No lateral flow tests available

None available online and my pharmacist has run out. Not exactly brilliant planning by Boris, is it?

Our local garden centre always has loads? They
have a post office counter too though so that may be the reason?

People are also testing before they attend a social gathering, as did our book club before we met on Monday.

Yes, same here Riverwalk. I tested before a concert on Monday, before French group on Tuesday and yesterday before having lunch round a friend's whose daughter is temporarily living with her is pregnant.

Your DD’s visit is important for so many life affirming reasons and you must be excited. I hope it all goes smoothly and you enjoy a great Christmas with her. ????

Hopefully, once most people have got a stash hoarded away, the rest of us will be able to order some. I do have a couple of spare packs as I ordered extra once I knew my sister was coming over from the US to stay with me for Christmas, we always intended to have LFT tests before we met up with the rest of the family. I hope I have enough!

I’m very excited as she is now on a plane flying over the Atlantic and will be here in the morning. She is having her arrival PCR at the airport so hopefully I won’t have to isolate with her for too long until she gets a negative result. It’s been three years since we have seen her and since she has seen our Mum who is now in a dare home with advanced dementia so it’s going to be an emotional reunion - possibly the last time my sister sees my Mum.

They must be replenishing stocks quite fast. The neighbour who said she'd bring me a couple didn't know at mid day when they were likely to come in. She sent her son round with two packs early this evening. Wasn't at all bothered about my QR code...

Turns out that not all pharmacies need a QR code. I was out this afternoon and happened to walk past a pharmacy so I called in and asked for a pack of LFTs which were duly provided. At the time they happened to be unpacking a new delivery so I assume there was no need to ration them using the QR code rigmarole.

Mine were delivered today. They were left outside in my porch, I was surprise no one stole them!

I got one on a smaller Boots after having ” none available” at two other Boots in a large City its crazy we are told to LFT and then they arent available not easy to do as we are told

And, no, I didn't stockpile tests weeks ago because stockpiling causes shortages.

I didn’t stockpile either. I just ordered two seven day packs so that I can test myself before meeting with family or friends during the Christmas period. I’ve never stockpiled anything but I do think ahead. And I didn’t need the government to tell me what to do either. I just used common sense.

I NEVER take the lateral flow test. I don't want pinging and confining to the house. I've had 3 vaccinations so I have done my bit for society. Why should I self-isolate! Did that at beginning of the year waiting for an op that kept being cancelled. Hey I want my freedom.

Your post shows ignorance anyway. Taking a test does not lead to you being 'pinged', as you put it.
Thousands, maybe even millions of people are taking tests but not reporting the results. That might be a nightmare for the statisticians, but it is infinitely better than sticking your head in the sand and not having a clue whether you are infected or not!

Surely though, if you took a test that indicated you were positive, you would not be self-centered/stupid enough to carry on as normal and risk infecting other people, would you? Really?

In our local village we have a Boots plus 2 independents. Boots and one other have run out. However, the other one had the tests and I picked up a box earlier today. She told me they were getting more in tomorrow.

I wonder what everyone will do or say, when Christmas 2022, the 4th or 5th varient comes into play, which I suspect it will!

It’s fairly easy to get LFT test kits from pharmacies you just need to download a QR code for collection from the Gov website. Please don’t come to the vaccination sites without testing first, many of us working there are retired nurses and doctors who have returned to help and would prefer to avoid infection where possible, while we re keeping you safe please keep us safe ?

Only if the pharmacies have any.
