It now looks possible that the huge majority enjoyed by the disgraced Tory MP Owen Paterson could be overturned by the Liberal Democrat candidate Helen Morgan

It is not about demonising Tories, per say- it is saying those who support the current form of Tory, and condone their actions, are part of the problem, and must take some responsibility.

I left the LP after giving Corbyn a year to convince me of his merits. There were none
I re-joined and voted Starmer.
MayBee70 is sadly absolutely right about the extreme left in the LP. Dreadful divisive bullies - like their hero Corbyn. They conspire to undermine Starmer and attempt to dominate constituency parties.
They don’t want to win an election, they want revolution. They need excluding

Johnson on Sky News now. Dead man talking…..

MayBee70 Fri 17-Dec-21 12:13:40

…vaccines, vaccines vaccines….

Whitewavemark2 Fri 17-Dec-21 12:15:35

When I think of vaccines I think what a good job the NHS. My first thought would not be “what a good job Johnson is doing” ??.

Pammie1 Fri 17-Dec-21 12:21:58

Well it’s certainly sent a strong message to the government, and I thought Helen Morgan’s victory speech told it like it is. Problem is, it’s not going to translate the same into a general election on borrowed votes from labour supporters.

Kali2 Fri 17-Dec-21 12:23:17

Anyone who thinks that this elections was not very significant and indicative, is totally deluded. If a Constituency which has been so so staunchly Conservative for such a long time can turn around like this- can you imagine what will happen in those previously Labour strongholds now they know they have been sold down the river and worse.

MayBee70 Fri 17-Dec-21 12:24:22

I know this is cruel of me, and I have no problem with people being follicly challenged ( I am myself, and DH isn’t challenged, he’s totally defeated) but I had to laugh when the news moved to a Zoom chat with the secretary of the 1922 committee, Geoffrey Clifton Brown and someone was doing his hair comb over. I thought men had stopped doing comb overs. Perhaps that’s why he’s in the 1922 committee and not the 2021 one..

Oooops a Booby C?

Kali2 Fri 17-Dec-21 13:08:44

Bobby! even

Iam64 Fri 17-Dec-21 13:13:20

Is anyone listening to Johnson flumbering around avoiding accepting any responsibility for the defeat
Waffle boffle waffle - all over the place

Alegrias1 Fri 17-Dec-21 13:15:43

Where's it on Iam64?

Galaxy Fri 17-Dec-21 13:22:02

I have just heard it on radio 4. It was unbelievable. How did we get to this.

avitorl Fri 17-Dec-21 13:38:49

Amazing result.I hope it means the end for Johnson as PM

Iam64 Fri 17-Dec-21 13:42:32

As Galaxy said, radio 4 midday
I’ve no doubt it’s one you can find on the bbc web. Absolutely shambolic and shameful

Alegrias1 Fri 17-Dec-21 13:43:31

Thanks smile

Parsley3 Fri 17-Dec-21 14:08:58

I have just listened to the PM on the BBC website. My ears heard him take responsibility but say that the sleaze, partying and second jobs has nothing to do with the public and we should only be bothering our pretty heads with vaccine rollout and the UK enjoying the fastest growing economy in the history of the universe ( I exaggerated there).
I heard him being critical of the media for reporting evidence of rule breaking. I heard him complaining of people playing politics.
I wanted to throw something at the screen.
However, that is just me and other interpretations of what he said are of course available.

M0nica Fri 17-Dec-21 14:12:12

I heard that car crash of an interview, where he kept talking of 'the people', 'the peopl' as if we were a breed of sheep.

Saying that we were not interested in all the tales of sleeze dishonesty, personal and monetary, the lies and the general diregard and contempt of those people he kept talking about.

It is an insult to 'the people' to suggest we do not care about honesty and integrity as long as benefits flow in.

He just does not understand that the problem with the Conservative Party is him.

The 54% of the North Shropshire electroate who didn't vote ysterday, or most of them, are Conservative supporters who couldn't bring themselves to vote for another party, but could not bring themselves to vote Conservative because he is the Prime Minister.

GillT57 Fri 17-Dec-21 14:13:40

Well, I am delighted with the result, not just for the LibDem candidate, but because the people of North Shropshire voted against more of the same, good for them, I am even more delighted that the toxic parties such as UKIP or Remain or whatever they call themselves didn't get a look in, even in this strongly farming, rural, Brexit supporting constituency. I am very amused at the huffy affrontery from some on GN who seem to take being called a Tory as an insult...Tonight I shall raise a glass of wine and toast the new MP and laugh my way through the toe curling bluster and waffle of Johnson and his merry men. wine

Farzanah Fri 17-Dec-21 15:06:34

Please send champagne to Shropshire, we’re in danger of running out here.

grin. Someone I used to work with referred to these type of comb overs as 'pedal bin' hairstyles; stand on their foot and it will flip up grin grin

Calistemon Fri 17-Dec-21 15:38:07

No, Geoffrey, just no
Very similar to amount of top follicles to DH but he gets his cut very, very short on top!

Kali2 Fri 17-Dec-21 15:48:49

I havent' heard that train crash of an interview yet- been busy packing and stuff.

He will be 'saved' by Christmas and NY- but I expect it will be quick afterwards.

MayBee70 Fri 17-Dec-21 16:12:24

The Tories don’t hang about when it comes to that sort of thing. I bet Carrie wonders what she’s let herself in for now.

Happygirl79 Fri 17-Dec-21 17:48:53

He will be ousted early in the New year no doubt. The Conservative party take no prisoners
