Virtual patient in Virtual ward ??
How did you vote and why today
There is so much happening that is not being reported, I thought that it would do no harm to get those interested up to speed.
1. UK pays £24 for one Moderna dose. EU pays £1
UK pays £15 for one Pfizer dose. EU pays £10.60
AZ in UK is £2.17 per dose.
In EU it’s £2.15
2. ITV news reporting
Analysis shows Brexit caused £12 billion of lost trade in October
@NicholasTyrone
I see the government has very quietly folded in the fishing dispute with the French. This is Brexit in a nutshell: the UK government makes a big noise, puffs out its chest - and then reality kicks in and a complete cave in ensues. It happens over and over again.

UK trade has shrunk since Brexit while EU thrives -
4. The U.K. is paying 25% tariffs on steel we export to USA. The EU - zero
No level playing field there

And this was later today when I was following the announcement.
URGENT UPDATE FOR BRITISH RESIDENTS IN EU
The French government has updated the travel rules applied since 28 December 2021.
Passengers travelling from the UK, with residency permits for other EU countries under the Withdrawal Agreement, can now transit through France to return to their homes. This is subject to their journey to the UK having been completed before the 28th December 2021.
This new rule comes into force immediately.
BTW- all people booked on the Tunnel yesterday were sent the official information by the Tunnel and told they would NOT be able to transit through France to their residence in the EU. This was then picked up and repeated by Embassies, TV News, all major newspapers, etc - so hardly 'people making mountains out of molehills'.
One family who were with relatives near Folkestone had to get up in middle of the night to travel north to Harwich and take the long and expensive crossing to The Hook - and ditch their doorstep travel via Tunnel- to ensure they could get back in time to resume work, and kids for school on Monday.
So your comment is particularly insensitive.
Did your GD travel with a Dutch national with Dutch passport?
Really- that was the official advice given by Tunnel, and Embassies from all over EU- and caused so much stress to many! So keep your montains and molehills- people have been turned away by officials at the Tunnel, fact- and U-turn only happened midday today!!!
And it is not about Covid only- but definitely about Brexit- as it seemed that only UK, as 3rd nationals and non-EU were affected.

How does that work then for the poster on GN who I believe needs to travel back to Switzerland? It's a crazy ruling, Omicron is rife in France anyway, it won't make any difference.. Maybe it is Brexit then?
That was never a worry for us as we are both dual nationals with both passports- thanks for asking.
No it isn’t. The French have done a u turn. My GD returned to her home in Netherlands via tunnel on Wed No problems. Some people really do like to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

The Brexit premium
Well this is not now happening. The French have done a u turn. Down to covid restrictions anyway.
Thank you- off to Surrey for 1 week tomorrow
Wishing you a pleasant journey home Kali2. ?

Covid is rife everywhere now, there is no point whatever in any precaution except for the vulnerable who should isolate.
The rest, carry on as normal and isolate if you are ill.
So… no masks ? No distancing ? No air filters in schools ?
Not only the vulnerable become ill.

We normally make a stop over on return home- each time another town to discover as many as we can - but not sure we will be able to this time- so it will be a looooong journey- but fortunately we both drive in turn- and will take a blanket in cas we have to stop for a while for a snooze.
Thanks for caring and asking x
Phew Kali2, yes I thought of you and just found out on the other thread that you will be home and dry.

Sorry, Whitewavemark2 just thinking out loud on your thread, if that is allowed!

I feel like I need a crystal ball. Whatever info is good for today may have no relevance tomorrow. At least the change in the pass from test to vaccination is preferable. No one can challenge that.
Thanks, fingers crossed because of covid. We use Brittany Ferries and they are always notoriously slow, if at all, to update information. Impossible to plan anything for 2022.

URGENT UPDATE FOR BRITISH RESIDENTS IN EU: Following a French Government decision, on 28/12/2021, unless they hold French residency, British citizens are now considered 3rd country citizens and can no longer transit France by road to reach their country of residence in the EU.Can anyone confirm, this is just temporarily in covid times please?
I would go onto the Channel Tunnel web site. My guess it is because of covid.

The UK has abandoned its attempt to strip EU judges of the power to oversee the Northern Ireland Protocol, in another Brexit climbdown.
The U-turn – denied by Downing Street just days ago – would allow the European Court of Justice (ECJ) to interpret the agreement, despite repeated pledges to “remove” its role.
The move comes after David Frost, the Brexit minister, also pulled back from threats to trigger Article 16 of the Protocol, despite Unionist anger over the trade barrier created in the Irish Sea.
