Keir Starmer’s reshuffle & Angela Rayner

Just hours beforehand, Ms Rayner appeared to play down reports of an imminent reshuffle, telling reporters that she believed Sir Keir “would tell me first” before proceeding.

But by 11.30am senior Labour sources had confirmed that a reshuffle had now commenced, with Cat Smith, the shadow secretary of state for young people, publishing her letter of resignation on Twitter.

Was Angela blindsided by this reshuffle do you think?

Square pegs in round holes until Labour rid themselves of the abhorrent and the fruitcakes like Abbott, Burgon, Butler, Long-Bailey, McDonnell and Rayner (unfortunately elected).

No credible opposition = no democracy = government by diktat = the here and now.

As if the tory party hasn't any abhorrent fruitcakes... grin

Indeed they do MaizieD.

I lent Boris my vote. To Get Brexit Done. Now we are out of the clutches of the EU I’m open to electioneering again.

David Lammy as Shadow foreign secretary? ?

Hilarious. "This country is racist!" "Oh hello Ambassador, yes, what a great country I represent".

vegansrock Tue 30-Nov-21 07:10:25

So someone who calls out racism can’t represent the U.K.? Are you suggesting there is no racism in the U.K.?

Katie59 Tue 30-Nov-21 07:31:00

It seems Rayner was not informed, that shows just how divided the party is, even if they don’t agree it’s a courtesy to at least inform them and ask for their approval - even if they don’t. The leader has final say, that does not mean ignoring other opinions.

Oh well! At least he won't call people picanninies or claim that Muslim women look like letter boxes.

I am not a fan of David Lammy, I remember his rant regarding not needing anymore white saviours referring to Comic Relief and a picture of Stacy Dooley holding a little African boy.

Nobody is asking you to be one, GG13.

Neither am I sure why it's so hilarious that an anti-racist black MP has been appointed shadow Foreign Sec.

What is relevant is, is he able to do the job effectively?

Iam64 Tue 30-Nov-21 08:33:51

Rayner was aware the reshuffle was happening, her role isn’t to be consulted. The press are mischief making as usual. Starmer and the LP doing better in the polls so let’s do all we can to undermine them.
As a black Briton, Lammy is better placed to identify and call out racism than white British people.

lemongrove Tue 30-Nov-21 08:44:37

Although ....as has been said, the main thing is that he can do the job ( not spend his time calling out racism.)
I suspect Rayner may have known about the reshuffle, but they do often take place in great secrecy so that leaks can’t get out.
Starmer is slowly but surely weeding out Corbyn cronies.

eazybee Tue 30-Nov-21 08:54:53

According to her office, Angela Rayner was informed on Monday, but not consulted.

Casdon Tue 30-Nov-21 09:22:09

That’s as it should be eazybee. I just heard Lisa Nandy on the news saying it had been done in exactly the same way as all reshuffles are (regardless of party). I did think there was veiled criticism of AR’s behaviour on this in what LN said.

Grany Tue 30-Nov-21 15:16:41

Keir Starmer lied his way into the Labour Party leadership and he has been lying ever since.

He was elected on 10 pledges that he has since abandoned in their entirety and I have absolutely no doubt that he will also abandon any policy he has announced since then – whether at the party conference or not – as soon as they become inconvenient to him.

Just a quick shout out, Keir Starmer literally won the leadership claiming to be a completely different person with a completely different set of objectives and values. pic.twitter.com/kK1xuN8kL1

Starmer’s words mean nothing at all. Those of us who criticise him aren’t paying any attention to his empty words – because we are watching what he is actually doing.

This evidence reveals that he has spent the whole of his time as leader conducting a protracted persecution of his own party members – particularly left-wing Jews, making this an anti-Semitic attack as well – with false accusations of anti-Semitism that carry absolutely no weight in the real world – at the behest of his apparent masters at the Israeli Embassy.

It shows that he has supported Boris Johnson’s Conservative government when it has inflicted dazzlingly stupid and genocidal policies on us, such as almost every measure to do with Covid-19 that has been inflicted on us.

It shows that he can’t win elections because people see him as a pale blue Tory.
And it shows that he mistreats even his own MPs:

Has Keir Starmer ever said a positive or kindly word about Zarah Sultana? @UKLabour

— Daniel Grigg (@Daniel_Grigg) November 25, 2021

Keir Starmer has never offered a word of solidarity to Zarah Sultana. Not after she broke down in tears in Parliament describing the Islamophobia she’s faced. Not after she was told to “go back to your country” whilst on bereavement leave. Never. Why? t.co/bPM8SG7xpT

— Alex Nunns (@alexnunns) November 25, 2021

He supports genocidal racists and he undermines people of colour in his own organisation – while pretending to be pious for the cameras.

Keir Starmer is a liar and I don't support him.

Casdon Tue 30-Nov-21 15:43:56

I think we’ve heard your perspective Grany.
From my perspective (and of course our votes have equal validity) at last it feels like Labour are getting into an electable position again, and with or without Starmer himself this is the future direction of the party. I feel more optimistic than I’ve felt for years.

Dinahmo Tue 30-Nov-21 16:11:44

Grany Both the men you quoted are strong Corbyn supporters so it's not surprising that they'll put the boot into KS.

Galaxy Tue 30-Nov-21 17:37:09

Electability isnt important to Grany, Casdon. Being right and pure is whats important. I would bet pretty much anything that Grany has no need of a labour government.

eazybee Tue 30-Nov-21 18:06:26

I shall never be a Labour supporter, but I have a great deal of respect for Keir Starmer, and I can see the uphill struggle he faces to unite his party.

varian Tue 30-Nov-21 19:53:36

The left wing of the Labour Party, intent on undermining Kier Starmer, or any Labour leader who is not Jeremy Corbyn, are doing their best to keep the Tories in power, no matter how much damage they have done to our country.

It is madness.

Iam64 Tue 30-Nov-21 19:59:48

It’s strange isn’t it varian. You have to wonder if they really do, BElieve that ensuring to tories remain in power will eventually lead to the Revolution they crave. People so fed up they riot in the streets, then along comes someone like JC to lead the revolution, destroy our society and replace it with Utopia. What could possibly go wrong?

About PR

The truth is, if the Leadership had engaged with this unifying policy as intensively as they pushed their own proposed rule changes, PR would now be Labour policy.”

We are all for KS Labour it's him that's not for us socialists

He fans the flames of racial grievance, pitting communities against each other, despises English culture, and is an advocate of open borders. No thanks.

Revolutions usually end up with repressive authoritarian regimes, too.
