Is Johnson the new Trump?

Twitting a letter addressed to Macron?
Is it how things are done nowadays?
Following in Trump’s footsteps?
And no 10 replying to a highly annoyed Macron “je ne regrette rien”, is that serious?
Was it twitted for the benefit of the right wing papers?
So many questions and so few answers!

“ And no 10 replying to a highly annoyed Macron “je ne regrette rien”, is that serious?”. Where did you see that ?

Lucca Fri 26-Nov-21 17:19:28

Although he is a twit, it is “tweeted”

avitorl Fri 26-Nov-21 17:29:52

when it refers to Johnson I think twitted is spot on!

From the Twitter account of John Stevens, deputy political editor of the Daily Mail:
UK-France row latest: Je ne regrette rien
Asked if Boris Johnson regrets public letter to Macron, Downing Street says: "No"

Of course he doesn't regret it. He did it to keep his xenophobic supporters onside after losing so much political ground in the last two weeks.

He's not the slightest bit interested in furthering the interests of the UK, just his own...

Not quite the right thread but couldn't find a more appropriate one.

"What do you call the tory cabinet meeting outside?"
"A thicket"

Of course this “let’s blame anyone besides ourselves” is popular with the anti foreigner Brexitty electorate.

Yes!

I think a twit twittered is very apt

M0nica Fri 26-Nov-21 18:52:33

They are both idiots, but Johnson has no excuse, he is meant to be clever.

frenchie Fri 26-Nov-21 18:52:35

Thank you everyone for being so kind about my silly mistake but I was so incensed!
I’ll make sure I proofread next time!

Monica, the dictum that many of these public school/Oxbridge politicians are 'educated beyond the level of their intelligence' is applicable to this lot and especially their so-called leader.

VioletSky Fri 26-Nov-21 19:03:01

Worse than some of the childish behaviour carried on by our leading politicians is the fact they seem to think they are funny?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 26-Nov-21 19:04:46

Johnson is, like Trump a populist so much of his modus operandi will be recognisably the same.

grumppa Fri 26-Nov-21 19:16:28

My first reaction was that it beggars belief that a head of government should release a letter to another one, of a country with whom he is trying to cooperate, without the fullest prior consultation: e.g. let's prevent embarrassing leaks, let's keep control.

Then I remembered that the head of government is Boris the Buffoon, so nothing surprises me.

Kali2 Fri 26-Nov-21 19:37:50

Diplomacy, hey!

Jaxjacky Fri 26-Nov-21 20:58:39

To answer the OP, no.
