward schools before going on to oxford. so big up to birmingham.
