He had his asylum appeal rejected in 2008 yet he was still here. Why, and how many more like him are here?

I've never really understood why one country should bear the burden of refugees just because of geography. I mean Bangladesh is a very poor country but has alot of refugees, over 1 million Rohingya. According to UNHCR UK has 132,349 refugees, 77,245 pending asylum cases and 4662 stateless persons in the UK. That's quite a big difference even before you consider the relative poverty of Bangladesh.

Surely there should be some scheme so that all countries take their share.

I thought he'd retired quietly. No need for such talk. The world is taking people in. It's not just us.
