She made a tearful speech saying she would regret her lighthearted comments for the rest of her life.

He just doesn't 'get it', just like he doesn't 'get' many many things.

The video tape showed disgraceful behaviour over a year ago. They’ve carried on thinking they’ve got away with it.

Let’s hope all at that were party to that video, and also those at the “alleged party” are now quaking in their boots!
How have they been able to sleep at night?

The arrogance, lack of judgement and cruelty is beyond my understanding……

Did you hear him paying a tribute to Allegra in his answer to Laura in the bulletin? How dare he do that when everyone is so angry with her attitude!

This could be the final straw for Boris.

People seem happy that it's going to be investigated but it all depends on who is doing the investigating.

?? Vegansrock - Of course! - But she'll go home ?

vegansrock Wed 08-Dec-21 20:35:28

Will she be having a leaving party?

Ro60 Wed 08-Dec-21 20:18:52

On the ITV News video - a trial run - with possible questions that might be posed to her, she says (with regards to the party)
"I went home - what's the answer?"

She was the newly appointed press secretary.

Then regurgitated by the Mirror Newspaper.
Thrown under the bus.
Makes me wonder who is running this country.

*MayBeMaw*. Sorry my mistake. It’s from Toast. Rather pricey but it is lovely and, as I said, my present to myself smile

You’re worth it tchsmile!

She is a very foolish woman. Caught out as others have said. No alternative but to resign.

Allegra Stratton seemed to be feeling very sorry for herself. I seriously doubt whether she has any scruples and would have continued to behave the same way, showing utter contempt for us law abiding insignificant people; had she not been found out.

I have just read her wikipedia page. They are all mates then <sigh> I ^give up^

Rishi Sunak was best man at Allegra Stratton's wedding and they are godparents to each other's children. There is a chance that if Johnson goes Mr Sunak could step into his shoes.

Who leaked the video I wonder?

Not that he is anyone worth the space his feet take up.

What a lovely expression, MissAdventure! I'll adopt it, if you don't mind!

It's the fact that AS found it all funny - at a time when she must have known that people could not visit their ill or dying relations - that I find hard to forgive. Sorry, I can't work up any sympathy.

I now want to shove her cheese and biscuits up her arse

That made me laugh out loud - a vivid mental picture !!

Pammie1 Wed 08-Dec-21 18:37:58

What happened was indefensible - people’s Christmases ruined, families grieving, ripped apart by loss and all they can do is play silly games. She did the right thing by resigning. Boris told a pack of lies and he should go too. The government - and I use the term loosely - have shown themselves to be a pack of hooray Henries who view the public with contempt and they couldn’t run a bath never mind a country. Just looking at he stricter measures Boris is introducing - only last week he was urging everyone not to change their Christmas plans, so I think we can all safely look forward to another Christmas in lockdown.

Is she being made a scapegoat? We can all cry when we are found in the wrong, she knew the rules the rest of the country obeyed them she chose to laugh because she had done the opposite.

Cummings has said that it would be crazy for Johnson to lie, insinuating that there were journalists who know exactly what went on.
Not that he is anyone worth the space his feet take up.
It's a bit ominous, though.
I think more will come to light.

JaneJudge Wed 08-Dec-21 18:31:10

I apologise for sticking up for her

They are obviously all as bad as one another.

MissAdventure Wed 08-Dec-21 18:30:43

I used to pooh pooh some of the ideas that my conspiracy theorist friend came up with, but she did always say the country is in the hands of "the elite" who do whatever they want, simply because they can.

MissAdventure

Yes.
It's all a big circle of mates and contacts and networks.
Her husband is a journalist.

It brings a new meaning to 'We're all in this together' doesn't it.

Presumably every attendee willingly risked their career.

JaneJudge Wed 08-Dec-21 18:21:40

I only saw the clip on the news where she said it was cheese and biscuits.

I can only remember her from Peston. It seems a bit weird she'd risk her career like this when she has small children.

MissAdventure Wed 08-Dec-21 18:19:59

Because she was willing to lie to cover up.
Because she found it amusing.
Because she never stopped to consider that it was wrong in any way.
Do you think she should stay?
Someone with so little empathy.
It's absolutely chilling.
