She made a tearful speech saying she would regret her lighthearted comments for the rest of her life.

Lucca Wed 08-Dec-21 17:43:45

She should and did resign. However not just her !!
I wonder how long the “investigation “ will take…..

Rather shallow I know but she’s wearing my jumper. Christmas present to myself.

I’m just as shallow….off to have a look at it !

Lucca Wed 08-Dec-21 17:46:36

Hmmm.there’s a lot of snivelling but no tears,

vegansrock Wed 08-Dec-21 17:49:57

Where’s the jumper from?
I actually feel a bit sorry for her even though I think she was right to resign. It’s the whole “deputy heads will roll” scenario when we should be looking further up the food chain.

MayBeMaw Wed 08-Dec-21 17:55:07

Thanks tickingbird
I meant the label (as it is clearly a Fair Isle jumper, but that’s a pattern/style not a brand)

MissAdventure Wed 08-Dec-21 17:56:23

I've not the slightest pity for her.
She is upset to be caught - no more, no less, after sitting on the knowledge for a year.
It made my stomach churn watching her laughing and giggling on that video.

Galaxy Wed 08-Dec-21 17:58:06

I dont know if I feel sorry for her but I do feel it's a bit like hiding behind mummy's skirts so to speak.

Nice jumper though!

Don't let it put you off wearing it.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 08-Dec-21 18:02:28

No pity from me.

She is an extremely unpleasant person.

Has anyone seen the mauling she gave to a single mother. Dreadful woman.

glammanana Wed 08-Dec-21 18:03:28

Some poor person has to be made the fall guy and it has fallen on her.

JaneJudge Wed 08-Dec-21 18:05:48

I say leave her alone. She is not the enemy. The enemy is still in control!

Exactly

quite
why on earth are you al so angry with her in particular? confused

MissAdventure Wed 08-Dec-21 18:19:59

Because she was willing to lie to cover up.
Because she found it amusing.
Because she never stopped to consider that it was wrong in any way.
Do you think she should stay?
Someone with so little empathy.
It's absolutely chilling.

JaneJudge Wed 08-Dec-21 18:21:40

I only saw the clip on the news where she said it was cheese and biscuits.

I can only remember her from Peston. It seems a bit weird she'd risk her career like this when she has small children.

MissAdventure Wed 08-Dec-21 18:23:42

Presumably every attendee willingly risked their career.

JaneJudge Wed 08-Dec-21 18:24:34

I have just read her wikipedia page. They are all mates then <sigh> I give up

JaneJudge Wed 08-Dec-21 18:25:53

I now want to shove her cheese and biscuits up her arse

MissAdventure Wed 08-Dec-21 18:26:26

Yes.
It's all a big circle of mates and contacts and networks.
Her husband is a journalist.

Calistemon Wed 08-Dec-21 18:28:08

MissAdventure

Yes.
It's all a big circle of mates and contacts and networks.
Her husband is a journalist.

It brings a new meaning to 'We're all in this together' doesn't it.

MissAdventure Wed 08-Dec-21 18:30:43

I used to pooh pooh some of the ideas that my conspiracy theorist friend came up with, but she did always say the country is in the hands of "the elite" who do whatever they want, simply because they can.

JaneJudge Wed 08-Dec-21 18:31:10

I apologise for sticking up for her

They are obviously all as bad as one another.

MissAdventure Wed 08-Dec-21 18:34:10

Cummings has said that it would be crazy for Johnson to lie, insinuating that there were journalists who know exactly what went on.
Not that he is anyone worth the space his feet take up.
It's a bit ominous, though.
I think more will come to light.

tickingbird Wed 08-Dec-21 18:35:31

MayBeMaw. Sorry my mistake. It’s from Toast. Rather pricey but it is lovely and, as I said, my present to myself smile

Yammy Wed 08-Dec-21 18:36:40

Is she being made a scapegoat? We can all cry when we are found in the wrong, she knew the rules the rest of the country obeyed them she chose to laugh because she had done the opposite.

Pammie1 Wed 08-Dec-21 18:37:58

What happened was indefensible - people’s Christmases ruined, families grieving, ripped apart by loss and all they can do is play silly games. She did the right thing by resigning. Boris told a pack of lies and he should go too. The government - and I use the term loosely - have shown themselves to be a pack of hooray Henries who view the public with contempt and they couldn’t run a bath never mind a country. Just looking at he stricter measures Boris is introducing - only last week he was urging everyone not to change their Christmas plans, so I think we can all safely look forward to another Christmas in lockdown.

Pammie1 Wed 08-Dec-21 18:39:48

JaneJudge

I now want to shove her cheese and biscuits up her arse

That made me laugh out loud - a vivid mental picture !!
